The Baseball Project Volume 2: High and Inside
NATIONAL release date: CD/lp: 03.01.2010 Following the success of the outfit’s first album Vol. 1: Frozen Ropes & Dying Quails – the band performed on The Late Show with David Letterman, was featured in the official World Series Program and Sports Illustrated among others – baseball’s sardonic rock chroniclers are back with Volume 2: High and Inside, an even more detailed look at the stories behind the stories of America’s Favorite Pastime. Their second season finds band members Steve Wynn (The Miracle 3, The Dream Syndicate), Scott McCaughey (The Minus 5, Young Fresh Fellows, R.E.M.), Linda Pitmon (The Miracle 3, Golden Smog) and Peter Buck (R.E.M.) drilling down even deeper into the Byzantine, lore-laden annals of baseball history. Volume 2 also includes guests spots by Craig Finn of The Hold Steady, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, Yo La Tengo’s Ira Kaplan, as well as Chris Funk and John Moen of The Decemberists, dispelling any fears of a sophomore slump. KEY FACTS: • All new material from the collaboration between members of R.E.M., Dream Syndicate, and Yong Fresh Fellows • Includes the National Champion San Francisco Giants’ anthem “Panda And The Freak” along with Minnesota Twins’ rebel song “Don’t Call Them Twinkies” featuring Craig Finn of The Hold Steady on lead vocals. • SPECIAL ATTENTION: The Baseball Project are coming to a ballpark near you, appearing at the 2011 Cactus League spring training, MLB and MiLB Opening Days, and much more! REtail: We will be doing targeted marketing in key markets across the nation. Marketing funds are available for key indies and regional chain programs starting on street date and running through March. We will also work with MLB and MiLB teams to secure counter displays in their ballpark stores. In-store play copies, promo items, and posters are available, as well as video widgets and banners to place on retail websites and eblasts: contact your sales rep or mike@yeproc.com. Large stations like KBCO Boulder and KFOG San Francisco have shown interest, promising increased exposure. We will be targeting CMJ, AAA non-commercial, and Select AAA. Supporters of Volume 1 will be included as primary targets in addition to our usual suspects (KEXP, KCRW, WFUV, SiriusXM, etc.) We will also send the record to Sports radio contacts at SiriusXM and ESPN. Gustafer Yellowgold’s Infinity Sock Morgan Taylor developed the “musical moving storybook” Gustafer Yellowgold experience as equal parts pop rock concert and minimally animated movie. Featuring guest artists John Stirratt and Pat Sansone of WILCO, along with John Munson (bassist for Semisonic and late ‘80s cult favorite Trip Shakespeare), Gustafer Yellowgold’s Infinity Sock is the first Gustafer Yellowgold DVD/CD package to have a storyline, unfolding in graphic novel fashion and weaving together ten thought provoking, melodic soft-rock music videos in the inimitable Gustafer Yellowgold style, ranging from sublime alt-pop to gentle acoustic. Groovy Gustafer Yellowgold is a little, yellow, coneheaded fellow, who came to Earth from the Sun and has a knack for finding himself neck-deep in absurd situations as he explores his new life. His best friend is Forrest Applecrumbie, the world’s last surviving pterodactyl, who staved off extinction with a sharp sense of fashion. Gustafer has a pet eel named Slim (short for Slimothy) and a menagerie of woodland creatures who curiously gather to share Gustafer’s solar warmth and quixotic sense of adventure. For recreation, he enjoys punching cheese and jumping on cake.

Phone: 212.505.8199 In Gustafer Yellowgold’s Infinity Sock, we find former Sun-dweller Gustafer Yellowgold Mobile: 917.771.5390 settling into his new Minnesota woodland home, finally beginning to understand what a Fax: 646.415.9148 strange and peculiar planet he landed upon! The story follows Gustafer, who begins an rachel@gustaferyellowgold.com ordinary day by washing his pet eel’s laundry, but soon embarks upon an hilarious, mindbending musical journey in search of the toe-end of the longest sock in the universe. Gustafer learns much along the way, as he encounters a Band of Bees performing at their late night hangout in the chime-and-timpani drama of ”Beehive,” joins in the Broadway romp “Wisconsin Poncho” (set in an all-cheese clothing store), and comes upon the pterodactyl’s unusually calm cat in the Fleetwood Mac lushness of “Cheddar,” all the while discovering that everyone has a use for The Sock. In an artful balance of poignancy and the absurd, Gustafer ponders his own curiosity in “Question Marks” (a tune in the classic folk tradition) and enjoys a fun, one-of-a-kind look at the interconnectivity among all life on earth in the uplifting, Bacharach-esque “Sock Of Ages.”
