Kinski Stumbledown Terrace
“One of the finest rock bands Seattle has produced." The Seattle Times
Kinski’s journey through experimental melody and noise is a full-bore sensory thrill ride
Described by NME as “like Sabbath in a washing machine during a power surge,” Kinski is back to its original power trio format of Chris Martin (guitar), Lucy Atkinson (bass) and Barrett Wilke (drums)
After 25 years and nine albums, including a trio on Sub Pop and three for Kill Rock Stars, Kinski has toured internationally with the likes of Acid Mothers Temple, Mission of Burma, Dead Meadow, Comets on Fire, and somehow even Tool.
On their Comedy Minus One debut "Stumbledown Terrace, ” (cmo055) Kinski continues their exploration of heavy, provocative guitar-driven songs, sonorous rhythms, and emotional release.
Recorded with legendary producer Tim Green at Louder Studios, their new album fully captures the unmatchable energy and power of Kinski’s live shows.
Acclaim for Stumbledown Terrace
"Stumbledown Terrace will fill your need for loud-as-fuck transcendence, a black hole whorl of noise and hook that is, oddly comforting [I]t rocks hard enough to knock the stuffing out of your ears, and that’s worth a lot Hail Kinski ” — Dusted
"Stumbledown Terrace finds Kinski putting the power in power trio to the absolute max. The seven stadium-sized stoner rippers that make up their first album in seven years further raises the sonic bar that few come even close to approaching.” Treble
“[O]ne of the most interesting and dependable psychedelic bands of the 21st century. Anyone with ears open to the intersection of punky psychedelia like Television or the visionary subtext of Pacific Northwest garage rock should be worshipping this band ” Spectrum Culture
“ a nice, electric jolt of a reminder of how cool guitar music is " Rosy Overdrive

“This Is Real,” their first new music in almost two years, is the sublimation of the band’s restlessness, an electroclash torrent of pure noise and grit as Lydia Slocum screams: “If you’re not real / then I’m not real.” The band go full nightmare mode: We can’t wait for more. - FADER
"The song unfolds like a Pompeii-level eruption... 'This is Real' manages to feel both more structured and more spontaneous than anything feeble little horse has done so far—like it’s mutating unpredictably with every inharmonious guitar note." - Paste
“The Pittsburgh band’s first new song in two years puts a hyper-caffeinated, high-contrast spin on “pop-rock.” - Pitchfork
“This Is Real,” takes the juxtaposition between light and dark a step further, scavenging the Bandcamp archives of their feeble little peers and the sheen of hyperpop. If hyperpop and hardcore share some base resemblances—inhuman vocals (pitch-shifted roboticism, monstrous shrieks) and freneticism—then a group like feeble little horse, fluent in both mock whimsy and heavier techniques, is perfectly poised to disrupt them.” - Pitchfork

Ball is back from the grave! Wasted and slimy Swedish heavy psych speed freak power-trio. Dionysian fuck ‘n’ roll soaked in diabolical occult havoc. Drugged and toxic. Funky-proto-metal with a solid groove. Fucked-up, subhuman fuzz guitars Depraved, screaming vocals. Gut-rumbling bass and caveman groove drums. This is hard rock from hell.

RILO K ILEY
THAT’S HOW WE CHOOSE TO REMEMBER IT MAY 9TH, 2025
FOR THE SUPERFAN AND THE CURIOUS ALIKE, THIS IS THE BAND-CURATED ENTRY POINT AND CAREER-SPANNING COLLECTION OF SONGS FROM THE ONE AND ONLY RILO KILEY , WHO DEFINED A GENERATION AND CONTINUES TO INFLUENCE INDIE ROCK TO THIS DAY.
“...THE DIRECTNESS OF RILO KILEY’S STORYTELLING AIMS STRAIGHT FOR THE HEART” - PITCHFORK
“LEWIS IS A SINGULAR TALENT CAPABLE OF INCISIVE LYRICS AND FIERCE VOCAL STYLINGS; SENNETT’S DEFT GUITAR PLAYING IS STIRRING; PIERRE DE REEDER’S BASS PLAYING IS MELODIC AND UNOBTRUSIVE; AND JASON BOESEL’S DRUMMING IS ALTERNATELY UNDERSTATED AND THUNDEROUS.” - STEREOGUM
After a long absence, Rilo Kiley—Jenny Lewis, Blake Sennett, Jason Boesel, and Pierre “Duke” de Reeder— are back, with arms outstretched.
Over the years, a reunion “felt like a possibility, but it was never the right time,” explains Boesel. “Planning this reunion over these past months has been like reconnecting with family. We haven’t missed a beat,” says De Reeder. “The stakes are only to have a good time, to revel in this nostalgia. Getting to revisit and celebrate the music from that special time of our lives while experiencing it alongside a lot of people that lived it with us back when, and new folks alike.”
The new Rilo Kiley album, That’s How We Choose to Remember It, is a collection of career-spanning songs that hit its audience with a breath of honest, fresh air. “For some people, Rilo Kiley evokes a formative, emotional time in life, when you were maybe grasping for your place in the universe. We were too,” says Sennett. We’ve all got a memory or two with the songs of Rilo Kiley. Maybe belting “I Never” or requesting “The Frug,” at a show in the early 2000s. This latest collection celebrates the music so deeply held by many of us. Here’s to Rilo Kiley, their reunion, and the next generation of listeners to love this band as much as we do. Long live Rilo Kiley.

