Set in the roaring, jazzy 1920s, it tells the story of rival vaudeville murderesses, nightclub star Velma and chorus girl Roxie, serving time in Cook County Jail. Velma, with her insatiable appetite for the spotlight, finds a way to turn her story into a media frenzy and prepares for a show business comeback, and Roxie looks to find her way in on the gig.
