Hochkönig Card Terms & Conditions For the issue and use of the Hochkönig Card, the following conditions are expressly stipulated. Definition e Hochkönig Card allows all people, who stay at one of the participating Hochkönig Card accommodations and who have completed the registration form, to claim the stipulated services of Hochkönig Card partner businesses. e services are indicated in detail and mentioned in the Hochkönig Card brochure. Scope of services/Disclaimer of liability All Hochkönig Card partner businesses mentioned in the available brochure are obliged to temporally and quantitatively provide the services as designated by the Hochkönig Card without restriction and in full scope in accordance with participating Card businesses’ own general terms of transportation and terms of business. Holders of the Hochkönig Card must take note that the operation hours of individual partners, mainly due to weather and seasonal circumstances, will not necessarily correspond with the entire timeframe of the card season. With several businesses, there may be longer waiting times due to capacity reasons, and many services may be used only upon advance registration. Holders of the Hochkönig Card must agree with the specified waiting times, possible entrance restrictions, and the capacity notices of the partner businesses. ey waive any kind of compensation for damages if the service providers, due to operational reasons and at no fault of the providers, cannot render, or can only partially render the offered services. e service providers are only liable in the event of gross and/or intentional negligence, not in the event of slight negligence. In addition, there is no liability for clothes or other objects of value that are brought along. e holders of the Hochkönig Card must furthermore take note that Hochkönig Tourismus GmbH is entitled to terminate agreements with individual card service providers due to pressing reasons even during the season. No resulting claims for liability have any legal standing. Non-transferability/Loss e Hochkönig Card is nontransferable! In the case that services of the Hochkönig Card are not used, there will be no compensation. Upon loss of the card, the Hochkönig Card accommodation business must be notified immediately. Aer a new card is issued, the lost card loses its validity effective immediately. Validity e Hochkönig Card is valid within the period starting on the day of arrival until and including the day of departure. Rates e Hochkönig Card is not available for public sale. Claim to the card is held only by guests who stay at one of the Hochkönig Card accommodation providers and are registered. Children Hochkönig Card: children are defined as all those aged 6 to 14 listed in the guest registration card. Use e holder must show their Hochkönig Card to receive card benefits. e card will be checked for validity by the service provider with a card reader or with just a visual inspection by noting the card number and the name of the holder. e card holder is obliged to show a valid photo ID if asked, otherwise, use may be denied.
Damage In the event of damage to or technical defects of the Hochkönig Card, the guest can refer to their Hochkönig Card accommodations provider. ey will exchange the damaged card. Misuse With incorrect use or suspicion of incorrect use, the Hochkönig Card service partners are entitled or obliged to withhold the card without replacing it. Upon misuse or justified suspicion of misuse, charges will be filed. e card holder is liable for incorrect use of the card by a third party. Upon loss or the of the card, he is obliged to promptly report this incident to the Hochkönig Card accommodation business. ere is no entitlement to replacement of the card or lowering of the purchase price. Legal disclaimer of Hochkönig Tourismus GmbH e holder of the Hochkönig Card must note that Hochkönig Tourismus GmbH is responsible only for transactions between the service providers and Hochkönig Card accommodation businesses. e holders of the Hochkönig Card with respect to Hochkönig Tourismus GmbH waive any imaginable warranty claim or claim for damages independent of whether or not the service provider or Hochkönig Card accommodations provider is guilty of any damages. It is stipulated that – in the instance of damages –Hochkönig Tourismus GmbH is not liable for such a claim, especially if neither the service provider nor the Hochkönig Card accommodation provider are adjuncts of Hochkönig Tourismus GmbH. Likewise, with respect to Hochkönig Tourismus GmbH, no compensation for damages is due to the holder of the Hochkönig Card for cases in which services mentioned in the brochure by the partner businesses are not fulfilled. Place of jurisdiction For all disputes concerning the Hochkönig Card or possible claims for damages or warranty claims, the exclusive jurisdiction of the court responsible for Maria Alm as well as the exclusive application of Austrian laws is stipulated. 340 KM OF HIKING FREEDOM When hiking in the Hochkรถnig region, each step leads you deeper into nature. Fresh mountain air, towering rocks, idyllic hill farms, lush meadows, and legendary views of the alpine world - this is a balm for the soul. The network of hiking paths is well signposted and designated with the Austrian Hiking Seal of Quality. The hiking highlight is the 73 km long-distance hiking trail through the region - the "Kรถnigsweg". Free guided hikes are offered in all towns in the region.

How to behave in the mountains 1. Before every tour, check that every participant - including children possesses the necessary mountain experience and physical ability. Mountain hikes often demand surefootedness and a head for heights. 2. Plan your trip precisely using tour descriptions and maps. Information direct from alpine associations and local experts, such as your hut hosts, can be a major help.
4. Before setting out, tell your host, hotelier or friends your route, destination, as well as the time you expect to return. 5. Adjust the speed of the group to that of its slowest member. Especially at the start of the tour, be observant for members who are walking too slowly. Continue to observe fellow hikers to catch early signs of exhaustion. 6. Don’t leave marked trails. Use great caution crossing steep grassy mountainsides, especially in wet conditions. Traversing steep fields of snow or glaciers is especially dangerous. 7. Don’t kick stones off the mountainside (danger of injuring other hikers); cross areas with a high rockslide danger one by one, quickly and without stopping.. 8. If the weather turns, fog moves in, the trail becomes too difficult or is in bad condition, turn back. There’s no shame in this. In fact, it shows everyone you are using your brain. 9. If an accident does happen, remain calm. If you are unable to help yourself, try to summon help using your mobile phone, by shouting, signaling with a light, or waving larger pieces of clothing. In general, leave an injured hiker at the accident site, but never alone. 10. Pack out trash in order to protect native animals and plants. 11. Behavior around animals grazing on the high pastures: don’t do anything to tease or upset animals such as cows, calves, sheep, horses etc. Instead, behave “absolutely normally” and don’t show any fear. Don’t leave the paths that cross pastures, and always keep as much distance as possible between you and the animals. 12. Dogs must be kept on a lead. Never let the dog loose to chase after animals. Mother cows, especially, will be very protective of their calves. If, however, a grazing animal happens to attack your dog, allow the dog to run loose for its own protection.
