TYRAINA Article and Photography by: Sammie Audion “Autumn is the season to find contentment at home by perhaps a glamorous, impressive person stepping into paying attention to what we already have.” — Unknown our lives promising riches and fame – or, at least, being able to stand in presence of wealth and glory. So in this sense, fall can be seen as a time of death and rebirth by letting the shiny leaves go and focusing again on the roots and stems of our life-tree. Pagans, for instance, celebrate Samhain in fall as a time of renewal. Considered a liminal or transitional time, the veil between life and death grows thin.

once the first intense impressions have calmed down. Leaving the little park of the landing zone, creeks can be found that give the landscape a dreamy, idyllic look. This sim creates many picturesque photo opportunities that can be found in grand landscapes and cute or peculiar details and arrangements.

While places in Second Life (SL) do celebrate Pagan and Wicca traditions, more common are sims masterfully themed around the seasons. The moment you arrive at some places, you can almost smell the drying leaves and feel the cold breeze sneaking into your bones. At the same time, it feels somewhat soft and quiet (well, fall storms are rather rare in SL).

There is a private area, and a security orb will kindly inform you if you have found it should you accidentally cross in.. But the almost archipelago-like setting with little wood and stone bridges leading over the creeks at various locations leaves plenty of space to explore.

This was certainly this writer’s feeling when arriving at Tyraina, a homestead designed by Vince (VinceStriker) for region holder Dessi Tyraina (Dessi Tyran). The striking yet gentle beauty of the place hits the eyes right at the landing point. Little details might catch the visitor’s attention

The romantic, wild landscape offers opportunities to spend some quality time with a date or loved one. Swings, beds, decks, blankets – even little summer houses and rowing boats invite visitors to chill for a while and indulge in outdoor togetherness (whatever that is in SL, of course).

Intans can be found in the form of little wood tokens with a carving of a dancing couple. Why not tell someone that he or she has become or still is a very important part of your life in the beautiful settings of Tyraina? For the more adventurous visitors, some steep trails can be hiked leading up onto plateaus, and various caves can be explored. Exploring Tyraina with a good friend is for sure a fun idea. After all, nothing affirms a relationship more than shared adventures and laughs. It could rekindle the friendship if the person belongs to this earlier mentioned core or stem of our life. Any form of serious relationship requires some level of care and dedication. In order to grow strong, some ‘water’ and perhaps a little ‘pruning’ is required to maintain our understanding of beauty. In this spirit of autumn that brings us rebirth and renewal, pay attention to what you already have. Be nice yourself – and each other. BOSL PAVILLION Few SL venues match the glamor, thrill, and excitement of BOSL’s Miss Universe extravaganza. And if you think the pageant is something, you should see its new digs. Behold, the BOSL Innovation Pavilion. Outward appearances of the fortress of fashion conjure visions of Grecian temples. This one may not be reek, but it was almost as painstaking to construct. The pavilion derives from three simple concepts: sophistication, glamor, and functionality. But designing and building it? That’s another story: a tale best told by the builder, Christine Simunye. “Our decor niche has quite a range,” says Christine, discussing the white auditorium complex— pure white, from every facet and detail with accessories adding a pop of color. “From boho to minimalistic and everything in between, we make happen what the client asked for,” she adds. The client was The Best of Second Life (BOSL)— we’re pretty picky. “[BOSL’s owner] Reign Congrejowanted minimalistic and wanted the building to keep its crisp clean look,” Christine explains. “There will be events here, so it is important to keep it simple for functionality. But it is equally important to make sure you feel an elegance upon arriving. We showed her some ideas. She gave us input. Here we are today.” Indeed, we are.

Article By: CompE and Photography by: Jackson Redstar| Christine Simunye Reign explains her company’s newest creation: “The BOSL build was rebuilt to a more sleek and professional look. It encompasses the true essence of BOSL: style, elegance, simplistic in nature with its bold underlying tones. The Miss Virtual World 2020 pageant will be the first event in this venue; several meet-and-greets and other events are being planned for 2020.” She notes with much enthusiasm, “The new BOSL build is just amazing, and the decorating makes it a place where you can go and feel free to be yourself, dress up and just have a great time.” Arriving on-site, one can feel, almost hear, the excitement of Miss Virtual World contestants taking their places as the curtain rises. Even before walking the marble-like staircase front entrance, the “functionality through elegance” theme prevails. Facing the walkway, to the left is an arbor entrance with latticework draped in flowering vines, framing champagne for the asking. Created by designer and builder— and Christine’s fiancé— Oggy Farshore, it is perfect for photo-ops or outdoor venues. “Reign wanted to keep the design upscale yet — again — minimalistic,” Oggy says. “We also wanted the garden to be a place where visitors could mix and mingle, drink wine, and chat.” Walking through his outdoor creation, he continues, “I designed this piece by piece. It took a few modifications here and there to get it just right, but I am happy with the outcome.” Speaking of happy outcomes, now is the time to ascend the staircase, to which Christine emphasizes:

