COLOURS OF CORNWALL
AMANDA HOSKIN
Red Rag Gallery in Bath presents ‘Colours of Cornwall’, the latest collection of oil paintings by contemporary impressionist Amanda Hoskin. As one of the UK’s leading artists specialising in this genre, Amanda has once again produced an exciting body of work to reflect her intimate knowledge of the Cornish countryside and coast. Walking the South West Coastal paths several times a year she records the landscape and colours that inspire her. Her use of oils lends a fluidity to each scene, fusing together several elements unique to her work. These include the delicate play between light and foliage, the subtle capture of the flora and fauna of a Cornish hedgerow, and the ability to distil the power, scale and palette of an ever-changing Cornish sea or sky. Amanda was born and brought up in Cornwall and was drawn back to live and work in the county in the early 1990s, following a successful career as a wildlife illustrator in London. She studied at both Falmouth and Chelsea Colleges of Art, and her work is held in private collections in the UK and abroad.