Bonus features include “Proof Or Foof (Is Gustafer Yellowgold Real?),” a visit with Professor Orel Harkness from the Huchaku Verification Center in St. Paul, Minnesota as he examines physical evidence from Gustafer sightings and answers viewer mail; “Gustafer Guitar Lessons” and “Draw Gustafer,” in which Morgan Taylor demonstrates his technique and shares a few fun facts! Since his creation in 2005, Gustafer Yellowgold has become an international phenomenon, described by the New York Times as “A cross between ‘Yellow Submarine’ and Dr. Seuss.” Entertainment Weekly praised “…The most infectious original songs. It’s like tapping into some pleasure center in the brain- both adult and kid…absurdly appealing. Grade: A.” New York Magazine named Morgan Taylor “Best Kids’ Performer”. It’s easy to talk about the “epic” quality of this or that record, its “cinematic” feel. And how many artists have you heard say, as Chris James, lead singer of Stateless, does that “I wanted the record to be like a journey”? But sometimes it’s true. Sometimes it just is true. Sometimes you have to hold up your hands and admit it. Welcome to “Matilda,” then, an eleven track, fifty minute follow-up to 2007’s eponymous debut, which takes all of those easy words and makes something concrete out of them. Working with Bjork producer/programmer Damian Taylor, “Matilda” ties together classic songwriting with rhythmic drive, slatherings of sub-bass and enough electronic interference to satisfy the most anal of glitch-nerds. The results are spectacular. From the atmospheric opening of “Curtain Call” you know you’re in for something special. The driving bass of first single “Ariel” is followed by the sinuous melody and building atmospherics of “Miles To Go.” “Visions” features lead vocals from bass player Justin Percival. “As a vocalist he really is something else,” says James. “I think more and more Stateless will become a twin vocal band. Well, it is already!” “Assassinations” rocks as hard as anything on the album, kidkanevil's heaviest beats driving it, with the electronic weight added by Taylor giving the whole tune real attack. “Red Ocean” functions as an ambient-folk interlude to clear the palate before “I’m On Fire,” a duet with Shara Worden of My Brightest Diamond, recorded in her Brooklyn front room over a bottle of wine. “Ballad of NGB” almost has the feel of contemporary r&b, if contemporary r&b producers were bugging out to Bartok’s Hungarian folk songs and working with the remarkable Balanescu Quartet. This world-renowned string group comes into its own on “Song For The Outsider” when, in addition to a superb string arrangement, violinist Alex Balanescu finishes things off with a vicious solo: “At the end of the take the control room was just speechless,” James remembers. “Everyone’s jaws just hit the floor, completely astounded. It was mindblowing.” “Junior” aches with longing and throbs with out-of-focus electronica. “I Shall Not Complain” finishes the album back somewhere in Eastern Europe, piano combining with one of the most beautiful melodies on the record to take us out on a melancholy, uplifting high.