JESSE ED DAVIS:
TOMORROW MAY NOT BE YOUR DAY
STREET DATE:
MAY 9, 2025
We at Real Gone Music have something in common with some of the most famous artists in rock and roll: Jesse Ed Davis is one of our favorite sidemen. Indeed, the Native American guitarist was the “go-to” guy for a remarkable group of musicians. Starting in the mid-‘Sixties, he toured with Conway Twitty, then became a key part of Taj Mahal’s band, including an appearance on The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. Jesse also paired up with Leon Russell to play on Bob Dylan’s single “Watching the River Flow,” and, perhaps most famously, accompanied George Harrison during the Concert for Bangla Desh, followed by work on various solo albums by John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Gene Clark, Leonard Cohen, and Jackson Browne (that’s Jesse taking the solo on his 1972 breakout hit “Doctor My Eyes”).
All this activity caught the eye of ATCO Records, who released his debut LP Jesse Davis in 1971 featuring Leon Russell, Eric Clapton, Gram Parsons, Merry Clayton, Ben Sidran, John Simon (producer of The Band), Alan White (of Yes), and many others including Delaney Bramlett behind the mixing desk. A year later, Atco released Ululu containing some of the same all-stars, plus Duck Dunn, Jim Keltner, and Dr. John – and a version of George Harrison’s “Sue Me, Sue You Blues” before even George recorded it.
Of late, there’s been something of a Jesse Ed Davis revival. Besides our releases, he was a major figure in the documentary Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World… and 2024 saw the release of a full-fledged biography, Washita Love Child: The Life and Times of Jesse Ed Davis, by Dr. Douglas Miller. Now, we at Real Gone Music are thrilled to announce the release of Tomorrow May Not Be Your Day: The Unissued Atco Recordings 1970-1971, a CD consisting of, as the title says, recordings taken from Jesse’s sessions for his two Atco solo records that were unreleased until this collection. Along the way you’ll find completely unreleased songs (“Slinky Jam”), unexpected covers of “Ain’t No Beatle,” “Kansas City,” and “Tracks of My Tears,” unissued instrumentals (including a version of Dylan’s “Love Minus Zero/No Limit”), and an entire side featuring alternate versions of Jesse’s masterpiece, “Washita Love Child.” Remastered by Mike Milchner at Sonic Vision, and featuring notes by Dr. Miller festooned by photos contributed by Jesse’s son William “Billy” Noriega, Tomorrow May Not Be Your Day: The Unissued Atco Recordings 1970-1971 represents a major, major archival find from one of rock’s most intriguing characters.

Hey, hard rock and metal fans—ready for another classic, early ‘90s album that never before made it to vinyl here in the States? Did we hear you say “Yeah!?” Then may we present Tyketto: Don’t Come Easy! This is another great, rockin’ record that got lost in the grunge craze that swept the music industry, and, just like our recent reissue of Wildside’s Under the Influence, it’s the debut release from a band that should have blown up much bigger than they did. You no doubt remember their single “Forever Young;” but the rest of the album offers melodic hard rock of the highest order, especially on tracks like “Burning Down Inside” and the power ballad “Standing Alone.” Excellent vocal work from former Waysted frontman Danny Vaughn, too. In 2005, the Grand Rapids band Still Remains dropped their first studio album Of Love and Lunacy, and since that time its reputation has only grown as one of the great lost classics of the metalcore genre. Now, with full support of the band, we at Real Gone are releasing Of Love and Lunacy on vinyl for the first time to celebrate its 20th anniversary. It’s not just the musicianship that sets this record apart, though this band’s ability to punctuate pummeling passages with fantastically progressive melodic interludes is definitely one of its calling cards. It’s also the impassioned poetry of the lyrics, which often employ startling, spiritually-tinged imagery to express extreme states of emotion. Too sensitive for some? Maybe. But it also rocks like all get-out, especially in this remastered-for-vinyl (by Mike Milchner at Sonic Vision) edition. Jungle swirl pressing at Gotta Groove Records, limited to 750 copies, complete with a color printed inner sleeve with lyrics.

Béla Fleck & THE FLECKTONES
Flight of the Cosmic Hippo
(Limited Cobalt Blue Vinyl Edition)
STREET DATE: MAY 9, 2025
How many albums virtually upend a genre? And how many erstwhile bluegrass bands top a contemporary jazz chart?! The answer to these questions, is, one, very few, and two, only Béla Fleck & the Flecktones! Their second album, 1991’s fancifully entitled Flight of the Cosmic Hippo, did indeed top Billboard’s contemporary jazz albums chart and scored a couple of Grammy noms. But more importantly, this record really made explicit the Flecktones’ bebop leanings, as they devised the term “Blu-Bop” to describe their unique fusion of bluegrass and jazz. Stylistic whiplash has never felt so good or sounded so sweet; check out their warm, instrumental wizardry on chestnuts like “Michelle” and “The Star Spangled Banner”…and don’t miss Béla’s banjo power chords on “Turtle Rock!” We had Mike Milchner at Sonic Vision remaster this classic for vinyl for maximum fidelity, and gave it a repress in cobalt blue vinyl limited to just 900 copies. Essential!

