Hello, welcome to our new What’s On Guide Our journey continues… while Paisley ultimately didn’t win the accolade of UK City of Culture 2021, we did win new friends and self belief. Our programme sees us welcome an exciting creative mix of singers, bands, theatre makers, dance artists and comedians from the local area and further afield. National icon The Monarch of the Glen by Sir Edwin Landseer will be on display at Paisley Museum as part of a four-stop tour supported by National Galleries Scotland. Ballet West will return to Paisley Town Hall with their performance of Giselle ou les Wills. The Scottish Alternative Music Awards will stage a takeover of Paisley Arts Centre. We continue to develop opportunities for children and young people with the Inspired exhibition, the Puppet Animation Festival, and of course we are very proud to host

Concerts from this pair are always full of energy, laughter and wonderful music. Laura and Kristine are both Live Music Now Scotland artists, and are studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Stay behind for a cup of tea and a chat with the musicians after the performance. These concerts are open to anyone but may be particularly suitable for people suffering from dementia or those who would appreciate a less formal, more supportive environment and may ordinarily be anxious about attending a performance.
The Tannahill Weavers are one of Scotland’s premier traditional bands. Now on their 50th anniversary tour, their diverse repertoire spans the centuries with fire-driven instrumentals, topical songs, and original ballads and lullabies. Born of a session in Paisley and named for the town’s historic weaving industry and local poet laureate Robert Tannahill, the group has made an international name for its special brand of Scottish music, blending the beauty of traditional melodies with the power of modern rhythms. guest events

7.30pm
£10 (£6 conc) + bkg fee* From the creator of the hit show Black Is the Color of My Voice comes a new story about the 20th-century African-American experience. Against a powerful soundtrack of original music and traditional gospel and blues sung live, two women 42 years apart become involved in the struggle for civil rights. Both challenge the American justice system, become criminalized through political activism, and ultimately are faced with the same choice: stay and fight, or flee? Woke won the coveted Scotsman Fringe First Award for its premiere season, and was highly commended by the judges of the Amnesty Freedom of Expression Award.

Thirty years on, and thousands agree that he doesn’t just think he’s funny… he actually is!
