We are grateful to our 2022-2023 PROFESSIONAL SERIES SPONSORS
Welcome Welcome
It’s the brightest—and busiest—time of year at Red Mountain Theatre. Holiday Spectacular is our favorite annual tradition, but it’s only the beginning of the excitement for our Season. The gifts yet to open include the theatrical gems Dreamgirls and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, plus new works you will love: Shrek the Musical and Bright Star. (Can we just point out that theatre tickets make the perfect, onesize-fits-all present?)
However, it’s important for us to take a breath from the tinsel and tacky sweater competitions to reflect on everything we are grateful for this year. Holiday Spectacular marks a calendar year of shows in our beautiful Arts Campus, which is still expanding in exciting ways. Our Human Rights New Works Festival this fall brought the community together to share in the power of art with the hope for a better future. Most importantly, our Education Programs are literally transforming lives. You’ll see evidence of that on the stage tonight … and beyond. None of this would be possible without your support, so we are most grateful, truly, for YOU.
We wish you joy and peace this holiday, and look forward to celebrating with you in 2023!
Merry Christmas
Red Mountain Theatre’s passion for the arts has inspired our community for years. Thank you for creating a better and more beautiful world.
At Protective Life, we believe that serving our community is as important as protecting the lives of those who depend on us. That’s why we’re proud to support the Red Mountain Theatre.
You inspire the future we work to protect.
Happy Holidays from Red Mountain Theatre!

PROUD TO SUPPORT RMT IN TRANSFORMING LIVES THROUGH THEATRE
SUSAN & DOWD RITTERENSEMBLES
MEET PERFORMING ENSEMBLES PRESIDENT, CAMPBELL PATE
One of the missions of Red Mountain Theatre is to educate, train, and polish the performing arts skills of young artists. The RMT Performing Ensembles help us fulfill that mission, as this elite group of performers, ages 9-18, rehearse year-round. What they learn goes beyond the boundaries of the stage, preparing them for all avenues and challenges of life.
Campbell Pate has taken on leadership of the Performing Ensembles this year as its president.
How long have you been involved with the Performing Ensembles? This is my fifth year.
What have you learned while stepping into the role of PE President?
It’s been interesting because I feel like I’m mostly just implementing what I’ve already learned through Red Mountain Theatre about leadership, focus, time management, and looking out for your ensemble. I’ve also learned a lot about the importance of having a good leadership team. Getting to work with our amazing vice president, Stephani Zeigler, as well as our three dance captains (Aurkheem, Charlotte, and Olivia) has been a huge blessing.
What has been a personal highlight for you with PE?
Last year, we got to go to New York as an ensemble at the end of the year. We had workshops with some incredible artists and got to see some amazing live theatre. But, the best part was that we all just got to spend time being together. Red Mountain Theatre has been the foundation for some of my best friendships and it was really special to have a few days to just have fun and celebrate each other.
When was a moment that you struggled and how did you overcome it?
My first year as a Headliner, I struggled with
learning how to balance my responsibilities as a member of the Performing Ensembles and a student at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. I always want to give 110% in everything that I do, so it was (and is) difficult to have so much going on all the time. The key ended up being discipline, organization, and communication. I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to do both because I wouldn’t be the person that I am without those experiences.
What’s your favorite moment/number from this year’s Holiday Spectacular? The finale. No matter how stressful or crazy this time of year gets, the message of that number always grounds me.
Do you have a favorite memory from a past Holiday Spectacular? Performing my first rockette number in ninth grade. I was so worried and intimidated by it and I worked so hard to make sure I got it right. Radio City may not be in my future, but I definitely killed that number.
Is there anything else you’d like to say about RMT or the Performing Ensembles? I’m incredibly grateful to Red Mountain The atre for investing in young artists through this program. It’s brought me invaluable training, experiences, and lifelong connections that I never would’ve had access to without the generosity of donors.

RED MOUNTAIN THEATRE is a Tony Awardwinning nonprofit organization committed to enriching the cultural landscape of Birmingham and beyond through unique, high-quality professional theatre and performing arts education. Established in 1979 as Summerfest, RMT has grown to become the preeminent year-round professional musical theatre organization in Alabama.
