"Sala de Profes" (2013) is a documentary theatre play that explores the history of the teacher’s movement in Chile.
Through a collective research and creative process, the play gathers testimonies, press material and archival documents which help portray on the stage the historical demands of the education workers’ union. Four teachers from a public high school invite the audience into the privacy of the teachers' lounge, revealing the complex working conditions of the teaching staff, and debating about their labor and the sacrifices it imposes on their personal lives. With strength and conviction, they organize and rise in the frame of the so-called “Rebellion of the basis”, the Chilean teacher’s strike that took place in the year 2014.
