STEP INTO SPRING You’ll find an outfit to suit any occasion at Tiffany.
W
hile many will trek from shop to shop trying to piece together the perfect outfit – whether it’s something casual or for a special occasion – the savvier of us will go to Tiffany because they have everything under one roof. Tiffany is a family-run independent women’s fashion retailer in the centre of Doncaster, with three generations of the family having been involved in the fashion industry. With over 50 different brands, their ground floor is dedicated to casuals, outer wear, scarves, jewellery and casual footwear and bags. Here you’ll find the key looks and must-have pieces for the season. On the first floor, you’ll find stunning occasion and eveningwear – perfect for weddings, racing, parties and balls – and there’s even a room dedicated to occasion shoes, bags, hats and fascinators. Although the fashion store is in its fourth decade, it is constantly expanding and evolving and regularly holds in-store fashion events and catwalk shows. Every season, owner and buyer Sarah Cookson sources exciting new international collections. “We may not be in London but our customers are always after something a
12
bit different,” Sarah says. “I think it’s important to add something fresh to the mix of fashion we have here at Tiffany, each and every season.” Alongside well-known brands Oui, Betty Barclay, Joseph Ribkoff, Riani, Sandwich, Marc Aurel and Elisa Cavaletti, Tiffany stocks Marc Cain Collections and Marc Cain Sport exclusively to the area (which are Sarah’s personal favourites). New brands for spring 2016 include Luisa Cerano (a premium brand from Germany known for its feminine styling, gorgeous fabrics and classic cuts), Just White (an innovative and fresh shirt collection in eye-catching colours and prints) and Betty & Co. (a new diffusion collection from Betty Barclay with a relaxed and understated feel). And it's not just the impressive choice that attracts customers.
The team at Tiffany take great pride in their customer service and aim to make shopping a very friendly, enjoyable experience. Their personal shopping service allows you to book an appointment and let one of the experts do the work for you while you enjoy a glass of bubbly – perfect for those that are unsure about finding the ideal outfit for that special occasion. Staff at Tiffany really go the extra mile for customers by listening to their needs and offering as little or as much help as they need. Sarah says: “We strive to provide a very personal service and are always happy to give advice or help in any way we can. We strike up close relationships with customers who return to us season after season, who trust us to come up with the perfect outfit whatever the occasion.” As always, Tiffany are ahead of the game and already have their new spring collections in store. Sarah says: “It’s never too early to start looking. A lot of people are buying now for summer weddings and, with customers jetting off to warmer climates, spring casuals are already flying out!” Tiffany 10 Cleveland Street, Doncaster, DN1 3EF Tel: 01302 340662 store@tiffanyfashion.co.uk

Perfect wedding days From dresses to venues, take inspiration from these local businesses and plan your wedding with ease. By Stephanie Burns.
The Crown Hotel This luxury four-star hotel in the historical market town of Bawtry can cater for up to 120 day guests and 200 evening guests. Civil ceremonies take place in the Hogarth Suite or Leger Suite. Bespoke wedding packages can be created for each individual couple to suit their needs and requirements. The extensive range of dishes for the wedding breakfast – from traditional to modern – ensures there is something to suit every taste. To help you party the night away is inhouse DJ Paul Ruckledge, who has worked alongside the hotel for many years. The Crown also supports Vibe music, a fantastic jazz band who can even play during the meal. Electronic violinist Alexandra Parker is also great way to entertain your guests while they sip on champagne in the private lounge area during arrival drinks. The private landscaped garden at the hotel is full of greenery and flowers and comes to life in the evening with fairy lights wrapped around trees and lining the walls. The amazing events team are available around the clock, seven days a week, and will go through every stage of the bride-to-be process. The manor house, set in five acres, was built in 1851 for local gentry and many original features – including ornate covings, chandeliers and the grand staircase – still remain. Today, the hotel boasts free onsite parking for 90 cars and 63 spacious bedrooms with traditional comforts and modern facilities, including a luxurious suite with its own moodlit bath. Weddings are welcomed from two to 160 guests and there are several differentsized rooms for civil ceremonies and receptions. The elegant