In Second Life, and often in RL, we follow a northern hemisphere seasonal calendar. This is mostly because of where the SL offices are, but also there are probably more people in SL from that half of the planet. Consequently, we have Easter in the northern hemisphere’s spring, Christmas in its winter, and Halloween in its autumn. However, for those of us in the southern hemisphere, Easter is in our autumn, Christmas is in the heat of summer, and Halloween lies in spring.
So, I decided to flip the Earth and gear this month to the onset of spring down here in the upside down. This is for all of you who are looking forward to the end of winter and counting down to warmer days and longer evenings. This is for all of you who live below the equator. I see you.

For this scene, I decided to create a little oasis of flowers, outdoor dining, and a home that brings the season inside. I was inspired by a wee build I found during my weekend sales exploration. The house is from InkMe and is called ‘La Casita.’ I love the way this home celebrates light and shade. It has huge windows that let the light stream in while still providing the warmth that is needed in early spring.
SEPTEMBER
I wanted to create two sitting spaces: one just for relaxing and enjoying the vista, and one for working but with a comfy spot to take five when needed. In between the two is a little indoor garden, and I used some of the items that came with the house but replaced some more summery items with fruit trees. That means I can sit on the couch and eat cherries and apples if I want. How awesome is that?
SEPTEMBER
I changed out the furniture in the office area that came with the house, adding more spring-themed items. I wanted to include some colour and create a relaxing space for blogging or working. It needed to be full of green, and I wanted plants to be the focus.

I also adapted the outdoor area from Kraftwork. The Ouray Gazebo and Pergola is actually a winter build, but I have adapted it for my spring look. I loved how it went with the house, but I did change over the Christmas-inspired art and rug and replaced them with things that better represent the green of the season. I still want the fires, though. The start of spring is not the warmest! It pays to have something to keep the chill away.
The last part of my spring scene was the garden. I had so much fun filling it with flowers, trees, and plants and fencing it off to create this spring oasis. It made me long for these days! I will be counting the days until September.
And remember, it is SL, so we can be in any season we want. You do you.

Learning what you missed on Orientation Island
Even if you have been a Second Life Resident for several years now, it’s quite possible that your very first days are still part of your fondest memories in this digital world. Remember the excitement of your early times in Second Life? The exhilaration of discovering you were able to fly! The thrill of meeting new and appealing people from all over the world! Oh yes, we were so excited we could hardly wait to leave Orientation Island and explore this fascinating world, full of mysteries just for us to discover.
We were eager to join a vampire family, to find a sexy master (or mistress, depending), or simply to go out and see for ourselves if everything that we had heard about Second Life was true.
And so, we rushed to hit the dance floor at the nearest club, to explore every conceivable sim, and to meet all kinds of people— while neglecting to pick up the most basic skills to survive and thrive in this peculiar 3D world. And now, years later, we find ourselves unable to build a plywood box or stitch together a simple loincloth, not to mention our inability to decipher the most basic scripting code even when our lives are at stake.
Time passed, and now you wish you had made better use of your early days. After all, that cool vampire family turned out to be devoted only to plucking out your hard-earned Lindens. And that sexy mistress you so loyally served for weeks, in real life, was a retired teamster from Ohio who ditched you for the next newbie who came her way.
Considering September usually is the time to go back to school— la rentrée in France, or der Schuhlanfang in Germany–, we would be well advised to take this opportunity to fill in the gaps our haste left in our knowledge and skills. Fortunately, Second Life
provides a lot of second chances to learn, relearn, and master any skill you might be lacking or flawed at in the form of educational groups that offer classes on almost anything. In case you’re having qualms over the integrity of your Linden balance, it’s worth noting that these classes are free, even if, in some cases, you’re encouraged to tip the teacher. And why wouldn’t you tip them? After all, the skills you learn may put you on the path to a successful and lucrative career as a builder, designer, or scripter.
So, you may want to visit the Builder’s Brewery and explore its offerings. I know: you’re wondering what a brewery has to do with building— or learning, for that matter. Believe me, that was also my first question; if I ever find the answer, I will come back to share it with you. Founded by Senn Maximus in 2008, the Brewery is one of the best-established

learning centers in SL and has been recognized as one of SL’s favorite groups. When you land in the sim, you’ll find there not only the classrooms but also the schedule for the classes and an invitation to join the group (which is also free). Even if you don’t have time for classes, this group is one of the best resources to have every kind of question answered by one of the more than 10,000 members it has. Besides, there is a shopping strip full of shops for textures, building materials, and everything the creative mind might need.
If you like a setting where new and veteran residents can hang out, take classes, and even party and have a great time together, you may consider visiting New Citizens Incorporated (NCI). This group is devoted to helping new players but is also very helpful to anybody who asks for guidance. Join the group, ask questions, attend classes, learn skills, make new friends, and have a great time all along!
the mysteries of building, then be sure to explore the Ivory Tower of Primitives, a fascinating exhibit of everything you can do with a simple plywood box.
Whether you want to learn something new, add an ability to your particular set of skills, or just walk down memory lane, one thing is sure: the more you learn, the more things you’ll be able to do, and the more you’ll have fun and enjoy your Second Life.
But if you lean more towards a serious and academic approach, you should consider visiting the site of Caledon Oxbridge University Group. Here, you’ll find a lovely and safe Victorian atmosphere and lots of people eager to help you learn everything you need to make your Second Life experience more enjoyable, from scripting to role-playing.
Now, if you tend to avoid settings that are too structured and want to learn at your own pace, on your own time, you have one option: visit the Particle Laboratory to learn all about particles and, in that process, scripting. Or, if you’d like to learn about