“In a build like this, entrance is everything. You want a clear path, but you want to feel good walking in. I wanted to achieve a nice focal for photos, yet keep it very crisp and clean.”

“I was excited we achieved that in this small space, and it

still appears open and spacious.” Spacious enough to have a cascading waterfall on the meeting room’s focal point wall. You heard me, a waterfall. Is that cool, or what?

At the top of the stairs in the main entrance is the BOSL logo set in pink flowers. To the left is a conference room, but gone are the days of cold steel, gray, and dismal office supply store furnishings. This session planning room makes one look forward to meetings.

Leaving the conference center, follow the hall to the main room, the auditorium/theater. Today it is quiet, empty and elegant. But oh, how that will change.

“BOSL wanted a room that seated 20 or more, and we did it,” explains Christine as we explore the space with walls adorned in recent BOSL Magazine posters.

“This place will be packed,” Christine predicts while exploring the site’s centerpiece space where the magic happens. Addressing crowd control she adds,

“It was important to have a clear walk space. The focal point is the models; having too much [clutter] will take away from that.” Behind the scenes in an area the public will rarely see is the models’ dressing room. Complete with makeup tables, wardrobe closets, even champagne and snacks. All essential for frantic participants preparing for the curtain call. “We needed a place for models to change,” the designer adds. “Again, it’s simple and elegant. It is also a great place for models to take snapshots of each other before the event.” And thus, the sneak preview ends.

All who contributed to this new build consider it a milestone in their work. Speaking for Oggy and herself, Christine proclaims, “I am so glad we were part of it.” The pride of craftsmanship speaks throughout the site.

Soon it will be showtime for the BOSL Innovation Pavilion. Sharing the stage with SL’s most glamorous models will be the building itself, as visitors admire performers, stage, and the facility that houses both. http://maps.s econdlife.com/s econdlife/B OSL%20 INNOVATION%20PAVILLION/186/162/2484

MY HOME Today, I am opening the doors to my own home. Think of this as my own version of BOSL Cribs! I was so excited to decorate my new house up for autumn, also keeping winter in mind. That is why I chose this build from Trompe Loeil. They say your house is your castle, but in this case, it literally is. The house is the “Isadora Rustic Cottage, which has an open-plan downstairs area with a fireplace and a bedroom upstairs. I decided that I wanted to create two different spaces in the downstairs area: a kitchen/dining space and a living room area. I also wanted it to feel comfortable and lived in, with a definite Arya vibe. The first area I worked on was the living room. This is my favourite relaxing area, which means there needs to be comfortable seating and plenty of areas to put cups. I have a small coffee addiction to contend with. I also needed fun knick-knacks and a coffee table for hoarding snacks. I wanted to ensure that I used a mix of old and new items from my inventory. I think we sometimes feel the need for all our decorating items and furniture to be brand new, but some amazing older items still look awesome. The kitchen area was next to deal with, and I love adding food to areas to make them look authentic. Incredibly realistic food items hit the shops around and especially in the autumn.

Article and Photography by: Arya Braveheart You will see cookies, hot chocolate, apples, and pies scattered around the house. They all start here in the kitchen, and I am showing off some lovely cooking appliances, cakes, and assorted jars to make this area look lived-in and utilized. As always, the last items to put out were the clutter and knick-knacks. This includes books, plants, photo frames, and rugs. I love all these things in SL because I don’t have to dust them or clean around them. Perfect! I hope you enjoyed seeing my home all decorated up. I am going to enjoy it while I can, because it is one month until winter hits and it all changes. So, make sure you enjoy all the winter colours before the land and trees become white and we are immersed in the throws of Christmas. Get out there. Go to events, search through stores, but don’t forget your inventory is a wonderful source of decorating and furniture items. Have fun!