STREET DATE: MAY 9, 2025
Bob Moog’s invention of the analog Moog synthesizer ignited an explosion of creativity across the music spectrum. On the classical side, there was Isao Tomita and Wendy Carlos; on the more avant-garde side, such artists as Mort Garson and Craig Leon used the new technology to explore the limits of sound production while rockers like Keith Emerson incorporated the technology into their music. And, of course, there was also a silly pop side to the synth mania, or “moogsploitation” as some wags put it; albums by The Moog Machine, The Happy Moog, and other similarly-entitled acts provide good examples of that. But the one man straddling all these camps was Gershon Kingsley. Kingsley studied with John Cage before making a pair of groundbreaking albums with fellow electronic music pioneer Jean-Jacques Perry (their “Baroque Hoedown” was the theme for the Main Street Electrical Parade attractions in Walt Disney theme parks). Kingsley then embarked on a solo career and scored an instant hit with this album, 1968’s Music to Moog By, and its signature track, “Pop Corn.” “Popcorn” (one word) became an international smash for Hot Butter four years later, but Music to Moog By also caught consumer ears with its blend of originals, classical, and especially versions of Beatles tunes (though you will have to excuse the egregious misspelling of “Paperback Writer” as “Paperback Rider”)! Ever in pursuit of pop music’s most eccentric manifestations, we at Real Gone are proud to reissue Music to Moog By for the first time in the U.S., complete with the 8-page “The Book of Moog” that was inside some original copies. JACKIE DeSHANNON: LOVE FOREVER— DEMO RECORDINGS 1966-1968
STREET DATE:
MAY 9, 2025
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jackie DeShannon got her start singing gospel at home and in church as a child in her native Kentucky, and then singing country songs in her teens on her own weekly radio show, followed by rockabilly in the late 1950s. But her career really started in full swing after she moved to Los Angeles in the early 1960s and signed to Liberty Records and its song publishing arm, Metric Music, where she would write on her own as well as in collaboration with Sharon Sheely, Randy Newman, Jack Nitzsche, and Jimmy Page. Her recordings during this time initially emphasized rhythm-and-blues material and then embraced the folk era blending with west coast country rock and the Southern California sound.
As a staff member of Metric Music, Jackie created a countless number of demo recordings. Although some of these have appeared on unofficial/bootleg CDs over the years and a few were sprinkled in her with her Liberty/Imperial releases, there has never been a complete authorized commercial issue of DeShannon demos until now.
Covering the years 1966-68, LOVE FOREVER offers over 16 demo selections by Jackie which reflect the decade’s shift to a more introspective songwriting approach. Although Jackie enjoyed major hit singles such as “What the World Needs Now Is Love” and her evergreen anthem “Put a Little Love in Your Heart,” her craftsmanship as a tunesmith took a more personal tack here. And with recollections by Lady Love herself incorporated into Richie Unterberger’s liner notes as well as photographs from her private collection, LOVE FOREVER paints a picture of a timeless artist evolving with the times, on her way to new creative territory in the 1970s with career crowning compositions and recordings at Capitol, Atlantic, Columbia, and Amherst Records. And best of all, 10 of the 16 tracks have never appeared ANYWHERE previous to the release of this collection, so most of the tunes and tracks on LOVE FOREVER will be new even to DeShannon devotees!

PETULA CLARK: SOLITUDE & SUNSHINE THE SONGS OF ROD MCKUEN
(EXPANDED EDITION)
STREET DATE: MAY 9, 2025
When Grammy-winning artist Petula Clark met poet-songwriter-singer Rod McKuen in France during the 1960s, they became fast friends. Petula, of course, was one of the biggest music stars in the world and in the midst of a long string of hits in both English and French. For his part, McKuen was a huge fan of Petula, naming her his favorite female vocalist; and by the mid-1970s, they had performed together on several television programs. Inspired by Petula’s recorded versions of his dramatic environmental anthem “The Wind of Change” and the tender ballad “I Think of You,” McKuen resolved to put together an entire album of his compositions for Petula just like he had done with Frank Sinatra on his 1969 release A Man Alone. The project was announced, but it took a few decades to come to fruition; finally, after her acclaimed runs with the musicals Blood Brothers and Sunset Boulevard on Broadway and in London, and national tours across the United States, Petula and Rod were able to synchronize their schedules in 2005. Multiple sessions at Hollywood’s Private Island Trax studio and an overdub session in Geneva would yield 20 favorites from the McKuen songbook, passionately and poignantly sung by England’s most successful female singer of the 20th century. A limited-edition, 14-track CD available from Rod’s website and Petula’s fan club quickly sold out, and now SOLITUDE & SUNSHINE - The Songs of Rod McKuen is coming to retail for the first time in a newly expanded edition including 6 bonus tracks, 5 unreleased! The CD includes extensive liner notes written by both Rod and Petula along with rare photos. A huge find for fans of either artist!

lamb: An Extension of Now—Unreleased Recordings 1968-69
STREET DATE: MAY 9, 2025
“Underground” is a relative term. One could argue that all the ‘60s San Francisco psychedelic bands were underground, because the music they made was so far removed from the pop and rock sounds that came before them. But of all the bands in the scene, Lamb was perhaps the most underground of them all. It wasn’t just that their blend of rock, folk, classical, country, blues, and gospel was as hard to classify as any of the era. It was also their vibe. Along with classically trained guitarist and songwriting partner Bob Swanson, Barbara Mauritz’s versatile vocals paced material often imbued with a haunting, mystical aura. Yet they could also be earthy and rootsy, occasionally drifting into spacey psychedelia with hints of raga-rock.
Released in the early ‘70s, Lamb’s first two albums, A Sign of Change and Cross Between, did indeed offer some of the most intriguing and eclectic music of any San Francisco rock band on the psychedelic scene. But Lamb’s history predated the release of those records by a good couple of years or so. So prolific were Mauritz and Swanson that quite a few of their original compositions didn’t make it onto their albums, though these were often on par with the songs that did find official release. Unlike many bands of the time who had a bounty of surplus quality tunes, Lamb often taped these in studios and studio-like rehearsal conditions, as well as making some professional tapes of their live performances. Fortunately, many of those tapes survive, including a good number of songs that didn’t find a place on their LPs, as well as substantially different versions of some that did. The best of these from the late 1960s find release for the first time on An Extension of Now: Unreleased Recordings 1968-1969. This collection not only rounds out our picture of one of San Francisco rock’s finest underappreciated acts, but also serves as a first-class document of Lamb as they made their transition from a more standard rock outfit to a group not easily comparable to any other in the region, or indeed any other anywhere. Our black vinyl and CD (with extra tracks, limited to 500) releases feature liner notes by Richie Unterberger drawn from an interview with Bob Swanson, who has also contributed photos and memorabilia from his private archive. Produced by noted Bay Area archivist Alec Palao…if you’re a fan of late-‘60s S.F. psych, you have to hear this!
XMAL DEUTSCHLAND
Gift: The 4AD Years
3xLP/2XCD containing new remasters of Fetisch, Tocsin and EPs Incubus Succubus II & Qual
The extraordinary impact Xmal Deutschland had upon British audiences in the early Eighties is difficult to convey forty years on. A spell was cast by the staccato rhythms, unmediated channels and mysterious (to us) language of their music, and by the vision and strength of the women involved. Their first two albums with 4AD dazzled and dug deep, speaking in tones and temperatures unlike any band before or since. “And at some point, it seemed to people we just...disappeared,” muses singer Anja Huwe. “So this myth of Xmal Deutschland just got bigger and bigger over the years…”
Commemorating their ‘4AD years’ (1983-1984), the mysteriously enchanting group returns now with a brand new release entitled Gift: The 4AD Years, a limited-edition 3xLP / 2xCD containing 2025 Abbey Road remasters of their two albums released with the label (Fetisch and Tocsin), as well as tracks off other related releases and EPs including Incubus Succubus II and Qual, creating a package pulsating with power and poise.
Gift’s striking cover artwork — featuring photography by Peter Schulte — was designed by Timothy O’Donnell, based on original art by 23 Envelope. It accompanies original sleeve photography by Nigel Grierson. Rounding out the package is an additional photo booklet containing images by Kevin Cummins, Paul Slattery, Sheila Rock, and more, as well as text by Chris Roberts.
Xmal Deutschland’s Gift: The 4AD Years will be available on 3xLP Transparent Red Vinyl and 2XCD.
Marty Willson-Piper is an English guitarist, singer, and songwriter best known as a longtime member of the Australian band The Church (1980–2013). With a career spanning over 45 years, he has contributed to a wide range of musical projects, including his solo work, collaborations with All About Eve and The Saints, and his own band, Noctorum.
In 2025, Willson-Piper launched Archaeological Dig - Volume 1, the first in a planned trilogy of releases where he re-records over 30 songs from his extensive catalog. This re-imagined collection features ten songs from different time periods, played with strings, acoustics, piano, and keyboards while still incorporating bass, drums, and multi-layered vocals. The album revisits material from his solo career—including selections from In Reflection (1987), which also received a Record Store Day 2025 reissue, and Art Attack (1988)—as well as songs from his tenure with The Church, drawing from landmark albums like Heyday (1985) and Starfish (1988).
Included in Volume 1 are fan favorites like "Tristesse," originally featured on Heyday (1985), and "Spark," from the platinum-selling Starfish (1988). These songs highlight the diversity of Willson-Piper’s catalog and showcase his evocative songwriting and signature guitar work.
Adding to the album’s distinctive presentation, the cover art for Archaeological Dig features a themed sci-fi illustration, with each of the three volumes depicting Willson-Piper in a different setting alongside UFOs. The release is available across all planets and throughout the galaxy via the In Deep boutique label in conjunction with Schoolkids Records.
Blending psychedelic rock, folk, and alternative influences, Willson-Piper’s music remains deeply atmospheric and introspective. Beyond his recording career, he is also an avid vinyl collector, music historian, and passionate champion of independent artistry.

