Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The year is rushing to an end, with the Years 7 - Year 10 Yearly Examinations concluding today. Next week, feedback and the regular timetable will be resumed for Years 7 - Year 9. Year 10 has a feedback roster for Monday and Tuesday; after that, they will do Work Experience. Year 12 have started their assessment block and will continue with these next week. The Year 12 Parent, Surviving the HSC, presentation by Dani Klein on Tuesday night was, as always, a great success. Inviting parents to the newly refurbished Bondi Learning Centre for refreshments afterwards was an exceptional opportunity for us, and the parents and teachers enjoyed it to the maximum. The evening was all the more relevant as Dani, who has been giving this talk for at least 15 years, spoke with authority on the HSC at Reddam, having experienced it first-hand this year with her daughter Lucy, who is part of the Reddam Class of 2023. Natalie Townsend’s music composition has been nominated for possible inclusion in ENCORE, which is a selection of outstanding music performances and written compositions from HSC music students and will be held at the Sydney Opera House in March 2024. This work comprises an original score composed
by Natalie and submitted as part of her Music elective. It was a massive achievement from such a dedicated student. Well done, Natalie.
We proudly announce that Zach Simmons has had his Core Composition, danced by Giulia Goldman, selected for Callback. This is a fantastic achievement and an accolade well deserved by such a hardworking, talented student. The piece will be performed with the best HSC Dance Works from 2023 in February next year at the Seymour Centre. Zach was nominated for all three HSC Dance practical components, and his Major Study Performance has been placed on the reserve list.
We wish our sporting teams good luck as some of them play in their Finals for the Summer Competition. We have three tennis teams playing in the Final of the Northern Suburbs School Competition. Reddam 3 with Laura Nihill and Ester Caccini, Reddam 5 with Oren Shaki and Daniel Pinsky, and Reddam 8 with Phoenix Palermo and Kadyn Lowe have had outstanding seasons leading up to Saturday's final and should do well.
Our Water Polo Girls head into their Finals with great anticipation. Our Firsts play Barker, who will be a worthy opponent. Our two Middle School Teams have finished first and second in their division and will battle it out to see who rules the Woollahra Campus.
We have three Girls' Touch Football teams through to the final. Our Year 7 A Team and Year 8 Team have both gone through the season undefeated and should do well this Saturday. Our Year 9 A Team has endured a tough season in the Junior A Competition and made the Finals for the Junior B Comp. They are a bunch of fighters and will go hard.
The Basketball Finals are two weeks away, and we look forward to the Reddam Teams featuring in those matches. The Artists continue with their Year 12 Body of Work, and this week, we showcase the artwork by Storm Hasemer.
Next week is busy with the Reddam Public Speaking Competition on Monday evening, and on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Dance Department invites you to their end-of-year showcase, O2 Dance- Oxygen to the Soul. The students have been working tirelessly to prepare for this production and have blown Mrs Collier-Walsh away with their dedication, creativity, energy and talent. She believes it will be their best show yet.

2024 Musical Announcement We are thrilled to announce that Reddam House High School will be producing Meredith Willson’s The Music Man as our 2024 High School show. The Music Man is a six-time Tony Award-winning, familyfriendly musical comedy that has been entertaining audiences since 1957. The show has been revived in recent years on Broadway and London, and features alarge cast with many roles, high energy dance numbers, and an iconic score and script. The High School production is a wonderful experience and a fantastic opportunity for yourchild to gain confidence, form lasting friendships, earn RHAP points, and perform on aprofessional stage. We encourage all students to get involved in some capacity. Orientation for New Reddam Students and Existing Reddam StudentsAn orientation session will be held on Monday December 4 from 4:00-5.00pm in Adelaide Hall (corner of Adelaide Street and Convent Lane, Woollahra). Join the production team tohear about their vision for the production, discuss audition requirements, and learn somemusic from the show.

'O2 Dance - Oxygen to the Soul' Join the Reddam House Dance Department as they proudly present students from Year 7-12 for a night of creativity, joy and dance. The evening consists of original work devised for Reddam artists as part of the school curriculum and the extracurricular Dance program. For dancers, movement is like oxygen to the soul, breathing life into their unique expression of ideas and connection to the world around them. Through a range of styles, our students will share this experience with audiences and celebrate Dance as an artform.