Shelley ballroom seats up to 160 guests and has its own private bar, ornate ceilings and patio doors on to the beautifully landscaped gardens. For more intimate events, the Grove Suite on the first floor is ideal and overlooks the garden. Garden ceremonies can also be enjoyed under the brand new ornate garden pagoda. The newly built Orangery restaurant is an ultra-modern location for breakfast. The wedding menus offer a mix of modern and traditional dishes and the chefs are open to any ideas that the bride and groom may have. Come night time, you can dance to the resident DJ or organise your own band or disco. This AA four-star hotel is steeped in history and has been restored with contemporary style. Centre of attention Weddings at Ye Olde Bell Hotel are all about you. Words: Fiona Barber
I
f your partner popped the question this Christmas, New Year or Valentine’s, next to consider is where you will tie the knot. No matter what time of year you say ‘I Do’,Ye Olde Bell is a unique venue that evolves to match the season. Enjoy a magical candlelit ceremony in The Oak Pavilion in the gardens in spring and summer or, in the cooler months, roaring log fires and grand opulence in a range of suites from two to 250 guests. New this year for drinks receptions is another stunning terrace from the Nielsen suite, which leads through to the gardens for creative photographs. The Oak Pavilion and all the suites are fully licensed, so you can have both your ceremony and reception in one stunning venue. Whether you arrive by horse and carriage, limousine or helicopter, the red carpet will be out just for you. Of course, a stylish wedding begins long before the guests arrive, and the experienced team at Ye Olde Bell are there every step of the way to help you plan. You can choose from a range of drinks and menu packages or create your own. Arrive to Pimms, Prosecco or a more contemporary style with mojitos and bottled beers plus creative canapes. You could even start the party in style with your favourite shot on each place setting.
www.regionalmagazine.co.uk
Children are made to feel special too, and Ye Olde Bell has certainly entertained them in style with everything from a helter skelter to colouring books. Their handcrafted traditional swing and an adventure climbing frame also help them burn off some energy. Relax into party mode later with additional guests to dine, drink and dance the night away. Ye Olde Bell offers everything from buffets to alfresco dining with sizzling barbecues and an outdoor pizza oven. Then it’s time to retreat to one of four stunning bridal suites. Your wedding, your way Let Rossington Hall help to make your big day absolutely perfect.
I
t is the most important decision of you life, so why would you let someone else tell you what to do on your wedding day? That’s why Rossington Hall doesn’t do wedding packages, but tailors every aspect of your day to suit you. Built in 1882 and set in lush green surroundings, this gorgeous Victorian grade II building has had many purposes over the years. Starting life as a family home, it became a college for missionary priests in 1939 and a boarding school in 1953, before being sold to local couple Gary and Michelle Gee in 2011. They opened it to the public in 2012. You can exclusively hire the whole building and live as the lord and lady of the manor, or simply hire a couple of rooms for your ceremony and/or reception. You and your family can stay in nine luxurious bedrooms, including a bridal suite. There is also a ballroom, a ceremony room and a special room which is available for brides and bridesmaids to get ready for the ceremony on the wedding day itself. Rossington Hall caters for any style or size of wedding, from an intimate wedding for five guests, to a ceremony and sit-down meal for 140. And if you’d like a bigger reception party, the venue as a whole can hold up to 500 guests. The wedding team offers an extensive and mouth-watering range of food options, so you can build your own menu. You can even request dishes of your own. Furthermore, you can take advantage of the hall’s 250 acres of land with an outdoor marquee and the entertainment of your choice. “Rossington Hall really is a hidden gem. It is an independent hotel with a homely feel and we are keen to protect its unique identity,” says Lucy Batchelor, Business Development www.regionalmagazine.co.uk
Manager at the hall. “Our ethos is to help you create the elegant, bespoke wedding you dream of.” Rossington Hall has regular wedding opening nights on Wednesdays from 5pm until 7pm, at which you can have a look around and visualise your big day. If you’d like to get a feel for the romantic atmosphere at Rossington Hall, book your Valentine’s Day dinner on Saturday 13 February. Dine in one of the spectacular dining rooms and taste the special five course menu for £59.95 each, whilst enjoying music from a live pianist or harpist, before relaxing with a coffee in the drawing room. And if you happen to love of golf, you will also be pleased to hear that Rossington Hall has plans to develop a PGA European Tour Destination within its grounds. If planning