THE BOBBY LEES Beauty Pageant
Recorded at Dreamland Studios (a literal converted church) in 2017, this long-out-of-print record is now back in print on both vinyl and, for the first time, CD formats. The Bobby Lees’ “Beauty Pageant” overflows with the kind of raw punk energy you can only bottle once—when you’re young enough to play every chord like it might be your last.
“A Woodstock, NewYork garagerock quartet with sex, sweat, and lightning bolts of electricity surging through their collective veins.”- POPMATTERS. “Primal, rural, feral, rock’n’roll.” - LOUDER THAN WAR. “Storming to the scene with a howling sense of rebellion and nonconformity.”ALTERNATIVE PRESS
Deradoorian (Decisive Pink, Dirty Projectors) returns with ‘Ready for Heaven’, dealing with heaven and earth, damnation and salvation. It is a classic forty-minute set of inquisitive pop songs, blessed with a lightness of touch and a sharp focus that can’t help but charm the listener. It conjures up some last, faint afterglow of the old belief that an electronic, programmed beat can smash itself - and you - into another, more egalitarian consciousness
It is a remarkable fact that this bold and open-hearted record is made by one person, working alone. Repeatedly reworking the songs until they were complete is a painstaking process that generated an energy and space where Angel Deradoorian could indulge in the arcana of her artform. “I love the production more than the songwriting. [...] In fact, I don’t even feel like a songwriter at times, I feel like someone who is just inspired by so much music. And I want to try it all out! Like Lizzy Mercier Descloux, Mingus, or ESG and Silver Apples, or making weird krautrock and industrial music. I love dub, and Sly and Robbie. I love the productions of those records and the collective energies released by their creators in the studio. It’s just a weird thing to do it by yourself!”
Engaging with past musical glories helps deal with a major theme of this album; the awful nature of the world around us. Deradoorian: “This album is partly about watching humanity erode. It’s about mental struggle, and it’s avowedly anti-capitalist. I mean; would we have all these identity labels we have to live by, if we didn’t live in a capitalist world?”
A lot of the lyrical content deals with the struggle to be a human being in the modern world, and the determination to keep on keeping on. But even when a darker mood informs a track, as with ‘Hell Island’ or ‘Digital Gravestone’, there are arrangements that seduce and hooks that ensnare.
We are dealing with a world where there is too much chaos to cut through and where human connections are burnt dry. ‘Ready for Heaven’ is an avowedly human response to the world we find ourselves in, and Deradoorian uses every ounce of her reserves of wit and knowledge to create a source of comfort and solace for the listener.

Little Blue, the latest album from Nashville artist Kristina Murray was recorded with producers Misa Arriaga and Rachael Moore. The collection grapples with loneliness, desperation, and existential crises through a series of cinematic snapshots of small-town burnouts and last call lovers. Murray is a country artist in the truest sense, a genuine craftswoman with a keen eye and ear for the little details that bring her working-class characters to life, and her delivery is timeless, blurring the lines between the old school honky-tonk, swampy Americana, and R&B-infused southern rock she grew up on in her home state of Georgia. If Murray sounds like a seasoned vet on Little Blue, that’s because she is. While the album marks her Normaltown debut, Murray’s spent the last decade since moving to Nashville paying her dues in an endless series of dive bars and juke joints, and the result is an electrifying introduction to an artist only just beginning to get the kind of wider recognition her talent has long warranted.
“I’ve been to some pretty low places these last ten years,” Kristina Murray confesses. “Faced a lot of heartbreak and loss and grief, but you have to learn to live with those things if you’re going to survive. You have to persevere.” That spirit of perseverance forms the bedrock of Little Blue

With Esquina, Michael Sarian takes a sharp turn into expansive, pulsating jazz fusion, once again joined by the same musicians from his previous three releases. The album features wild, John Hassell-esque processed trumpet, alongside synthesizers, electric organs, and pianos, all set to galloping rhythms reminiscent of Miles Davis' Agharta and On the Corner albums. Esquina includes a fantastic rendition of “Glory Box”, originally by trip-hop legends Portishead.