We all have become a resident of Second Life for one reason or another. For me personally, I never imagined how my life would be so enriched when I first joined. You see, when I saw a banner for SL on a website, I was intrigued. While I enjoyed the virtual environment that I was currently using at the time, the promise of 3D-like elements lured me into trying it. Well, after being in Second Life for over twenty years, I can’t fathom where I would be now without it. Being a severely physically disabled person in the real world, SL has allowed me to live a “normal” life. How is that possible, you ask? Well, Second Life allows people to do activities that might not be available to them otherwise. In today’s piece, I would like to highlight one such pastime, as I feel that it could be a game changer for reasons that I will discuss later on.
My suggestion would be to attend an event or two there before investing in a horse and everything that goes with it. I am pretty sure, though, that you will be hooked on this wonderful animal once you give them a try. While animals in general have been known to be therapeutic for people, horses specifically have additional. What can people gain from working with horses? A lot. Horses have been and continue to be used to help people physically and mentally. I understand that some individuals may question how people can obtain the same rewards from an online version as they do from their real-world counterparts. I can only speak for myself, but the physical and mental attributes that I have gained have been astounding. Let me give you some examples. I am only able to operate my computer with a mouse (I type with the help of an onscreen keyboard). When time allows for me to attend a riding class, I can work on my fine motor skills, as it is often expected that you ride your horses a certain way, even as a beginner, and this requires you to have a level of mastery of your keyboard and/or the SL movement controls. The last point that I want to make in support of spending time with horses in Second Life: . One night in December 2022, I joined a trail ride that just so happened to visit one of the most beautiful Christmas spots that I have ever seen in my entire life.
If you have a passion for or even an interest in anything horse-related, then the first thing that you need to do is visit Evergarden Equestrian. This place offers everything from riding lessons to trail rides.
So, let’s say that after you have stopped by Evergarden Equestrian a few times. you decided to make horses a part of your world permanently— where do you start? If you have been spending a good bit of time at Evergarden Equestrian, then you probably have an idea of what breed of horse you are thinking of getting. If you are unsure for any reason, then I encourage you to reach out to a staff member there; they are the experts and can help make the right decision for you. One thing that I would think about before buying a horse if you have not tested out all the things that you can do with them,

is what activities you want to do. What I mean by that is, different types of horses are better suited for specific pastimes. Once again, the amazing team at Evergarden Equestrian can assist you in finding the right breed for you.
Second Life offers so many wonderful things that one might not have or ever get the chance to experience. I do hope that you consider making time to try horses. Even if you are not a horse lover or are not really fond of animals in general, you should stukk give horses a chance, at least once. After all, isn’t life about trying out new things? So, open your mind and stop by Evergarden Equestrian today!

EXTRAORDINARY RAPTURE
Gin Blade
Sita Writer
Rapture has so many meanings: manifestation of ecstasy or passion; a state or experience of being carried away by overwhelming emotion; a mystical experience in which the spirit is exalted to knowledge of divine things… I experienced all of this and more with Gin Blade. I immediately realized how multi-cultural she is. That is no surprise, we all are, but the astounding element is her mind and flowing designs. We love that at BOSL.
Gin Blade, like many of us, found SL at the suggestion of a friend— and then fell into wonderland and her calling of creativity. “SL is an outlet for our creativity. I think it means different things for everyone, and we all have different reasons for being here. Some are here to create like myself, others are here to do something they love doing which they may not have the means of doing in RL, while some are here to meet people.”
Gin Blade is thoughtful in all she does, and she loves fashion… just look at her creations, and you can tell it is in her soul. If you pay attention, you already know it! “I’ve been in fashion most of my life, from modeling to fashion design. From a very early age, I started creating clothes for my Barbie. I was fascinated with fashion magazines and used to cut out different outfits to make collages by mood. Growing up, I knew I wanted to be involved in fashion, so I got a fashion design degree and launched my own clothing line— which I extended into SL 9 years ago.”
“SL gives me the ability to create almost anything,” Gin continues. “This goes beyond clothing design: it allows me to have experiences through themed events, which I LOVE, or even just a simple gettogether with friends. I love exploring SL. Most of
us don’t know a fraction of what there is to see, and I’m always amazed at what people have created here. I also love showing what SL has to offer to people who would never think about some of the things that are possible here.”
At the end of the day, Gin Blade loves to design amazing things and trust us, she does— and she does this from her very soul —because she wants peeps to be able to stand out in a sea of mediocrity and rise above looks that are cookie cutter and pedestrian with something timeless and thoughtful.

Having been interested in Art for most of my life, it was initially the visual aspects of SL that attracted me and made me want to explore what it had to offer. Unlike landscape photography in RL, it is possible to control the light and even the landscape itself when making SL photos. So making my own Windlight settings has become a big part of how I work here.
There are two branches to my SL photography, landscapes and erotica. Both of these themes fascinate me and continue to bring me pleasure in SL. I enjoy exploring beautiful sims and trying to capture the feeling of being there. I also enjoy seeing how women are far freer to express their sexuality in SL through their avis than they are in RL.
I've been in SL for many years now and am continuously inspired by the developing creativity of its artists and designers as well as some amazing people who I've met and befriended over the years.
