Abraham Lincoln once said, “I’m a slow walker, but I never walk back.” The same holds true for fellow sons of the Prairie State, Maps & Atlases, who, despite a flurry of activity since their inception in 2006, are only now releasing their full-length debut. But it’s been worth the wait: not only is Perch Patchwork the Chicago quartet’s first long player, it’s also their first masterpiece – a beautiful suite of songs that should rightly place the band in indie rock’s upper echelon.
will the charm living decorations solid ground is israeli caves banished be cavalier carrying the wet wood pigeon if this is was perch patchwork
The band's previous two EPs employed an arid, live sound, setting up Perch Patchwork to deliver a lush contrast of strings, horns, assorted percussion, and a variety of toy instruments, all placed just-so on some spot-on songwriting. In a world cluttered with digital ephemera, an album that flows from beginning to end with such deliberate grace is all the more special… not to mention a perfect soundtrack for the hissing of summer lawns.
MARKETING NOTES • This full-length follows the band’s 2008 EP You and Me and the Mountain (Sargent House), which has scanned over 6000 cds.

Welcome please, the Herbaliser. One of the key acts if not the key act of the middle ten years of Ninja Tune’s two decade journey, from 1995’s debut Remedies until their last album for Ninja, 2005’s Take London, Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba used their time with Ninja Tune to effortlessly combine their love of hip hop, funk, jazz and sixties film soundtracks into a widescreen, musical approach to the beat that was as raw as it was intelligent. From the old skool referencing “Gadget Funk,” through the spy theme atmospherics of “The Missing Suitcase,” the cartoon psychedelia of the previously unreleased “March of the Dead Things,” and the epic reach of both “Stranded On Earth” (from 2008’s Same as It Never Was on !K7) and the beautiful “A Song For Mary,” Herbal Tonic shows the musical mastery that a pair of hip hop heads from South West London developed.

Peter CAse Wig!
NATIONAL release date: CD/lp: 06.29.2010 Is it surprising to you that a 3-time Grammy nominated artist like Peter Case might not have insurance? Well, it’s not to Peter Case. Last nominated for his 2007 album Let Us All Now Praise Sleepy John Peter, like thousands of musicians and artists in the United States, was nearly a victim of our now slowly recovering health care system. “I knew I needed a check-up, I just didn’t have the money,” says Peter of the period just before his health troubles struck. In early 2009 Case was diagnosed with a 99% blocked artery that would require drastic and immediate open-heart surgery. ‘I had no idea how I could pay for it but the doctors just took great care of me and asked no questions. I owe them my life.” One double bypass, five days in intensive care and a six-figure medical bill later, Case was on the mend. “For a good while there I just hung out and listened to jazz records. I was in a very diminished chord kind of mood.” But all that changed while prepping the reissues of albums by his early rock outfits The Plimsouls and The Nerves. “I had to master them and it really got me going hearing those guitars.” Following an especially rocking sold-out gig at McCabe’s, he started working out tunes he’d been assembling in the previous months. “I started on Friday and by the end of the day Tuesday we’d pretty much cut the entire album. We just did it. I didn’t know if anyone would ever put it out. That didn’t matter.” Full-on electric and loaded down with dirty, raw blues riffs, Wig! was cut largely live and all definitely straight to analog tape. “It felt really good to just rock again after my ordeal.” With X skin-pummeler DJ Bonebrake on drums, Ron Franklin on guitar and keys and underground Memphis garage rock instrument switchers The Oblivians filling out the line-up, getting the heart pumping with plenty of rawk is no problem. When asked if he ever thought of giving it up or changing lifestyles, Peter chuckles, “I’m what you’d call ‘extremely over committed’ at this point.” Naturally, a national full band tour is in the works. Key Facts • 3 Time Grammy Nominated Artist • Features reworked solo classic "New Old Blue Car" • CD/LP feature download codes for bonus Peter Case music Retail: Interest in Peter has been very high this past year, with reissues and live releases of his early career with the Nerves and Plimsouls. Consumers are re-discovering his music and embracing his story. Poster and instore play CDs are available by emailing mike@yeproc.com. RADIO: Look Out! The first single will be serviced to AAA Non-Commercial, CMJ Core and Americana on June 14/15th. The focus on this release will be targeting the big Americana and Non-Comm stations where Peter has a history. Major targets will be WXPN World Cafe and KCRW Morning Becomes Eclectic. Since Peter has had a history with Folk and Rock show programmers, servicing will span across a number of targets including even a few Rockabilly and Blues shows. PRESS: Response has been strong to the initial press release and people seem excited for this record. Some major feature targets will be LA Times, Fresh Air, Other nat'l NPR, Billboard, M, Paste, and the Associated Press. Peter's lack of insurance during his illness (and musician's in general) will be used as a story in publications like Newsweek and People. KNUT WONDER DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
There is simply too much music in the world these days, and little of it seems to embody what could be described as passion or even soul. Rarer still are the bands who have stuck around long enough to be considered consistent institutions of musical integrity and ingenuity. All but extinct are the bands that embody/possess the qualities above, and who have continued to produce, evolve and thrive despite deficient attention from the music buying public. While artists like THE MELVINS, NEUROSIS, CONVERGE and ENSLAVED have managed to plumb the depths of the various caverns of heavy metal/hardcore/loud rock and emerged atop mountains of accolades (while simultaneously making careers of their craft), KNUT have long labored in relative obscurity, churning out some of the finest all-enveloping-mathsludge-metal-pummelry known this (or that) side of the Atlantic. 16 years and 12 + releases into their existence KNUT have managed once again to top themselves and shame their peers with the creation of WONDER. A commentary on the human capacity for creative thought and numinous experience in the face of a violent and oppressive global-market ethos, WONDER stands as a testament to our will for survival and defiance in times of adversity and crippling doubt.... and, yeah, it's proof-positive that CELTIC FROST and Swatch ain't the only Swiss exports from which we may all reap unending benefits.