I’m Sad as Hell and I’m Not Going to Fake It Anymore is the best, sharpest, briefest, and fourth record from Paper Castles, the band fronted by Jericho, Vermont’s Paddy Reagan In one way, it’s a simple and modest collection of nine fuzzy guitar-led pop songs. The title, a play on the iconic scene from Network (written by Paddy Chayefsky), can be clocked as nothing more than that at first glance, playful But like the music behind it, Reagan thinks you can sit with the title as long as you want It is meant to be a reflection of how sadness is a primary emotion that when left unprocessed, unaddressed, and suppressed manifests as anger. The sentiment is real according to the source: “sadness and grief are part of the human experience and they are hard,” says Reagan, “but the gift is the opportunity to process these things through art and community, to find a way through to find joy.”
I'm Sad as Hell was tracked by Benny Yurco (Michael Nau, Lily Seabird, Robber Robber) in a little over eight hours across two days, a testament to the quartet’s perfection of these songs on those stages, and to Yurco’s comfortable Little Jamaica Recordings in Burlington Bassist Emily Tompkins and drummer Brennan Mangan lock into a wonderful foundation for Wren Kitz’s lolling guitar lines on “Clean + Organized,” while on “Avalon,” the band sings harmony for the most ironic line in the waltz (“We don’t really want company”) before their instruments explode into technicolor “Lying Here” showcases PC deftly navigating washed out verses and tight knit, twangy choruses, all in a tidy, under-three minute package
Lyrically, Reagan is at his finest: playful and poignant, biting and beautiful Double entendres and clever wordplay abound a line like “it's not the ideals but the high heels that’ll
make you a man” from “Modern Myth” will leave you wishing John Prine was still around to hear it On “Name Changer,” when Reagan sings “I’ll never change my name again / Got a real good handle and I don’t want to give it in,” what kind of “handle” is he referring to? I’d like to think Elvis Costello would smile at most lines in the Attractions rave-up “Content Creator,” but especially this verse: “Here’s a new joint, set the price point / And tell the kids about what ain’t and what is / Hallelujah, it’s a new year, but you’re still not on the list / That’s how they screw ya / try again in 2026”

“Planet Mu 30” offers an exhilarating snapshot of Mike Paradinas' pioneering label in 2025.
Planet Mu continues to carve its own unique and exciting path, proving that electronic music remains some of the most intriguing and challenging work today, always slightly outside the relentless churn of the dance music industry. It's a fleet-footed label whose artists look towards the future; yet echoes of Planet Mu’s past—ranging from jungle, dubstep and glitchy hip-hop to banging techno, electronica and breakcore—still resonate through its new generation of talent.
The compilation features fresh material from familiar names like Venetian Snares, Luke Vibert, Ital Tek and FaltyDL as well as Mike Paradinas himself as µ-Ziq, which sit alongside the 160bpm footwork artists that Planet Mu has successfully nurtured, including Jlin, Traxman, DJ Manny, RP Boo, Jana Rush and Elmoe.
On the other hand, newer artists like Nondi_, Rian Treanor, Xylitol, Saint Abdullah and Eomac, DJ Girl and Speaker Music have recently contributed some of the label’s most exciting music. The compilation also teases unreleased music from fresh additions to the roster, including Nik Colk Void, Rev, BAE BAE, Ship Sket, Slikback, and James Krivchenia.
It’s an exciting time to be listening to Planet Mu in 2025.

King Hüsky’s songs offer a surprising change of perspective. Not only because they are countless split jumps away from the music Vidar Landa - who hides behind the alias - has created as a guitarist and hard rocker in legendary Kvelertak. But because they move so effortlessly from the «inner space» of young uncertainty before spiralling off to outer space. On his own, Landa appears as an over-thinker from Forus, suburb of Stavanger, Norway, with a soft spot for dark humor and the local author Johan Harstad’s novels. This self-titled debut album could become guitar-driven alternative pop’s answer to the classic cookbook «From Buns to Burritos»: from extravagant pyro to unpaid giro: where young men’s psyche remains dangerously porous, credit debt looms and conspiracy theories team up with dubious New Age experiments – and the megalomania of an introvert is overpowered by the urge to just do something nice for mom.
Actualising the concept of King Hüsky, Landa’s contentment to work in the closest of circles was happily indulged by recording and producing the album with his partner, Anne Lise Frøkedal, formerly of Norwegian indie-pop machine, Harrys Gym and of the ongoing, I Was A King. Frøkedal’s influence, now performing under her surname with a progressive, widely-recognised folk-pop catalogue, has been complimented by drummer, Børge Fjordheim (Cloroform, Sivert Høyem) and friend, musician and actor, Arthur Berning

TUNE-YARDS Better Dreaming
Distraction, depression, and heartbreak reign supreme in 2025. “Making art in this day and age for me is a battle for focus; we’re in an age of interruption,” says Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards on sixth album Better Dreaming. Proudly waving an anti-fascist, liberation, freak flag, Better Dreaming contains some of Tune-Yards smoothest, funkiest, and most direct pop music to date, and yes, you can dance to it.
Its songs came to Garbus and bandmate/partner Brenner with unusual ease, letting the songs come out, following any trail they wished. After covid-isolation, and time away from touring and live shows, the desire to be moved by music was undeniable. The insane experience of growing an actual human being influenced this as well. Garbus and Brenner’s 3-year-old can be heard singing on “Limelight”; the song was born from dancing together as a family to George Clinton.
Recorded as a duo, all but one of these songs are built around Merrill’s drum looping and rhythm building, as they were on some of their early albums like Bird-Brains and W H O K I L L. Opening track “Heartbreak” builds huge chords of Garbus’ vocal harmony around a fat beat full of clicks, pops, samples, and dubbed snares. Garbus sings of heartbreak as fuel, as a challenge; lyrics like “Watch me survive another heartbreak” hit like a call to action. Four-on-the-floor “How Big is the Rainbow” drips with disco-house, queer-club, anthemic strobe energy.
Better Dreaming is ferocious in its invocation of self-love, collective action, dance floor liberation, ego-death deliverance, and a future we could all thrive in. When diving into the present darkness of the world, Tune-Yards asks themselves how much literal energy and joy can be conjured and pumped through the music. In its life-affirming art-pop of the apocalypse, Better Dreaming comes true.