permission is granted work is expected to start this year and will be up and running in time for the first main tournament in 2020. The development will include a quality 18hole golf course, a nine-hole club course, a club house, leisure facilities and 500 aspirational homes dotted around its near-500 acre site. Combined with the hotel grounds, restaurant and nearby Northern Racing College, it won’t be long before Rossington Hall is restored to its former glory as a fully working estate. ach year, Pantone announces their official colour of the year, which jewellers, clothes designers and interior designers all set their watch to. For 2016, they’ve selected not one, but two colours – Rose Quartz and Serenity. With February being the month of love, shades of pink are especially fitting for this time of year, whilst Serenity is a cool blue, which perfectly balances out the warmth of Rose Quartz. Together, they create a sense of

Last chance to buy at The Gables in Doncaster
Life by the lake proves popular with Doncaster buyers at The Residence, Doncaster With 21 properties now sold at Muse Development’s sought-after Lakeside scheme – The Residence, in Doncaster – the developer is now gearing up for the launch of a new show home, which will offer buyers the opportunity to purchase a stunning new three or four-bedroom home right on the water’s edge. The combination of modern homes, high specification interiors and a fantastic location has stuck a chord with local buyers, first-time buyers, down-sizers and families. In February, Muse will unveil a new show home for The Harvard – a beautiful three storey town house complete with waterside terrace and spectacular views of the lake beyond. Hollie Reynolds, residential sales and marketing manager at Muse says: “These stylish properties feature a spacious lounge complete with balcony over-looking the lake, a generous kitchen/diner and three-double bedrooms. We’ve taken into consideration the needs of modern buyers, and each home includes a fourth bedroom, which can also be used as a study, a separate utility room or private parking. We’re expecting demand to be high for The Harvard, so I’d urge buyers to register with us now and they’ll be one of the first to receive an invite to our show home launch at the end of February.” The Residence Lakeside also benefits from a range of restaurants, a cinema and shops within walking distance, as well as Lakeside Village and Doncaster Dome a short walk or drive away. The Harvard is available from £279,950. Register your interest now by emailing sales@theresidencelakeside.co.uk or calling 01302 898571. There are also a range of three-bed homes from £184,500, and four beds from £229,950. Two-bed homes will also be available in a later release. The Residence sales office is open seven days a week from 10am-5pm. www.theresidencelakeside.co.uk
Interested buyers need to act fast to snap up one of the final six homes at Muse Development’s town centre development, The Gables, in Doncaster. The scheme is a small but perfectly formed new neighbourhood of just 54 homes and has proved extremely popular with first-time buyers and down-sizers looking for a low maintenance home in a central location. There are six two-bedroom homes remaining, all priced at just £129,950, with four contemporary layouts to choose from. Every home comes with private parking and is available to buy with the government-backed Help to Buy scheme, which allows purchasers to buy with as little as five per cent deposit. The homes also benefit from many eco-elements which can help lower the cost of energy bills. Hollie Reynolds, residential sales and marketing manager at Muse says: “We urge buyers to act fast to snap up one of our last homes, which are ready to move into now. Our residents can make the most of living within a short walk of the shops, restaurants and bars in the city centre, not to mention the superb commuter links. Doncaster station, which is within walking distance of The Gables is a big draw for buyers as it offers a high speed service to London. “These great locations, combined with the affordability of these homes, have proved a recipe for success and we look forward to welcoming the final few buyers.” Interested buyers can contact the sales team to book a tour of the show homes and to find out more about Help to Buy, available for both first-time buyers and those looking to move up the property ladder. Email sales@thegablesdoncaster.co.uk or call 01302 378989.

ES Valentine’s
The food of love Impress your loved one this Valentine’s Day with this delicious homecooked dinner inspired by the Magpie Café, Whitby.
