Hospitals There are hospitals in all larger towns of the Lake Geneva Region. The CHUV (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois), which is located in the north of Lausanne, is the largest hospital in the Canton of Vaud.
By plane (Geneva International Airport) or train (TGV Paris – Lausanne or Cisalpino Milano – Montreux – Lausanne), the area is easily accessible. In addition, all destinations within the region itself are surprisingly close to each other: from the towns on the lakeshore you need less than an hour to reach the sunny resorts in the Alps or the Jura. This ideally located contemporary building has a surface area of 50,500 square metres, thirty-four conference rooms, as well as Switzerland’s largest theatre. The Swiss Tech Convention Center of the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) will open its doors in late 2013. The modular system is the main feature of this centre. It is intended for conferences, seminars and business conventions and equipped with ultramodern technology. Its auditorium with 3,000 seats can be transformed into a banquet hall in a few minutes by retracting the steps simply by pressing a button. As to the basement of the centre, it can take the shape of a giant hall or can be separated into 15 independent rooms.

Montreux Jazz Festival July Every year, Montreux transforms into the capital of jazz. Tens of thousands of spectators attend the concerts performed in the sumptuous Auditorium Stravinsky and the Miles Davis Hall. Prix de Lausanne January / February Every year, this international competition for young artists attracts hopefuls of classical ballet and contemporary dance from around the world. The selection tests and the finals are held at the Palais Beaulieu in the centre of Lausanne. They are open to the public.

The Swiss Tech Convention Center, Lausanne Opening in late 2013 The Swiss Tech Convention Center is located on the EPFL campus. It is the world’s first totally automated conference centre. Its infrastructure with ultramodern facilities is flexible and can be transformed into auditoriums with computerised controls. The amphitheatre can be converted into a banquet hall within minutes.
