Mark Preston Solo Exhibition

Mark Preston has successfully exhibited his work at Red Rag Gallery for many years and after an outstanding response to the last two exhibitions in 2015 and 2017 we are delighted to host his third solo exhibition. He has always drawn inspiration from the landscape around him and the varied subjects in this exhibition capture nature in all its colourful diversity and seasonal moods. Mark enjoys returning to familiar locations in Derbyshire, Cornwall and the Lake District, knowing that through observation he will come across something new, be it a light effect, weather conditions or simply the changing flora. Mark has been known to remain out of doors at his easel from dawn until dusk working directly from nature whatever the weather. It is this dedicated and sustained approach to painting in the open air that gives his work authenticity and has rewarded him with paintings that are both detailed and atmospheric. As Mark says “For me experiencing the landscape and weather directly is essential to attempt to capture them in paint; I just need to be there to respond to the situation and the spirit of the landscape. April 2019.
