Volpe to lead Barnes Museum

New traffic cams are online on area roads

Apple Harvest Festival rejects medical pot sponsor By Jesse Buchanan Record-Journal staff

A medical marijuana dispensary won’t be an Apple Harvest Festival sponsor after its application was denied by the festival committee. Fine Fettle, a dispensary with locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts, had requested a sponsorship position and booth at the

fall festival. Eric Halpern, a pharmacist and assistant manager at the company’s Newington location, said the group planned to offer information on medical marijuana and would “absolutely not” have had any marijuana at the festival. “It’s so tightly regulated. Every product has to be purchased at the dispensary by a registered patient from a pharmacist,” Halpern said.

During a meeting earlier this month, most of the festival committee voted against having Fine Fettle as a sponsor. Tom Lombardi, a Town Council Republican, voted in favor of the sponsorship. Chris Palmieri, a Town Council Democrat, abstained from the vote. Both are running for reelection.