José James
A jazz artist for the hip-hop generation, José James artfully blurs the lines between traditional and contemporary jazz, hip-hop, soul, funk, pop and rock. He has released 13 critically-acclaimed albums in as many years for labels such as Brownswood, Impulse, Blue Note and his own co-founded Rainbow Blonde Records, and is the recipient of both the Edison Award and L’Académie du Jazz Grand Prix. James has collaborated with many notable artists such as Flying Lotus, Robert Glasper, Lalah Hathaway, Ledisi, Aloe Blacc and Jason Moran.
“Catch up with José James now because he’s a rarity – an artist evolving at warp speed.”
—NPR All Things Considered
“[James] sounds like the result of the black-pop continuum, jazz and soul and hip-hop and R&B, slow-cooked for more than 50 years.”

CORB LUND MODERN PAIN
Modern Pain by Corb Lund, originally released in 1994, is finally getting its first vinyl release after over thirty years. The album by one of Canada’s most beloved and revered songwriters captures the raw and do-it-yourself nature of his early acoustic and folk records. The album showcases songs that range from upbeat, punchy numbers like “Expectation and the Blues,” which was one of the first songs Lund wrote, to sentimental tracks like “We Used to Ride ‘em,” inspired by his father’s retirement from steer wrestling. “Modern Pain was my very first record of folk/acoustic/western/non-metal songs. I did it when I was still in my rock band, The Smalls. I made it in a basement on the cheap and it sounds like it,” says Lund, “But I still dig the songs. And it has an innocent, indie charm that there’s no way I could recreate now. They say limitation is good inspiration. I gave away hundreds of these to people in the early days.”
This limited edition release is part of the Corb Lund - Dark Horses Club. New West Records will be releasing unreleased records and material from Corb Lund throughout 2025 and 2026.

Shamir’s final solo statement, Ten, is less a swan song than an act of creative transference. A decade into a career that has defied cohesion, industry expectation, and even the artist’s own trajectory, the album functions as both a celebration and a shedding. It is a love letter to the friends who have shaped Shamir’s life, musically and otherwise—a tight, ten-song set of tracks sourced entirely from the songwriting archives of those closest to him. The result is as much a communal artifact as it is a personal epilogue.
As with much of Shamir’s work, the creation of Ten was an exercise in instinct. The concept was deceptively simple: gather songs from friends—scraps, castaways, unused demos, whatever was on hand—and inhabit them as if they were his own. The only original composition written explicitly for the record was “Offline” by Ben Lee, but even that was unsolicited. Every other track came from the existing wells of songwriters like Andrew Harmon of Like St. Joan, Grant Pavol, Mackenzie Ruth Scott of Torres, and Maryam Said of Poolblood, each of whom has played some role in the long arc of Shamir’s story.
If Ten is an act of letting go, it is also an act of preservation. The album arrives on the ten-year anniversary of Shamir’s debut, with ten songs, on May 19—a date which numerologically distills down to ten. That unintentional symmetry makes the farewell feel eerily preordained. The album, produced by Allen Tate of San Fermin, is built from live instrumentation, a departure from the digital pastiche of earlier Shamir records, more polished than some of Shamir’s lofi rock. Ten leans into the organic: there is a warmth in the arrangements, an intimacy in the performances. Drums rattle in imperfect unison, guitars hum with a tangible resonance. It is, in many ways, a band record.
There is melancholy in Ten , but no bitterness. On “I Know We Can’t Be Friends,” Grant Pavol distills the post-breakup purgatory into soft resignation, while “29” (written by Sizzy Rocket) lays out the existential exhaustion of approaching your thirties with nothing but the weight of past selves. The song was originally titled “25,” realigned with Shamir’s own age to connect further. But there are also moments of levity, of revelation. The wry fatalism of “Die” turns mortality into a cosmic joke; “Golden” basks in a love so pure it could only exist in dreams.
Ten is not the sound of an artist burning out. It is the sound of an artist setting himself free.
3 CLASSIC 5RC ALBUMS BACK IN PRINT ON CD
“Each track or Knife Play is like a rock song captured in a photo negative, with all the hidden details brought frighteningly to the fore. It's a debut clearly in the debt of post-punk, one that has cut up and contorted itself to fit into the few cracks that albums in the past haven't reached.” – Pitchfork
HELLA : THE DEVIL ISN”T RED
“‘The Devil Isn't Red’ systematically shakes down like it was the rocker's score to upper- level Tetris – no matter how swiftly the pieces descend, Hella manage to drop them in place.” – Pitchfork
“...Seim's finger-flying, trebly electric guitar and Hill's tom-spattering percussion style is still Hella's main method of destruction...” – AllMuisc
“It’s one bad motherfu**in’ art-metal record.” – dustedmagazine
Xiu Xiu's originality is sensible. it's not something that insults the audience or listener (like making an album that's entirely static or non-rhythmic nonsense), it's something that chooses to take a different path, but invites the listener to join. Quivering vocals, electronic drums with random ADD outbursts, acoustic guitars, yet this whole record comes together as being very cohesive.

