QUALIFYING TIMES
* In order to qualify under the 6 dive standard, the diver must meet the qualifying standard two times during the season.
** In order to qualify under the 11 dive standard, the diver must meet the qualifying standard only once during the season
See page 42 for more information about All-American awards.
** Each year, the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) publishes individual event and relay qualifying times for both “automatic” and “consideration” designations. The “automatic” standard is the 80th place time averaged over the past three years. The “consideration” standard is the top 150th place time averaged over the past three years. When a swimmer achieves the automatic qualifying time in a regularly scheduled interscholastic meet (up to and including State meet performances), she is an “Automatic All-American”. At the end of the qualifying year, only the top 100 swimmers from the combined automatic and consideration lists are designated as “All-American”. Those achieving the consideration time but not finishing in the top 100 receive the designation “All-American Consideration”. A swimmer may be listed in as many events as his times qualify. Relay teams are limited to 4 swimmers only and only 1 relay team per event per school may qualify Times achieved at high altitudes are adjusted downward by NISCA to insure equitable comparison with those times achieved at sea-level.

We can't believe how quickly time has flown by. It seems like yesterday your swim backpack was twice your size and your only worry was how not to swim fly in the next meet. But here we are senior swim season - we hope you enjoy every second with your teammates and coaches! Cheer a little louder, laugh a little deeper, hug a little longer, swim a little harder. Make the last one the best one! These are memories that you will remember forever.
We are so proud of the woman that you are becoming and can't wait see where your next adventure takes you.

Favorite RJ Swim & Dive Team memory: Freshman year after state, seven of us rode in Manna Nelson’s giant blue van to meet the team at Freddy’s — there weren’t enough seats, so some sat on the floor. While jamming to music, we noticed Coach Nick behind us, which triggered a chaotic series of events, including ducking under windows, drawing smiley faces and “Hi Nick!” on the condensation, and laughing until it hurt. At the next light, he pulled up beside us, honked, and jiggled his car, which sent us further into hysteria

WHAT IS AN ALL-AMERICAN SWIMMER?
Each year, the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) publishes individual event and relay qualifying times for both “automatic” and “consideration” designations. At the end of the qualifying year, only the top 100 swimmers from the combined automatic and consideration lists are designated as “AllAmerican”. Those achieving the consideration time but not finishing in the top 100 receive the designation “All-American Consideration”. A swimmer may be listed in as many events as her times qualify. Relay teams are limited to 4 swimmers only and only 1 relay team per event per school may qualify. Times achieved at high altitudes are adjusted downward by NISCA to insure equitable comparison with those times achieved at sea level

EIGHT PRINCIPLES OF THE REGIS JESUIT GIRLS SWIM & DIVE PROGRAM
TRUST
Confidence and self-assurance are two positive outgrowths of trust .
RESPECT
Hold in high esteem your teammates, the training process, and your personal values
DISCIPLINE
Focus on the task at hand, not the outcome . Success in any endeavor is the result of a long and worthwhile process
LOYALTY
Be loyal to your inner drive with an allegiance and unwavering devotion to your teammates and coachs; develop a sense of purpose with focused attention on the present ... and above all else ...
'BE TRUE TO YOURSELF'.
FRIENDSHIP
It is not uncommon for your teammates to become your best friends; their constant support provides you with a higher level of communication, commitment and trust.
COMMUNICATION
Share your thoughts, aspirations and goals. Be honest in all of your relationships as you acquire the ability to 'SAY WHAT YOU MEAN AND MEAN WHAT YOU SAY'.
HONESTY
Individuals who demonstrate conviction with inner strength always gain confidence of their teammates . An honest commitment to the team demonstrates how much you care, and will clearly define your inner self.
COURAGE
Successful athletes exude confidence. Their 'psychological hardness' is never gained through half hearted efforts or self deprecating thoughts. Courageous athletes take charge of their lives and become responsible for their actions ... and when their motivations come from the heart, their athletic performances go beyond the ordinary!