W
illiam Shakespeare suggested that music was the food of love but be honest… when Valentine’s Day rolls around would you rather your beloved read you a sonnet, sang you a soppy ballad, or cooked you a
delicious meal? It’s the romantic in the kitchen that sets our hearts a-flutter every time. Something rich but not too heavy and packed with flavour will fit the bill nicely and these two courses, courtesy of The Magpie Café in Whitby, fit the bill perfectly.

Serves four as a starter Ingredients 12 king scallops 100ml white wine 50ml fish stock 250ml double cream 125g butter 1kg peeled potatoes (a floury potato suitable for mashing such as Maris Piper or King Edward) Salt and pepper Parsley to garnish Method Peel and chop the potatoes, place into a pan of salted water and bring to the boil. Cook until tender, strain and mash with the 25g butter and 50ml double cream and season to taste. Put in a piping bag and allow to cool slightly, enough to handle. Pipe the potato around the edge of a large dish (approx 9in x 9in) or four individual dishes (approx 5in x 5in) and place under a preheated grill to brown. While the potato is under the grill put the wine and fish stock into a pan and add the scallops. Cover with a lid and poach for a couple of minutes. Remove the scallops from the pan and keep warm. Bring the wine liquor to the boil and add the cream. Reduce a little and whisk in the remaining butter, remove from the heat. Take the dishes from under the grill and place the in scallops (three per portion if using the smaller dishes) pour over the sauce, garnish with a sprig of parsley and serve.

CHAMPAGNE RHUBARB & GINGER ETON MESS Serves four Ingredients For the meringue: 50g egg white 100g caster sugar Half teaspoon of ground ginger For the rhubarb: 500g trimmed first season rhubarb 100g caster sugar Vanilla extract 300ml double cream 30g caster sugar 1 vanilla pod
Recipes are taken from The Second Magpie Café Cookbook published by RMC Books. (www.rmcbooks.co.uk)
www.regionalmagazine.co.uk
Method To make the meringues: For best results pour boiling water over the bowl and the whisk (making sure you dry thoroughly before use) to get rid of any traces of grease which would prevent the egg whites from whipping. Whisk the egg whites until they form soft peaks and add 50g of the sugar. Whisk again until the meringue turns very glossy and will form firm peaks. Gently fold in the rest of the sugar together with the ginger. Put golf ball-sized spoonfuls of meringue onto a lined baking sheet and place in a preheated oven (120ºC or gas mark 1). Leave for a couple of hours or until the meringues have dried out. For the rhubarb: Thinly slice the rhubarb and place into a fairly deep baking tray. Sprinkle with the 100g sugar and a few drops of vanilla extract. Bake in a moderate oven until the rhubarb is soft and juicy. Leave to chill. To serve: Whip the cream with the sugar, split the vanilla pod, scrape out the seeds and add to the cream. Whip to a soft peak. Roughly crush the meringues and gently fold into the cream. Layer the rhubarb with the cream/meringue mix in large wine glasses and serve immediately. Note: The term ‘champagne’ rhubarb is used only for the very first pick of rhubarb when it is young, tender and has a lovely fresh pink colouring. Nothing to do with the bubbly stuff, although there is nothing to stop you serving a glass with this dessert because they complement each other. So here’s a good excuse to open a bottle.

Beauty lift with PDO Threads Why have surgery at £10’s of thousands when PDO Threads cost around £500. Safe, no down time, very little bruising, takes around 1 hour and virtually pain free. PDO (polydioxanone) is a material known and used in medicine for many years. Based on clinical observations, it was found that PDO stimulates the production of new collagen and produces the protein responsible for skin firmness and elasticity. The PDO technology is based on using the natural skin tension lines, which also causes an effect similar to a surgical facelift and gets the aesthetic effects close to botulinum toxin but more natural. PDO can be used on the face and body.
The procedure usually takes 30 – 60 minutes and is practically painless. The effects of the treatment can be seen immediately, but the formation of new elastin starts after 10-14 days and then it really starts to show relevant effects of the treatment.
What it does: • Skin rejuvenation • Smoothing wrinkles • Narrowing the pores • Skin Lightening • Increase the volume • Lifting the skin Due to the low invasiveness of the procedure, there are no complications, immediate effects, no discomfort.

Can gastric bands help bring about successful weight loss? Liz from Elizabeth Ann Therapies investigates.