Words from Gruff Rhys on American Interior (2025 Remastered Bonus Edition)
Revisiting American Interior 11 years later, feels very prescient. In following the unusual story of explorer John Evans (1770-1799), it becomes clear that faked narratives can have profound and unpredictable consequences in real life.
His barely believable journey of verification in searching through continental scale wilderness for a [fictitious] Welsh speaking tribe believed to be living on the Great Plains of North America (an ancient folk tale perpetuated by the Elizabethan court following the subjugation of Wales, to make colonial claims on behalf of the British on the Americas) had a dramatic political effect on the fledgling USA and a devastating impact on himself and some of those who helped him on his way.
I wrote an album of songs inspired by his life; American Interior, which also served as a soundtrack to a documentary film based on a book that detailed his journey, intertwined with my own investigative concert tour, all three of which I worked on simultaneously.
It took me a while to process the whole experience and its lessons and feel I owe it to my former self to take these songs back on the road for a couple of months and re-tell the story for a new decade.

Lampland Get Serene
Get Serene is the third album from NYC’s Lampland, the band and recording project of Tommy Bazarian. Produced by Katie Von Schleicher and Nate Mendelsohn (known for producing standout albums by Frankie Cosmos and Dougie Poole) the album is Lampland’s best collection yet - a showcase of their arty, Elliott Smith-inspired take on indie rock Katie Von Schleicher, one of New York’s finest songwriters in her own right, sings backing vocals on the album, along with Margaux Bouchegnies (known for her solo project, Margaux). The group draws on their shared influences: the grooves and experimental colors of Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, the grunge-y abandon of Porches’ early records, and the lofi shimmer of Chris Cohen’s home recordings For fans of Beck, Belle and Sebastian, and Yo La Tengo.

OVERVIEW
Eight years removed from his celebrated self-titled debut album, Motion Graphics (a.k.a. NYC electronic artist Joe Williams) has returned with a brand-new release, Glossolalia EP. A transcontinental collaboration with Japanese artist Utena Kobayashi, the record—which also features remixes from Portland ambient/new age duo Visible Cloaks and Japanese electronic music veteran Kuniyuki Takahashi—explores a delicate strain of ambient pop, its nuanced contours reflecting Williams’ unique ability to wield production technology in a way that feels not just poignant, but deeply human.
That skill is something Williams has spent years developing, most notably in his own work, but also in the service of others’ projects. While casual observers may think of the lengthy gap between Motion Graphics releases as a full-blown hiatus, Williams’ past eight years have been anything but restful. He contributed to FKA Twigs’ landmark 2019 album Magdalene, remixed iconic Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, collaborated with Visible Cloaks on the quietly majestic single “Terrazzo,” and also continued to be a part of Lifted, the musically adventurous, PAN-affiliated ensemble headed up by Future Times founder Maxmillion Dunbar. Additionally, he scored 12 O'Clock Boys, a documentary about dirt bike culture in West Baltimore—he was invited in 2019 to remix the soundtrack to Akira, one of the most venerated anime movies of all time, for a special installation by graphic artist YOSHIROTTEN at the Parco Museum in Tokyo.
Japanese music and culture have significantly influenced his own music, and listening to the lilting grooves, tender melodies and acoustic flourishes of “Sanka” and “Glossolalia,” it’s not hard to hear echoes of Japanese art-pop acts like Dip in the Pool and Yasuaki Shimizu. At the same time, Williams isn’t interested in mere pastiche; if anything, he’s drawn to the way that Japanese musicians have historically used technology as a vehicle to synthesize and recontextualize sounds from all around the globe. The best Japanese music often feels both inherently futuristic and disarmingly universal, and Motion Graphics is guided by a similar approach, which helps explain how both “Sanka” and “Glossolalia” can sound so beautiful and organic, despite the fact that they were not only constructed on William’s laptop, but were made without him and Utena Kobayashi ever being in the same room.

Les Louanges is the project of Vincent Roberge, singer-songwriter of raw talent and established musical audacity. Drawing inspiration from Frank Ocean, Robert Glasper and Richard Desjardins, the artist offers a modern panorama of R&B, jazz and soul coated in an alternative pop that seeks different soundscapes without ever losing its original groove. His straightforward poetry based on surrealistic and sensitive imagery clashes with his loose and casual phrasing.
La nuit est une panthère is the first full-length album from Les Louanges. Originally released in 2018, the album won Francophone Album of the Year at the Juno Awards and was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize.
Both down-to-earth and poetic, the 14 songs reflect his immense talent as an artist. Les Louanges sings in French and belongs to that new generation of Quebec artists whose main artistic approach is to deconstruct musical genres and styles. He leads the audience through a variety of different tones while staying true to his roots in his lyrics.

This latest helping of delights from Randy Gagne’s freaky pop-funk personage finds a further deepening of his collaborative conjury with producer Jeremy Greenspan (Junior Boys, Jessy Lanza) alongside spicy contributions from Lolina (fka. Inga Copeland), Sexy Merlin, Allie Blumas and others.
Growing up in a distant region of Ontario, young Randy Gagne found himself fascinated by a man-made hill running alongside a busy road, built to filter out the din of the local traffic. This hill, an organic but also strangely unnatural feature of the landscape, was the genesis of the project’s namesake, and it’s fertilized a rich creative terrain on which Gagne has ploughed 20+ DIY solo albums of lo-fi homegrown weirdness
Delicious Logo, the result of two years of close collaboration, marks Gagne’s second foray into a professional studio setting with Greenspan behind the mixing board. Building upon their 2022 joint effort, Mirage Repair (Orange Milk Records), this latest heap of miniature fantasies finds the pair widening their scope of sonic surveillance, and galvanizing their off-kilter pop sensibilities.

Chris Acker - Good Kid
Chris Acker’s sophomore album, Good Kid, is everything a country singer-songwriter album should be. It’s lively, honest, and catchy as hell. Acker’s songs deliver heartbreaking punchlines with cheeky pleasantries; a nod at the kind of old country humor found in staples such as Loretta Lynn’s “Fist City” and storytelling and disposition of a young John Prine. While there are traces of these predecessors, the songs remain authentically Acker. It’s clear he has a good time song writing, yet glimpses of darker, more poignant themes emerge in “Aloe Vera” and “Orion’s Gut.”
Good Kid is a rousing album with a well-balanced dose of pedal steel, bright organ, and infectious rhythm. Ross Farbe (Video Age) recorded most of the solo songs in the studio, while Duff Thompson (Mashed Potato Records) took on the full-band numbers in live recordings.
Originally released on March 5th, 2020, days before the COVID lockdown began in New Orleans and the rest of the country, ‘Good Kid’ is both a record that was swallowed by the world and one that firmly established Acker’s essential role in the country music landscape.