Artist: Africa Hitech Title: Hitecherous (EP) Overview Africa Hitech is more than a name; it is an ideology - one that embodies its member's passions for an eclectic diaspora of electronic styles, from dub and acid to UK garage, grime, techno, house and Jamaican dancehall. Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek stand at the intersection of all these styles (and more) and the result is a bass-fuelled manifesto: the opening salvo being “Blen”.
06.29.10 WRP9298
Created at Red Bull music Academy in 2007, Africa Hitech forms part of Mark Pritchard’s collective of projects – MPP Productions. MPP is a banner under which all the wide-ranging productions from this prolific producer can co-exist and released through Warp it includes Africa Hitech, Harmonic 313, new Reload material, and others. Essentially twisting the sonic palette of Detroit techno to fit their vision of postapocalyptic riddims, "Hitecherous" is all oxygen-sucking bass kicks and razor snares until Spacek comes in over choruses of insect synths. This is not the smooth Steve Spacek you may know from his eponymous band, this is Steve Spacek as a rudeboy from the future. Decrying haters trying to “take di piss”, his unique patois creates it’s own intriguing atmosphere.

The Grip Weeds, a critically-acclaimed Psychedelic Rock/Power Pop quartet, craft “sparkling, insanely catchy psyche-pop” with their vintage equipment. Brothers Rick (vocals, guitar) and Kurt (vocals, drums) Reil grew up playing music together in Central New Jersey and share Byrds-ian harmonies and songwriting duties. Kristin Pinell (lead guitar) rocks as intensely as Page or Clapton with her epic melodic leads. Michael Kelly (bass) rounds out the sound with lyrical lines. Psychedelic enough for record junkies and ’60s-retro fans, but edgy enough for the modern rock set. Strange Change Machine is an ambitious work drawing on a broad spectrum of influences – acoustic, electric and psychedelic – running the gamut from Clapton, Hendrix and even Yes, all brought into the 21st century. The vocals and guitar work are the best ever in the history of the band. In this double disc 24-song tour de force the band perfects their classic sound while diving into uncharted musical territory. Just when you thought guitar rock was dead, Kristin and Rick turn in career-defining performances, while drummer Kurt’s controlled chaos is the perfect foil for Michael’s aggressive yet melodic bass work. Whether they are belting out intergalactic rock (‘Speed of Life’), a lilting west coast groove (‘Be Here Now’) or a folk ballad fusing Peter Green and Lindsey Buckingham eras of Fleetwood Mac (‘Mistress Forest’), they rock and harmonize among the best. They also reinvent the Todd Rundgren classic ‘Hello It’s Me’ with Nuggets-style grit.
press quotes
“
We like to mix it up in Jersey and The Grip Weeds are a great example. A touch of John Lennon (and an appropriation of his character’s name in “How I Won The War”), a bit of The Byrds, A dash of The Kinks, pinch of The Who, and a dollop of more muscular Zombies and you get something quite original actually. And quite cool..
“
Little Steven
A Grip Weeds song is so distinctive and unique that it obliterates most pop pretenders, retro-mongers, and fetishists.

“Sunshine”, the new single from Steve Azar is climbing up the radio charts. In fact, Billboard just announced that “Sunshine” is the highest charting single on the “Country Radio Indicator Chart”, from an independent label since 2006! It just hit #30 on the Country Indicator Chart. The best news is that it still has its chart bullet, and should be high in the 20’s or even in the teens real soon! Sunshine is moving even faster than Steve’s 2003 smash “I don’t have to be til’ Monday” which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Country Singles chart! Fan reaction is great!
Single sales have grown at 20% per week since this song charted! Full line CD sales are growing steady!
