Cheshire March 15 message

March 15, 2020 Update: Town Hall closed except by appointment for essential services only.

The Town of Cheshire is asking our community to help reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and protect our residents, especially those most vulnerable., the Town closed the following facilities and cancelled all programs and activities effective March 13, 2020: • Library • Senior Center • Youth Center • Community Pool • Artsplace • Yellow House Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, Town Hall will be modifying operations to appointmentonly for essential services.

Staff members are available for essential services by appointment only. Please call the department with which you need to do business. If your request is deemed essential and cannot be conducted electronically or rescheduled for a later date, a staff member will make an appointment for you.

If you are unsure of the department you need, call the Town Manager’s office for assistance at 203 271-6660.

We strongly encourage residents and businesses to conduct business with the Town electronically and through the mail. Town staff will still be working in our closed facilities and available by email and phone. We will continue to collaborate with our local, state, and federal health officials and follow their recommendations.

Community Message from the Mayor The Town of Cheshire is working hard to protect our residents, especially those most vulnerable, as this unprecedented novel coronavirus continues to spread. I want to assure our community that myself, the Town Council, and the Town’s Emergency Management Team are in constant communication with local, state, and federal health and emergency officials to address these rapidly changing developments. Our public health and public safety officials have the Town Council’s full support. I am confident that our professionals and volunteer leaders will see us through this challenge, and that this wonderful community will unite and be stronger for it.

While there are many of us involved in dealing with this crisis, it is critical for the community to have one official, reliable source for information. The Town’s Emergency Management Team, speaking through Town Manager Sean Kimball along with Emergency Management Director Jack Casner and Chesprocott Health Director Mauro Esposito have been and will continue to be that unified voice. Be assured that they have the most up to date and accurate information.

Updates will be posted on the Town website, on the Town’s official social media, and shared with our local news outlets. Please rely on this official source for your local updates.
