Inspired Family and Youth Arts Festival This new festival features a series of events and performances to encourage young people's participation in the arts. From 10 February–15 April, for more info visit www.renfrewshireleisure.com/arts
Our bid will transform perceptions of Paisley at home and abroad. It will shine a spotlight on the Town's unique story, as the home of Paisley Pattern and its historic role at the centre of the world's textile industry. It will unveil and celebrate our stunning architecture and an already thriving music, arts and entertainment scene, home to PACE Theatre Company— the UK's largest youth theatre group. Winning the UK City of Culture means a year-long extravaganza of major national events and a Renfrewshirewide events programme beyond 2021, that will make Paisley and Renfrewshire a key destination for national and international visitors and a great place to live. It will also have a huge and lasting impact locally within the Town, through the creation of new jobs for local people, opportunities for local business, and by attracting more visitors to our town centre and High Street. And we are asking everyone to show us their support and back Paisley's bid. Find out more at www.paisley2021.co.uk and show your support #Paisley2021

What would you do if everyone in the world hated you? Would you run? Would you fight? Or would you try to make them laugh? Donald Robertson has got no mates and he isn’t funny. But with guidance from his new mentor Gary, he hopes that this is all about to change. Writer/performer Gary McNair’s acclaimed monologue weaves a classic coming-of-age story with a pinpoint deconstruction of the darker side of stand-up comedy. “McNair delivers real insight along with the laughs… a gem of a show” The Telegraph
Sticks and stones didn’t break Her bones, but words and pointing crushed Her. Is Beauty really only skin deep? Does Ugliness hide somewhere deeper? Following the runaway international success of Forgotten and Silent, Ireland’s Fishamble presents Pat Kinevane’s third solo play, Underneath, directed by Jim Culleton. This stunning new play is a blackly comic, rich and vivid tale of a life lived in secret, a testament to the people who live on the fringes, under the nose of everyday life. It explores the surface, and what lies underneath. Winner of a Scotsman Fringe First Award 2015

Carol Laula has been dear to Glasgow’s heart ever since her song Standing Proud was picked as the anthem for its year as European City of Culture in 1990. Her eight albums to date have continued to showcase Laula’s vibrant voice and soulful folk-pop songwriting, interwoven with strands of country and blues.
The city of Dunedin, in New Zealand, takes its name from Edinburgh’s Gaelic designation, Dùn Éideann, and originally modelled much of its architecture on the Scottish capital. Both cities are also home to a distinctively independent, DIYminded music scene, through which they build on their historical links with this specially-curated Scottish/ Kiwi line-up featuring the likes of Robert Scott, Jay Clarkson, Dean Owens and Craig Lithgow. Did you know? A group of Paisley weavers travelled to Dunedin in the 18th century and set up a small community called Little Paisley in the heart of New Zealand.

Thanks to the success of the ‘Superhero genre’, graphic novels and comic illustration have gained immense popularity and respect in recent years. But this medium is not new. The cave paintings of ages past and hieroglyphics of ancient Egypt were the first examples of storytelling through pictures. Inspired by this tradition, this exhibition features 22 scenes from Scottish history, presented in graphic novel style, connecting popular culture to traditional heritage in fun and vibrant ways which will appeal to audiences of all ages. The exhibition will also give visitors the chance to try their hand at creating their own comic book page or character.

In a hole in the wall of a timber house, on the edge of a wood there lives a mouse… This is a lyrical story for under 5s and their adults to cosy in and enjoy together. As the seasons unfold through a cycle of sensory poems (told by a very small, very shy, furry little poet) we meet a writer who has come to the woods for inspiration; and finds the greatest things in the tiniest of spaces. Musical, tactile, curious and sweet, this play is a love letter to living moment to moment. Part of Inspired Family and Youth Arts Festival
