Ornaments are treasured keepsakes of town life By Joy VanderLek The Cheshire Citizen

You know you are from Cheshire when — you own at least one Cheshire Christmas tree ornament. The ornaments, depicting iconic Cheshire scenes, have been made since 1989, 31 ornaments in all. Brian Fico has collected most all of them. The Cheshire resident even devotes one tree in his house just for the Cheshire ornaments. Fico said his family shares his love of the Cheshire ornament tree. See Ornaments, A4

Two iconic sites are depicted on these ornaments: Notch Trestle in Mixville, 2015, and Blackie’s Hot Dog Stand, 2020 edition. At right is one of Fico’s trees, decorated entirely with commemorative ornaments.

The reason Hanukkah lasts eight nights is because the Eternal Light, the final act of the rededication of the temple, was able to last eight nights on oil that was only meant to last for one.