Left Lane Cruiser’s third album for Alive Naturalsound records could be considered, in many ways, their best effort yet. “Junkyard Speed Ball” brings in the elements of the heavy, heart thumping, trash blues stomp they’re known for, but it also showcases a wider range, with some slower numbers that will make you groove. Recorded in Detroit by Jim Diamond, Left Lane Cruiser is joined by none other than James Leg (aka John Wesley Myers) of the Black Diamond Heavies playing keyboard on nearly half of the album, with his distinctive style undoubtedly bringing a new color to the duo sound. Formed by Freddy J. Evans IV (guitar/vocals) and Brenn “Sausage Paw” Beck (drummer/percussion/vocals), and hailing from Fort Wayne IN, Left Lane Cruiser has been bringing its unique style of high octane punk blues to fans all over the world, slowly gaining recognition from the press : “Assimilates the Mississippi Delta blues laid down by guys like Big Joe Williams and Son House and cultivates it into a country punk ‘n’ blues speedball” (Popmatters), “Reminds me of live Cramps, RL Burnside, and even old Henry Rollins. If CBGBs was still open that would be the venue I could see Left Lane Cruiser playing” (Blogcritics), “Traffic in North Mississippi Hill Country-influenced, rough-edged, and, yes, kickass blues rock” (Blender), “Most say it’s a blues band, but they are also a hard rock band with a lot of Southern fried attitude. They are their own category. Call them Industrial Redneck, or Country Thrash.” (Atlanta Music Guide), “ The band blends styles that wouldn’t normally be compatible, but when the two musicians come together — Evans with his slide guitar and vocals that sound as if his diet consists of swallowing sandpaper and chewing gravel, and Beck with his collection of hubcaps, trash cans, ladders and whatever garage accessory you can drum a beat on — the result is hard, rusty blues that Beck guarantees will get you moving” (Kentucky Kernel)

The Kings of South American Garage Punk are back with their 3rd LP - Garaje or Muerte. A time machine back to 1965 Argentina not to be missed. Los Peyotes have totally revitalised garage-beat in South America. Taking their inspiration from their illustrious predecessors – Los Walkers, Los Shakers, Los Mockers, Los Gatos Salvajes and Los Saicos – these five Argentine/Peruvian boys play around with the fuzz of The Litter, the darkness of The Music Machine, the psychedelic sound of summer of The Seeds and the demented tempo changes of The Count Five. With fuzz and tremolo on the guitars, Farfisa organ, tambourines and demented screams they spit out a kind of music that is totally bonkers. The offspring of the seed of the Spanish conquistadors that brought mediaevel venereal diseases to the Americas, they are a savage sort that would have made any of the Nazi war criminals or a certain furious dictator that may have lived on their native soil raise their eyebrows in disbelief. To see them perform live you would think they were cavemen rather than 21st century gentlemen! Los Peyotes made their official debut in 2005 with “Cavernicola”, on which they recorded songs by some of the most important bands of Argentine and Uruguayan rock of the sixties. Twelve songs were captured in this album – and all the fury, the insistent rough-hewn sound and melodies that characterises them, were shaped in this work. International recognition came quickly, with them being booked to play Uruguay, Mexico and then Spain. Now music fans on the old continent of Europe are now becoming victims of Los Peyotes too; a mini-fever began erupting, which led to their first brilliant UK release, “El Humo Te Hace Mal”, on Dirty Water Records, the BEST garage-punk single ever. Their second UK single, “Bdaaa!!!” – you say it how it looks! – has cemented their reputation in Europe even further, with their debut European album “Introducing. . .” being a smash hit amongst fans of real rock’n’roll. This second album from Dirty Water (recorded by Jorge Explosion at Circo Perrotti in Gijon, Spain) coincides with a European tour that is already being highly anticipated. Peyotes fever is here! For Fans Of: The Beatles, The Stones, The Monkees, The Velvet Underground, Nuggets, Pocketbooks, The School, Still Flyin’. Revolver, Nevermind The Bollocks & Definitely Maybe - The Loves new LP ...Love You is shorter than all of these AND it's got a member of the Velvet Underground as the voice of Jesus on it! Formed in Cardiff in 2000, The Loves released their debut single on Radio One DJ Huw Stephens’ Boobytrap Singles Club in May 2001. Their second album on Technicolor was made Album Of The Week in The Sunday Times. The band recorded four Peel sessions and have recorded nearly as many again for Marc Riley on BBC 6music. This, The Love’s final LP before they call time on ten years at the top on Valentine’s Day 2011, was recorded at Soup Studios underneath East London’s Duke Of Uke shop, as were their last two albums Technicolour and Three. It was mixed and mastered by Rob Jones of The Voluntary Butler Scheme fame and is as shiny a pop record you will hear this year. Spector -ish lead single “December Boy” has a wall of backing vocals from Emma Hall of Pocketbooks and former Love (now head of The School) Liz Hunt. It was playlisted on BBC Radio 2 after winning Radcliffe & Maconie’s Track Of The Week. Elswehere Nathaniel Mayer’s 1966 soul single “I Want Love and Affection (Not The House Of Correction)” gets a Loves overhauling and made into a Merseybeat thing, while “O! My Gawd” features Mindy from the American group Still Flyin’ on vocals in what is The Loves version of hip-hop. The Stones-y ballad “I Lost My Doll To Rock’n’Roll” and the Led Zeppelin rock of “King Kong Blues” show a harder side to the band. Doug Yule from The Velvet Underground is the voice of Jesus’ answer-phone on “It’s…The End Of The World” to which producer Simon Trought contributes the Brian May harmony guitar solo at the end of the song. The LP closes with a cover of comedian Jake Yapp’s “The Very Stars Were Meant For Us”. This is The Loves’ final LP because…just because. 'A wide-eyed retro-chic indie-pop sextet that sound like The Monkees playing at being The Velvet Underground.' – NME. www.myspace.com/lovetheloves