MACQUARIE LEADERS AND ACHIEVERS EARLY ENTRY SCHEME The Macquarie Leaders and Achievers Early Entry Scheme has opened. We are receiving more and more applications each week, and want to ensure your students have the best chance for a positive outcome from their application. 1. Encourage students who have done well in Year 11 to apply. 2. Ensure students diversify their preferences. We recommend choosing a range of degrees with varying entry requirements (by using published selection ranks as a guide). 3. Activities provided by students must demonstrate leadership skills, personal development and dedication through extracurricular activities (see website for examples). 4. Students must remember to answer all parts of the reflection questions, including how their activities link specifically to their decision to apply for a degree at Macquarie University and how they will make a positive contribution to engagement with the Macquarie University community. 5. Mathematics course prerequisites Year 12 students are reminded that some of our courses require them to meet the mathematics course prerequisite to be considered for an offer of admission. Students who have not completed the required level of mathematics in their secondary school studies can complete the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for mathematics and the post-MOOC exam or can apply for and enrol in a course that doesn’t have a mathematics prerequisite, complete the required studies in mathematics and then apply to transfer* to their initial course choice. Faculty of Science Grand Challenge: Igniting the Future of Renewable Fuel | 16 November 8:45 am-2:45 pm Year 9-10 students will spend a day with Future Anything learning about a real-life global problem - the Grand Challenge. Students will meet Professor Kondo-Francois Aguey-Zinsou, one of the world's leading hydrogen fuel researchers. They will then brainstorm, develop and pitch their own energy solutions to their peers and facilitators for a chance to win cash prizes. Registration and more information can be found here.

New admission scheme: Regional and Remote Entry Scheme The Regional and Remote Scheme – for domestic students residing in or attending a school in a regional or remote area – offers admission to a Sydney Uni undergraduate degree on a reduced ATAR. Students are also encouraged to submit an application to be considered for scholarships through the University's new single scholarship application form. Applications close 29 September and students must also have the University of Sydney listed as a preference on this date. Please note: most accommodation scholarships still require a separate application through the relevant college website. MySydney Entry and Scholarship Scheme MySydney offers eligible students residing in a low socio-economic areas entry on a reduced ATAR, an $8,500 per annum scholarship for the duration of their undergraduate degree and additional support. Students simply submit a UAC application and list the University of Sydney as a preference. If the student is eligible, we will notify them via email on the dates listed on the MySydney website. Pathways to University for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students We have two dedicated pathways available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students: the Gadigal Program and the Extended Bachelor's Programs. The Gadigal pathway supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to study at the University of Sydney straight into their chosen undergraduate degree with reduced entry requirements. The Extended Bachelors Program is a dedicated non-ATAR pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to study some of our humanities, science, and

We appreciate your patience while we try to make the process as easy as we can for you. Now that it's complete and you have used School Access it's a good time for feedback on how you found the experience. All feedback can be emailed to srs@uac.edu.au. Educational Access Scheme Thursday 23 November is the deadline for all EAS applications, including documents, to be submitted for guaranteed consideration in the first ATAR-based offer round on 21 December. Applications Applications are still steadily rolling in. Many people ask about the benefits of applying through UAC compared to applying directly to an institution for an early offer, so here are a few key points:
•
Not all courses are available for early offers.
•
An early offer is not guaranteed.
•
A UAC application provides more options for preferences.
•
Students who have experienced difficulties/disadvantages in Year 11 or 12 can have their circumstances taken into account through an EAS application.
Students should make the most of their options and list different course preferences in their UAC application and their direct application. However, if they miss out on an early offer from a direct application they can add that course preference to their UAC application and compete for an offer based on their ATAR. The majority of students will be made an offer based on their ATAR and the hard work they have put into their Year 12 studies. Preferences While attending uni open days this year, the UAC Community Engagement team has answered many questions from students about how to list their preferences. In some cases a university has told them they need to list a course as their number one preference in order to receive an offer, but the course is not their first choice. Students should always: •
place their dream course as their first preference
•
include a back-up course as a lower preference.
And they should find out: •
the previous lowest selection ranks for the course – is it a realistic choice?
•
if they are eligible for any adjustment factors.

