Lamont said the grant was not a farewell gift to Aresimowicz. “As far as I’ve been informed, we provide a fair amount of aid to different towns across the way,” said Lamont. “We recently did a softball field in Canton. The Booking Around Berlin Community Scavenger Hunt will run until Jan. 31. Twenty local businesses, plus the library, will hang posters of popular children’s book titles in their windows. Players will have to find each poster and write down the title of the book on their map, which they can get from a participating business, the Berlin library, or the library website.
The Sage Park football field – Scalise Field – is also used by several other BHS sports teams, as well as for adult and youth sports.

In collaboration with the town’s Economic Development Department, the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library Children’s Department launched a townwide scavenger hunt with prizes for all participants.

“Families really need to do something fun with their kids,” said Jennifer Needham, the head of Children's and Teen Services at Berlin-Peck Memorial Library. “We really try to foster not just literacy but also a community spirit in our town. I think now, more than ever, people need some interesting activities that do not involve screen time.” Needham added that if the event receives positive feedback from the public, the library might try it again during the summer.