Legendary Welsh rabble rousers Tigertailz are back with their first new album release for three years! December sees the launch of no-holds-barred live album „Bezerk Live – Burnin‟ Fuel‟ through TT Records. Get ready to hear the rejuvenated band going hell for leather as they mark the 20th anniversary of breakthrough album „Bezerk‟. The early part of 2010 saw the band revisit the crazy days of 1990, playing the entire album in sequence, plus one or two surprises for the faithful. The resulting live album, recorded in Cardiff, Newcastle and Stockholm, is a two-pronged return, something that will both cement Tigertailz‟ place in „glam metal‟ history, and act as a springboard for the band‟s future. It celebrates both the old – classics such as „Love Bomb Baby‟, „Heaven‟, „Noise Level Critical‟ and „Sick Sex‟ – along with the new, heavier twist that the more musically evolved band of today inevitably bring to the music. This 12-song live set also gets to the flaming heart of how Tigertailz originally envisaged the songs on „Bezerk‟ – before studios and record companies took their pound of flesh. That said; the birth of „Bezerk Live – Burnin‟ Fuel‟ wasn‟t always straightforward, as front man Kim Hooker explains: “We wanted to do something for the 20th anniversary of „Bezerk‟, but in our infinite ignorance we thought we could record a gig and just put it out. Our longtime friend and producer Tim Lewis reminded us that any live album must stand up to repeated listening – no one ever puts out such an album without spit and polish. So, we‟ve worked extra hard on getting this band‟s live sound to shine through.” Capturing their unique brand of intensity – the clash of melody and mayhem that defines any Tigertailz show – is a tall order. That‟s why Lewis and Tigertailz took their time to get things right, ensuring that the live vibe, the spark, and the rage for perfection shone through in every track. They wanted, as Kim says, to “bring you the best possible live headbanging experience.” “The album sounds fantastic,” he enthuses. “The songs leap out at you, just like we always wanted them to. You‟ll be amazed at how exciting these songs sound in 2010. We were inspired by albums like Kiss „Alive‟and Judas Priest‟s „Unleashed In The East‟. What we‟ve created is the nearest thing you can get to a Tigertailz concert in your front room!” Track listing: Sick Sex; Love Bomb Baby; I Can Fight Dirty Too; Noise Level Critical; Heaven Love Overload; Action City; Twist And Shake; Squeeze It Dry; Call Of The Wild; Crazy Horses Ace Of Spades

What do you want from the ideal debut album? That it excites you, intrigues you, sometimes confuses you? That it takes risks, is hard to place in terms of the records you already know, that it’s short and sharp and bursting with energy and ideas and even hooks? That it makes you laugh, or cry, or has your jaw occasionally scraping along the floor? That it sets out its stall with utter confidence and no reference to what’s going on around it? That it’s delivered with total conviction? That it fits into no pre-defined “trend” or “scene” and instead creates its own space by force of will? If even a few of those are what you’re looking for then “My Main Shitstain” by Paris Suit Yourself could just be your new favourite record. The three core members of Paris Suit Yourself are all originally from Bordeaux although singer Luvinsky Atche only met Marie Boye (bass and vox) and Victor Tricard (guitar, keys and vox) when they were all mingling with the uptight snobs of the capital city which gave them their name. But it was when the band relocated to Berlin (with Marie now back in Paris) and recruited Arkansas drum-lunatic, death metal nut and contemporary classical composer Joe Heffernan that the alchemy was made complete. They went into a broken down studio back in France and laid down “My Main Shitstain” – a forty five minute album over whom the guiding spirits of Keith Levene, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Fela Kuti and Ari Up hover, laughing, shouting and egging the band on. From Luvinsky’s incredible voice, which moves from angry or ecstatic screams to fragile crooning in both English and French, from Marie Boye’s rock-solid bass and deranged backing vox, through Victor Tricard’s all-out guitar riffology and effortless way with a Korg, to Joe Heffernan’s pedal-to-the-metal polyrhythmic drumming, this is a record you won’t forget in a hurry. It’s also packed with enough hooks for a Justin Timberlake record (but with none of the cynicism). So there you have it. Maybe the less we say, the better. Sit back, press play. And be careful with that jaw.

