Fall high school season remains on course to start on time and run in full

The calendar has flipped to August and dates are flashing along the Connecticut high school sports horizon like so many lighthouses. August 12-14 for football team activites. Earlier this year, Elim Park University Dean Wayne Detzler was looking for a speaker for the Elim Park in-house college of continuing education. Masks now required in municipal buildings Record-Journal staff

Anyone entering any of Cheshire’s municipal buildings is now required to wear a mask due to the increase in COVID-19 cases and positivity rates in town, according to an announcement last week from the town manager’s office. This new mandate went into effect Aug. 9 and is similar to edicts in a growing number of towns that are once again requiring masks inside municipal buildings.

To Detzler’s delight, Bell accepted his invitation and signed to do a two-part lecture on “The Birth of Musical Theater.”

While Gov. Ned Lamont signed an executive order Aug. 5 permitting local leaders to mandate masks in public places, such as grocery stores and restaurants, few municipalities have gone that far yet. New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker announced Aug. 5 that the city would once again be requiring mask use in public places.
