STEAP grant means new garage at FD By Grace McFadden Special to The Citizen
The North Haven Fire Department received a $427,512 state grant to build a new garage as part of a multi-town infrastructure assistance program.
The garage will allow for further storage that will be used to support training. According to Fire Chief Paul Januszewski, the current configuration of the fire department only allows for training with equipment that may need to be used for an incident.

The department said in an Oct. 18 Facebook post that officers had responded to 46 reported vehicle burglaries over the prior week. The incidents were in the area of Maple Avenue, George Street, Blakeslee Avenue, Washington Avenue, State Street, Skiff Street, Monroe Street, Lynette Drive, Pool Road, Woodside Drive, Sackett Point Road, Ridgewood Avenue and Ansonia Drive. “This is a problem throughout the state, and law en-
forcement needs your help,” the department said, in the Facebook post. Police Chief Kevin Glenn didn’t respond to a request seeking additional comment.
The department asked that anyone with surveillance video call the department at (203) 239-5321. The burglars smashed windows of locked cars to steal items, police said. Aside from the burglaries, police said they also unsuccessfully tried to stop several suspected stolen vehicles. Police are also using a grant to increase overnight staffing See Police, A2