TOTALITY NATURAL INFORMATION SOCIETY & BITCHIN BAJAS
DC860 LP/CS
Street Date: April 25, 2025
NO SALES TO EU, UK, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, SELL EVERYWHERE ELSE WITH TOTALITY
Years past the space time of Automaginary, Bitchin Bajas and Natural Information Society have reported back at last from beyond. If the new title doesn’t clue you, Totality brings good news. Since their first collaboration, the pathways that lead from Natural Information Society ’s ecstatic all-world jazz to Bitchin Bajas’ microtonal soundscapes have grown ever finer in their articulation. Across the spectrum, the septet balance a deeply searching mood with wonderfully in-pocket production feel. This makes for collective aural transport of the highest order to all those listening in.
In the time since their 2015 first convergence, the Natural Information Society have released four albums (one in collaboration with Evan Parker, one with Ari Brown) and Bitchin Bajas five (one a soundtrack, one with Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, one featuring the songs of Sun Ra). Given the multivarious paths both groups have traveled, it makes sense that their second convergence seems to emanate from centuries, eons beyond or below some undefinable elsewhere from their first. Totality is that.
These days, Natural Information Society is populated differently. From the sextet NIS that co-created Automaginary, Joshua Abrams, Lisa Alvarado and Mikel Patrick Avery remain. In the stead of the departed former players is Jason Stein on bass clarinet. This might account for some mere impression of aspects of time, space and evolution to be found here but then again, Bitchin Bajas flow on in their long-standing trio configuration (Cooper Crain, Dan Quinlivan, Rob Frye), so the “people in the room” theory of how Totality ever got this way will only take us so far.
Also available from Natural Information Society & Bitchin Bajas:
Recorded in a single day with Greg Norman at Chicago’s Electrical Audio, then slowly considered into the finished record we hear here, Totality is a sweet-tempered second child. It experiences time in ways the first kid didn’t. If you’re in it for slow-shifting trance formations, it’s gonna be cool. There’s lots here for you, lots of simmering time and synth atmospheres dappled with radiant woodwinds but there’s some head-snapping hypno-rhythms that stand apart from the groove energies of the first one. It’s just natural facts: two different days in time separated by years, with the experience of several live encounters between the two groups in between. Beyond that, only the music can say anything else. That said, here are a few thoughts from this listener’s log
The low-key revolutionary thump of “Nothing Does Not Show” and “Clock no Clock” notwithstanding, Totality charts impressive new launch angles from NIS & BB’s improvisatory heart, with their careful listening and response time continually redefining the space in a relaxed manner that rewards deep zoners. Additionally, their blended corps assimilate marvelously on Abrams’ composition, “Always 9 Seconds Away.” Here, and with the aforementioned groovers, the collective resonates beyond familiar kraut/spiritual/minimal power lines, bringing new time conceptions to bear in the always-expansive space of this album event.
It's about time we got back to the singularly-divined space of Natural Information Society & Bitchin Bajas with Totality. That's the best way to way to define this new music it’s about time.

2023. "Let it first be said that the title track of The Hypnogogue, the first new album from The Church in six years, is one of the most breath-taking singles they’ve released in years, a darkly psychedelic six minutes that slowly spirals into a menacing descent. That alone is reason to keep this one on your radar; the Australian neopsych band have been going for over 40 years, with around a half dozen classic albums and zero bad ones, yet their ability to keep evolving and uncovering new aspects to their sound and approach only serves as a reminder of how vital they remain after four decades." After an epic return to homeland stages, Australian psych-rock legends The Church announce their forthcoming studio album The Hypnogogue Following on from 2017’s widely acclaimed Man Woman Life Death Infinity, the Sydney band’s 27th album was recorded just before the world was shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Formed in 1980, The Church found early chart success in their homeland, before establishing themselves as an international touring entity, earning a worldwide hit with the single ‘Under The Milky Way’ from their hit 1988 album Starfish, while their stellar live shows have been deemed ‘spectacular’ by MAGNET magazine and continue to win the hearts of industry and fans across the world.Often seen as the Godfathers of an Australian psych/prog scene generating such internationally successful names as Tame Impala and King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, The Church have gone on to maintain a loyal and far-reaching following as their fanbase has expanded with their evolving sound. Entering their fourth decade as a band, The Church continue to remain a treasured creative force.

Rambling on about the brilliance of Deb Googe and Cara Tivey is no difficult task - spot either of their names on a record’s sleeve credits and you’re guaranteed listening worthy of your time . . . and hard-earned cash! Deb joined My Bloody Valentine during its ascent to legend, filled a temporary void in Primal Scream, aids in Thurston Moore's late-period artistic high, formed Snowpony with Stereolab’s Katharine Gifford and plays bass in ex-Fall guitarist Brix Smith’s all-female band. Cara’s may be best known as a longtime Billy Bragg collaborator, but she’s played with an array of other outstanding artists, among them Everything But The Girl, Blur, Lilac Time, Au Pairs and the greatest living genius of the West Midlands, Robert Lloyd of Nightingales fame. Incredibly, despite decades of stellar work, neither Deb nor Cara has ever released an album under their own names until now with The Golden Thread, their full-length debut, made under the name da Googie + Cara Tivey. The album was wholly recorded in Deb’s home studio and performed exclusively by the duo. The album is preceded by a video for Dumb, an indictment of the sad state of the modern western world, which serves as a fine point of an entry into the album’s seemingly contradictory sonic elements: thick-yet-minimal soundscapes, the openness of dub put across in a densely claustrophobic style, a bass-driven sound melding effortlessly into moments of delicate piano, and lyrics which convey vast depths of meaning with only a mere handful of words.
