Q: What is CBD? A: Cannabidiol, better known as CBD, is a compound found in industrial hemp plants that offer numerous of benefits.
Q: Can CBD make you high? A: The marijuana plant is high in tetrahydrocannabinol or
THC and very low in CBD. CBD is not psychoactive so it does not change a person’s state of mind when they consume it.
Q: What is THC? A: THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol, the main
compound found in marijuana plants. THC is what gives marijuana its psychoactive properties or “high” effects.
Q: Is all CBD the same? A: No, many companies extract CBD from the seed or the
stem, which is an easier and cheaper process. We extract it from the flower to provide the highest concentration of CBD. We also use third-party testing and all of our products include a QR code to provide customers access to our lab reports. Because as the industry grows many companies are unable to show transparency like we do.

A reminder from Chief Januszewski Chief Paul Januszewski and the North Haven Fire Department would like to remind residents to test their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. "It's always better to regularly change the batteries in your smoke and CO detectors twice per year than to wait for them to start beeping because the battery is dying," Januszewski said. "In addition, all smoke detectors should be replaced at least every 10 years, and CO detectors should be replaced according to the manufacturer's instructions on the device." According to the National Fire Protection Association, having working smoke alarms reduces the risk of dieing in a fire by 50 percent and, on average, three out of every five fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms. The North Haven Fire De-
partment asks that all business owners not only change the batteries in their smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, but also replace the batteries on wall mounted emergency lights and exit signs. All businesses have emergency backup lighting as a safety feature. There are two types of smoke alarms: ionization and photoelectric. Each type of technology is designed to alert you to fire or smoke conditions. An ionization smoke alarm is generally more responsive to fast, flaming fires and a photoelectric smoke alarm is generally more responsive to slower, smoldering fires. For the best protection, or where extra time is needed to awaken or assist others, both types of alarms, or combination ionization and photoelectric alarms are recommended.
fires, Januszewski recommends that residents follow safety tips outlined by NFPA:
Celebrate responsibly
Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms at least once a month using the test button. Replace alarms immediately if they don’t respond properly when tested.
Editor :
Replace batteries in smoke and CO alarms when you change your clocks. Replace all smoke alarms when they reach 10 years old. Replace CO detectors according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Lamont declares health, civil emergency over coronavirus
By Cindy Golia
During our February meeting, the North Haven Garden Club was happy to welcome and introduce our newest member, Frank Muzio, to our club. Frank is the owner of Frankie's Fruits and Vegetables in North Haven, and grows his produce organically. He is indeed an expert in this field. We are looking forward to working with Frank and having him share his knowledge of organic gardening with our Junior Garden Club kids and members alike. Also at the meeting, member Ellie Tessmer, who is the liaison for the Federated Garden Clubs, Conn. Agricultural Experiment Station and Experiment Station Associates, shared a poster with information regarding the station.

HARTFORD — Connecticut’s governor declared both a public health and civil preparedness emergency Tuesday in response to the coronavirus, similar to actions taken during hurricanes.
Frank Muzio with Membership Chair Pat Brodka.
Gov. Ned Lamont said the move will allow him to take faster action to protect public health and safety, including suspending certain laws and regulations. Most notably, he said it helps the state ramp up its testing capacity faster.

membership services, and leads the chamber in business development, events and marketing.
From A1
Nesti said that the search for a new executive director will include internal and external candidates.
Before joining the chamber, she worked in sales at Bear Stearns, in the commodity markets on the New York Mercantile Exchange and as a special events coordinator at a country club.
Garrett Sheehan, president of the Quinnipiac and Greater New Haven chambers of commerce, said in a statement that the search is slated to start in a few weeks.
She was also co-owner and office manager of a clothing company with clients such as Lands End and Coldwater Creek.
The two chambers finalized an affiliation — less than a merger and one of the first of its kind, Nesti said — a month before she was promoted.
She is married to Michael Nesti, marketing manager at Masonicare at Chester Village, and has four daughters and five grandchildren.
Sheehan said that he has come to depend on Nesti’s leadership and “ability to support the business community in North Haven and Wallingford.”
In addition to the annual business showcase, the chamber sponsors a women’s achievement award, manufacturing career fair and plans to run a small business academy in May.
“We’re excited for Dee, but sad to lose her at the chamber,” he said. “She has done an incredible job as executive director, especially transitioning to the affiliation with the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce.”
“We’re always looking to shake things up and change what we do,” she said, “because there’s so many events out there, we want to make them new and different and exciting.” Tim Ryan, the town’s economic development specialist, said Nesti has been “a great asset” to the town.
‘Great asset’ Nesti began as executive director in November 2013 after Robin Wilson, the former president and chief executive officer, retired at the end of October 2013. Wilson had served in the position for almost 30 years.
“Dee has been a pleasure to work with and just a tireless advocate for business in Wallingford,” he said. LTakores@record-journal.com 203-317-2212 Twitter: @LCTakores