STREET DATE: 3/1/11
can’t control myself
Young Philadelphia songstress Gina Sicilia exploded onto the scene in 2007, as her debut CD, ALLOW ME TO CONFESS, was met with joyous acclaim by fans and critics alike. She was heralded as a distinctive new voice in the Blues, as well as an insightful songwriter and interpreter of neglected classics in the Rhythm & Blues canon. In 2008 she was nominated for “Best New Artist Debut” at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis, Tennessee, just as her sophomore release HEY SUGAR proved her also to be a legitimate contender in the worlds of Classic Country and Americana. With her new 2011 release, CAN’T CONTROL MYSELF, Gina broadens her stylistic palette, infusing even more Soul and Americana into her bedrock influences of Blues and R&B. This CD features seven new Gina Sicilia compositions, as well as three choice covers borrowed from Bobby Bland, Stevie Wonder, and Ike & Tina Turner. Gina’s singing and songwriting continue to break new ground, showing remarkable depth, power, and seemingly unstoppable growth. CAN’T CONTROL MYSELF was produced and engineered by Gina’s label mate, the insanely talented Dave Gross, who also played every instrumental track on the record except for trumpet, sax, and one lap-steel track. Now 25 years old, the genre-defying Gina Sicilia continues to smash pigeonholes into kindling and redefine the boundaries of soulful music. • 3rd CD from rising star, singer-songwriter Gina Sicilia • 7 new Gina Sicilia songs, 3 choice covers • Bedrock of Blues and R&B infused with Soul and Americana • Produced by the insanely talented Dave Gross

Subterranean Homesick Blues: A Tribute To Bob Dylan’s Bringing It All Back Home reimagine music presents
REIMAGINE MUSIC TO RELEASE 1000 LIMITED EDITION VINYL LP OF DYLAN TRIBUTE STREET DATE 01/11/11 Due to the success of digital only download of ‘Subterranean Homesick Blues: A Tribute To Bob Dylan’s ‘Bringing It All Back Home’ Reimagine Music and Redeye Distribution will be releasing numbered 1000 limited edition Vinyl LPs on January 11, 2011. On its original release, “Bringing It All Back Home,” was a delicious and challenging step into the unknown, a platter that carried Dylan from the cultish fringes to the popular mainstream. Released in March 1965, it hit #1 on the UK charts and was his first Top 10 album in the US. Dylan’s song writing clearly stepped up a gear with this album simultaneously presenting a caustic cocktail of spiky emotions and an outpouring of angst that in many ways, signaled the end of that Greenwich Village coffee house career. This tribute LP limited edition includes some of the most celebrated indie artists on the scene today including The Morning Benders, Mirah, Castanets, Asobi Seksu, Peter Moren (of Peter Bjorn & John), Helio Sequence and additional download card that includes bonus tracks by William Fitzsimmons, J. Tillman (of Fleet Foxes), Sea Wolf and others, as well as a digital booklet with liner notes by rock historian Simon Warner. PRAISE FOR SUBTERRANEAN HOMESICK BLUES: A TRIBUTE TO BOB DYLAN’S BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME “I really love Ane Brun’s rendition…a very quiet, yet psychedelic track…Mirah’s rendition of “Love Minus Zero” is another favorite, with a kind of backwoods mountain folk hymn, very delicate, very ethereal, very beautiful…Asobi Seksu, is another really nice, dreamy track…“Gates of Eden,” as performed by DM Stith is just incredible.” JerseyBeat. “nuanced treatments that add new dimensions to songs ingrained in fans’ memories.” Metro West Daily News “an exquisite journey, chock full of potent musicianship and transformative revisioning...” Cover Lay Down
