The coldest winter weather showed up the last few days of January. Stepping outside for even a moment without a hat, mittens and proper clothing and the wind went right through you. Still, so far, the season has not been as cold as some winters. Records from the early 1940s earn Falls Village the top spot in the freezer section with a reading of minus 32 degrees. Yet, on the last weekend of January 2021, Cheshire residents were waking up to temperatures

Hunkered down on a quilt teacher Mary Cole has spread out, three children, bundled from head to toe in hats and coats, scarves and gloves, eagerly reach for one of the animal puppets to hold. The little group then arranges into a circle as the Fit By Nature class gets underway during a recent outing to Mixville Park. Everyone is properly distanced in this purposely small class, and masked up.
