Dear Reader Hello again,

Here we are. Some of you might be back in school, while others are attending school virtually and I encourage you to continue learning. However, please do so safely as you are precious gems, and our future is with you. You are strong, capable, loving, and smart. Remember this is the time to educate yourself. Speak up about things and let yourself be heard. You are an important part of our world. You are important earthlings. Read books and look for information online to help you be a stronger you. As we head into the holidays, I imagine us all spreading compassion and love, by showing that Peace begins on our food plate. Please keep moving forward, for a vegan world. As always, I am here for you in whatever you need, just reach out. --------------------------------If you have questions for me, my e-mail is: welcome22day@gmail.com

Did you know… Animals • • • • • • • • • • • •

Raccoons are about the size of a medium dog. They have a bushy, ringed tails and a black mask across their faces. Raccoons love raiding vegetable gardens. Apart from the US raccoons can be found in Canada and parts of Mexico. Raccoons often dip their food in water. Raccoon moms usually have two or three babies, called kits. Raccoon moms keep their babies safe in dens. The sound of a baby raccoon crying for its mother is very similar to a human baby sound. They are curious, clever, and solitary. The intelligence of a raccoon is so great that they can figure out the answers to problems and remember quite intricate tasks for up to 3 years. The word ‘raccoon’ translates to mean “one who rubs, scrubs, and scratches with its hands”. The largest raccoon ever recorded weighed in at 60 lbs.

Become an SOS Leader Join Students Opposing Speciesism (SOS), a youth-led, PETA-backed revolt against human supremacy. Whether you’re a high school student, a college student, or an activist in your local community, we want you to apply to be a leader of an SOS hub! Hub leaders are responsible for hosting actions, managing a hub at a local level, managing their hub Instagram account, and keeping PETA advisers in the loop. They also represent animal rights to the media. Leaders should be between the ages of 13 and 24. To learn more about being an SOS leader, check out our expectations page. When you join SOS, you’re signing up to lead a revolt—and we’re there to support you every step of the way. After joining, you’ll get a welcome kit in the mail with free stickers, an SOS T-shirt, a wristband, and more to help you get started sharing the message of animal liberation! Important note: When our world changes, we have to adapt. During the current crisis, all hubs are focusing on online actions and distance activism to reach friends, family, classmates, and others in order to engage with them and get them to question the status quo—because animals can’t wait until this pandemic is over for us to speak up. We hope to be back on the streets and in classrooms soon. Stay loud! More information here: https://sos.peta.org/who-we-are/