Guaranteed relocation allowances Narrm Scholars from a regional or remote area will receive a $3,000 relocation allowance, while a standalone Melbourne Relocation Scholarship of $1,500 will be paid to all other eligible students living in a regional or remote area who apply through Access Melbourne. More scholarships in all Access Melbourne categories We will be offering ~ approximately 200 additional scholarships to eligible students across other SEAS categories, e.g. disability or medical condition, difficult personal circumstances or receiving Commonwealth income support (Centrelink), based on overall level of impact. Guaranteed Narrm Scholarships for Indigenous students and those from low socioeconomic areas Narrm Scholarships are guaranteed to all Indigenous Australian students who confirm their eligibility with Murrup Barak and meet course entry requirements. In addition, we will guarantee scholarships to all students from a low socioeconomic area (as indicated by information in their SEAS application). Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students automatically. What does this mean for students who have applied to study in 2024? Narrm Scholarships will be offered automatically to all Indigenous Australian students who confirm their eligibility with Murrup Barak, and all eligible students living in an identified low socioeconomic area as indicated to us through details provided in SEAS Category 1 (personal information and location) and through the Australian Bureau of Statistics Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA). We will automatically consider all other students who have submitted SEAS applications for a Narrm Scholarship, based on overall level of disadvantage. We will be writing to all eligible Indigenous Australian and Access Melbourne Year 12 applicants to advise them of the benefits they’ll be eligible for in early December. Access Melbourne applications open now Access Melbourne helps us see the whole picture when students apply for undergraduate study. Access Melbourne categories take personal circumstances into consideration as part of a VTAC application. Students may even qualify for guaranteed entry or a place in their preferred course. The 2024 guaranteed ATARs are available on our website. This includes new guarantees for the Bachelor of Agriculture and Oral Health. New students can apply for over 50 on campus UNE bachelor degrees through UAC. Current year 12 students can also now add preference to their UAC application to be considered for the UAC Schools Recommendation Scheme Application via UAC Other ways students can apply School leavers possess a distinct advantage as they have several avenues through which they can apply to UNE. This not only increases their chances of being considered for a wide array of courses but also empowers them with multiple options, enabling them to select the most suitable course that aligns with their interests and aspirations. In addition to UAC and SRS applications being open, current year 12 students can also apply for UNE Early Entry now or direct to UNE when application open. Direct application to UNE – current year 12 students wishing to study online in our bachelor degrees or in any of our diplomas, advanced diplomas or undergraduate certificates can also apply direct to UNE. There is no cost to apply online direct UNE. Students will need to apply in this way for courses where: they are relying on their academic merit (e.g their ATAR or other prior completion qualification/s) to gain entry into; or for UNE courses not available through Early Entry or SRS etc. Direct applications to study in 2024 are expected to open in August 2023 UNIVERSITY OF NEW SOUTH WALES

Introducing UNSW Portfolio Entry Early Conditional Offers We are excited to announce that for Term 1, 2024 onwards, domestic students who are successful in applying for the UNSW Portfolio Entry Scheme will be eligible for an Early Conditional Offer. Portfolio Entry provides students applying for most Arts, Design & Architecture and Engineering degrees with the opportunity to showcase their passion and talent through a portfolio of work, alongside their ATAR. What is a Portfolio Entry Early Conditional Offer? Successful applicants will receive an early conditional offer which has an adjusted ATAR requirement up to 10 ATAR points below the lowest selection rank for a specific degree or range of related degrees. If a student meets or exceeds the adjusted ATAR requirement for an eligible degree and lists this as their highest eligible preference in UAC for the specified UAC offer round, then they will be issued a firm offer to that degree. For Term 1, 2024 entry, firm offers for Portfolio Entry will be issued in UAC December Round 2 (NSW and ACT applicants) and January Round 1 (Interstate and IB applicants). When is the Deadline? Submissions for Term 1, 2024 are already open, with early conditional offers released Friday, 1 September 2023. A late round of Portfolio Entry applications will open Saturday, 2 September 2023 and close on Wednesday, 22 November 2023.
