A big boost to efforts of animal advocacy group By Joy VanderLek The Cheshire Citizen

An avenue of fundraising has opened up to assist Friends of Feral Cheshire Cats for the holiday season, co-founder Kerry Bartoletti recently announced. “A passionate advocate for cats in the Cheshire area has pledged to match all donations made to the local nonprofit by Christmas day, up to $15,000,” she said. This boost to operations will help the organization to address the many challenges facing homeless animals and those providing a helping hand.

Artist puts creative twist on enivronmental issues By Joy VanderLek The Cheshire Citizen

It was a pole from an old clothing line in the backyard that kickstarted artist Sarah Schneiderman’s passion to recycle objects into artwork. She talked about her unusual approach to activist art at the November online meeting of the Cheshire Art League, facilitated by the

Cheshire Public Library.

“Found objects, donated materials, and trash have been my medium ever since,” Schneiderman said, detailing her creative journey from that clothing line to her fully realized crative process of turning discarded items into works of art.

CHESHIRE — Entering the Southern Connecticut Conference Division A final as the top seed on Indians 5 Wednesday, Rams 1 Nov. 11, Cheshire field hockey had the advantage of playing on its home field. Guilford's championship pedigree, however, proved too much. Second-seeded Guilford (121-0-1) scored twice in the second quarter to snap a 1-1 tie and added two more goals to earn a 5-1 win and claim a third straight SCC tournament crown. See Field hockey, A2