I
n the recent programme How To Lose Weight Well on Channel 4, Dr Xand van Tullekan and dietician Hala El-Shafie examined many different diets and weight loss programmes, including gastric band hypnotherapy. After seeing David lose two stones in six weeks using this method, saying he felt superb, Dr X concluded that there may be a lack of scientific evidence but the effectiveness Gastric of this procedure spoke volumes. Dr X also band said that David looked fantastic. Dietician Hala El-Shafie, who focuses on the psychology behind eating, says. “If what you are doing and eating is working and you are eating healthier, brilliant…more power to you.” Now look at the questions below: if you answer yes to many of them and want to lose more than a stone, it may be time to think about weight loss or gastric band hypnotherapy. l Do you comfort eat when you are unhappy, bored or stressed? l Are you fed up of trying different diets and depriving yourself? l Do you eat when you're not hungry? l Have you thought about having gastric band surgery, or a gastric bypass? l Do you find yourself thinking about food all the time? l Do you yo-yo diet and find yourself ending up weighing more than when you started?
Q&A: Send your wellbeing questions to Liz @ Elizabethann61@live.co.uk One will be chosen and published monthly. Clinic @ The Vanilla Rooms Bawtry www.ElizabethAnnBawtry.com Dear Liz I have tried just about every diet there is but always end up putting weight back on. I go to the gym, run on the treadmill, then refuel on pizza thinking I've earned it. I don't seem to be able to stick to a healthy eating regime, no matter how hard I try. Is there a therapy, like hypnosis, that could help me? Diane, Retford Dear Diane Yes, I think gastric band hypnotherapy could be a good option for you. The band is designed to create a different relationship with food, so you eat smaller portions and enjoy a generally healthier diet. It would be important to incorporate some behaviour therapy into the pre-surgery sessions, in order to help understand what food really means to you, helping you think about when and why you eat. You must be aware that neither the traditional surgically-fitted gastric band or the hypnotic gastric band is a quick fix or miracle cure: with both procedures, a number of life changes are required.

A
t this time of year, many of us are assessing our goals for the months ahead and considering whether we are completely content with our appearance. With summer holidays just a matter of months away and wedding season already on the horizon, we take the opportunity while it’s still chilly to iron out any imperfections before shedding our winter cover-ups. For some, this will mean finally taking the leap and booking a consultation for breast cosmetic surgery. Whether you’re unhappy with the shape, the size or the general appearance, the modern procedures available are better than ever. Trust, quality and service are no doubt top of the list for those researching the right clinic for them. The first class service and excellent results at Natural Look Clinic have been impressing clients from all over the region – and beyond – since it opened on Thorne Road two-and-a-half years ago. They are proud to offer the latest techniques for breast cosmetic surgery, liposuction, dentistry, facial injectables and much more. Specialising in enhancing your natural beauty and helping you to maintain optimum health, the clinic’s trusted and highly qualified medical professionals are among the region’s finest. Consultant surgeon Mr Kazzazi and his team take time to listen to your exact

requirements to ensure they deliver the very best – and most natural-looking – results with high quality implants. They will advise on the best size and shape, take 3D chest measurements, assess the condition of your breast tissue and analyse your skin texture. Breast implants come in various shapes and sizes, including both higher and lower profile, so you can choose whether a thicker and narrower shape or a thinner and wider shape is right for you. They offer either a round or tear-drop shape and Mr Kazzazi can insert the implant either under the muscle in your chest or between the muscle and your breast tissue. In addition to implants, there are many other options for breast cosmetic surgery at the clinic. This includes consultations for uplift and reduction, nipple correction, and surgery for non-cosmetic breast consultations. And it’s not only women looking for some of the region’s best breast services that contact the clinic, as male breast surgery – otherwise known as the treatment of ‘man
