Husband and wife take gym to the next level By Nicole Zappone The Citizen

Husband and wife Brad and Jenna March have taken their gym Iron Bond Fitness to the next level. Over the summer, the couple moved the business from Hamden to a bigger – more aesthetically pleasing – location on Dodge Avenue in North Haven. “It’s more centralized for our clients, who come from all over. And we believe North Haven is an awesome community, and the location is perfect for us," said Jenna March. “This place is twice the size of our old space in Hamden." Iron Bond Fitness, located at 27 Dodge Ave., will host an See Gym, A2 open house Saturday, Nov. 5 from 8 to 10 a.m.

CHESHIRE — Old rivalries don’t die. They resurface in old-fashioned backyard tussles such as these. North Haven used a long first-half drive, a fourthquarter field goal and stout defense throughout to defeat former Thanksgiving rival Cheshire 10-0 on Friday night, Oct. 28 in a SCC Tier 1 game at Alumni Field. Last week, Girl Scouts from throughout North Haven got together for a rededication ceremony and to celebrate Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low's birthday. At rededication ceremonies, youngsters recommit themselves to the Girl Scout Law and Promise. The local gathering took place at North Haven Middle School on Wednesday, Oct. 26. It was a game with divisional and playoff ramifications. North Haven came away at 6-1 and Cheshire at 5-2.

The Rams get the first break of the night, recovering a fumbled punt recovered just over midfield in the opening quarter. North Haven’s defense held, however, and forced another Rams’ punt. And that’s where the game took a crucial turn. Taking over at their own 15, the Nighthawks engineered an 11-play scoring drive, going up 7-0 with 2:40 left in the opening quarter when Camren Thompson got free from 30 yards out. That’s where the score stayed through halftime, though the Rams did reach See Football, A2

the doorstep on a 43-yard screen pass from Michael Simeone to Jeffrey Gonzalez. Simeone rolled right, threw back against the grain to Gonzalez, who rambled down the left sideline to the North Haven 2.

Defenses dominated in the third quarter. Both teams punted three times. Cheshire did hit for a 39-yard pass play from Simione to Luke Wiedemann, but it was erased by a penalty for ineligible man down field.

A 33-yard pass from Jeffrey Karavas to Daniel-Mark Thomas, compounded by a personal foul on Cheshire, put the Nighthawks in field goal position, and Declan Finkle delivered a 20-yarder with 5:44 left.

Iron Bond Fitness' new home has that industrial look many gym-owners would envy: garage door, exposed ceiling beams, cement walls. Jenna March said buildings such as this rarely come on the market, and moving in was a dream come true.

Brad March said he's seen many gyms go out of businesses since the onset of COVID-19 in 2020. “Gyms fought for as long as they could, but with their financials, they couldn’t keep up and lost their clientele,” he said.

The Marchs married two years ago and reside in North BranWith Iron Bond Fitness, Brad ford. They run the gym side-bysaid he's looking forward to side.

The club’s display featured Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion, and also the Wicked Witch and Glenda the Good Witch. The scarecrows were put together by NHGC members Cindy Adinolfi, Lee Fermo, Gerri Giordano, Cindy Golia, Poonam Karnwal, Lynda O'Donnell, Marge Quinn and Dianna Ramadei, with help from Camille Bracale, Fran Notaro, Linda Lianos and Carmen Sealy. Meanwhile, members of the Junior Garden Club, built the Lollipop League and the Ballerinas (also known as the Lullaby League) from the Wizard of Oz. These were added to the overall display, which included a yellow brick road, of course.
