Once On This Island

You won’t want to miss a moment! Live theatre is back and the best is yet to come!

Welcome

We hope you’ll come along for our next journey with Once in April. Set in an Irish pub, you’ll discover another touching story and incredible music that will set your heart singing. Then the summer will bring us two blockbusters – Kinky Boots and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

Gratitude is often hard to find in times of stress and strain. And, boy, have we all been strained in the past two years. But as we envisioned, prepared, and now open this production of Once On This Island , we can think of no more fitting expression of our emotions. We are GRATEFUL! Grateful for this beautiful story, for talented artists who bring it to life, and for an audience eager to take it in. The joy and wonder that will take place in this marvelous space is a glorious payoff! Thank you for not only making it possible, but sharing the journey with us!

They have collaborated as a design team for over 30 years. While designing for the St. Louis MUNY, they met a cyclone of creative energy: Keith Cromwell. The rest of the tale is one of a beloved friendship and an enduring artistic relationship. The Gilliams’ design credits include 72 designs for the MUNY; four national tours of Fiddler on the Roof; multiple designs for touring shows, regional and international theatres, as well as theme parks. Both now retired from teaching at Trinity, Sam continues work as a performance artist

while Steve designs butterfly gardens in San Antonio with three dogs and feeds a colony of feral cats who come for breakfast and dinner.