boobs’ – is also available. Using liposuction and the surgical removal of extra fat and breast tissue, it gives men the confidence to wear the clothes they want to wear without worrying about excess lumps and bumps. The CQC-approved clinic is supported by a team of NHS consultant anaesthetists and an excellent team of nursing and reception staff. Every positive comment from the clinic’s many happy clients includes a favourable mention of the staff and this excellent customer service is something on which they pride themselves. If you’re looking to improve an imperfection or highlight your best assets in the most beautiful – and natural – way, the Natural Look Clinic is an ideal choice. Payment plans and packages are also available for facial lines rejuvenation. The film featured key areas of the borough including the developing F.A.R.R.R.S (Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme),Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Robin Hood Airport, Doncaster Racecourse, and plans for the new railway college. To watch the film in full go to www.vimeo.com/146409546. Keyholes Visuals received recognition for their digital media production across the region and won Business Start Up of The Year 2015. This identified their revolutionary approach to digital media and incredible work with many businesses in the area - an amazing achievement for such a young company. They also won the Success Through Partnership Working 2015 award, which acknowledged their working relationship with local aerial photographer and videographer Simon Huntridge, who they have worked with since the business launched. The combination of dynamic ground footage with inspiring aerial footage creates the most captivating films and has been key to securing work with some prestigious names in the industrial sector. Their impressive portfolio ranges from television adverts for Doncaster Racecourse, international recruitment videos for Guardian Wealth Management, promotional films for the Northern Racing College, to industrial training videos for worldwide engineering company Amec Foster Wheeler. Keyhole Visuals strives to put the county on the map using creative digital technologies and investing time into upcoming developments across the area including capturing spectacular key events such as St Leger Festival. Alex Dowie, managing director at Keyhole Visuals said: “It’s incredible to think that in 2014 we created the first ever presentation film for the Business Awards, and we were only just beginning to establish ourselves,” he continued. “I did not expect us to be here a year later winning two awards. It’s overwhelming and we are very excited for the upcoming year.”

AIMING HIGH: Queen Ethelburga’s offers a world class education at its extensive facilities set on a 220-acre North Yorkshire estate.
Top class No expense is spared on top-class facilities at Queen Ethelburga’s.
Y
ou wouldn’t buy a car without going for a test drive or even consider putting an offer in for a house before having two viewings, so spending some time at a potential school for your child is absolutely crucial to get the feel that it is the right place. Open days are a great chance to see the school when all systems are go! It is a way to see all the departments and facilities and to talk to students and staff to find out exactly what life is like on campus. Queen Ethelburga’s is an independent, day and boarding school at Thorpe Underwood near York. It is set in a 220-acre estate and surrounded by simply beautiful North Yorkshire countryside its facilities really do have to be seen to be believed. The Sports Village is a huge complex complete with a 125 state-of-the-art station fitness suite, which puts most public gyms to shame. There are dance studios, a boxing gym, martial arts room, cycle studio, indoor courts, a table tennis arena and an aqua centre which has infinity trainers, a pool, spectator areas,
sauna, steam room and Jacuzzis. Sport of a different kind is available at Muggles, the students’ recreational centre and café. Whether it is challenging a friend to the assault course or the climbing wall or racing them round the bike track, go-karting track or inline skate course – there is never a dull moment there. If the North Yorkshire weather puts paid to outdoor activities, there is an extensive gaming area, DVD library, karaoke, dj and instrument area and a 3D cinema for the latest releases. No expense has been spared in providing pupils with a similar calibre of facilities in the classroom. A science complex provides the perfect area to pursue the subjects, Home Economics has its own cookery school, the Business Department is impressive with designated work areas and board rooms and there’s an extensive art and fashion department with a complete photographic studio and pottery kilns. With both QE College and The Faculty of Queen Ethelburga’s named as the top two schools in the North of England, and both in the country’s top twenty, according to the
Daily Telegraph’s Independent Schools’ League Table from A*/A A-Level and equivalent results in 2015, you can’t ignore the fact that QE now offers a world class education. The majority of Year 13 leavers go on to some of the world’s most prestigious universities, including Oxford and Cambridge and those belonging to the Russell and former 1994 group. The ethos of assessing every student individually and finding out what he or she enjoys or is good at, gives pupils the basis and confidence to pursue subjects at which they are successful. The Queen Ethelburga’s motto is “to be the best that I can with the gifts that I have” – with the next Open Day on Saturday March 12th – perhaps that’s a date for the diary to find out exactly how they achieve that.
