John Lines and Heather Moseley Exhibition
John Lines
John Lines was born in 1938 in Rugby, Warwickshire. He studied art at Rugby Polytechnic from 1959 and then at York School of Art from 1961 to 1962. Lines has been exhibiting his contemporary paintings since leaving art school, although his time was initially shared between art activities and working in Industry.
John Lines’ paintings are distinctive and beautifully painted. His style is very much Modern British with his preference now being for painting oil on canvas. As an artist his stated aim is to ‘simply paint through honest eyes’. Ample evidence of this approach can be seen in his paintings of British Urban scenes and English Landscapes subjects.
His art captures humour, nostalgia, romance and the beauty of British Countryside and everyday British Urban Life. Lines is equally successful painting landscapes, marine, portrait and transportation – all of which will, in future years, be seen as fine, social records of urban life. Having been represented by Red Rag Gallery since 2003, John travels extensively to find the right British scenes for his paintings. He regularly features Derbyshire, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Northampton, Nottinghamshire, South Wales, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Yorkshire in his contemporary paintings.

Heather Moseley and John Lines Exhibition
Heather Moseley
Heather Moseley was born in Wombourne, a village in South Staffordshire, in 1966. She showed a keen interest in art from an early age and was popular with her school friends doing pastel portraits of popular celebrities.
She obtained a BA honours degree in Illustration from the University of Wolverhampton in 1990. She then worked for a London agency specialising in realistic figurative work for book covers and magazines throughout both the UK and abroad.
Unfortunately, a health setback meant Heather had to re-evaluate her career; this resulted in providing local gift shops with personalised children’s canvases and detailed wildlife paintings on slate.
Heather is the youngest niece of Austin Moseley who was a successful artist for many years. His work was notable for its depiction of Black Country scenes painted with palette knives. Following his death in 2013, Heather was asked if she would like to complete some of his work. This was a very moving experience and gave Heather much pleasure, as Austin always took a great interest in her career in art. Having completed this work, Heather decided to emulate this technique and style in developing her own work.
