Arts and crafts abound around Intown

If you didn’t get your fill of arts and crafts festivals in April, don’t worry – there are plenty more happening around Intown. From Sweet Auburn to Buckhead and Decatur to Kirkwood, keep your weekend’s open all month long.
Decatur Arts Festival
The 27th annual festival will be held Memorial Day weekend in and around downtown Decatur. The event kicks off May 22 with an ArtWalk around Decatur and the Oakhurst neighborhood to participating galleries and businesses. The giant artist market downtown will be open May 2324 featuring vendors from all over the region. There will also be live music, dance, performing arts, literary events, a kid’s area, food and much more. See the full schedule at decaturartsfestival.com.
VirginiaHighland Summerfest
Looking ahead, the 32nd annual Summerfest will be held June 6-7 on Virginia Avenue between North Highland and Park Drive. There will be arts, crafts, a 5K road race, children’s area and live music. For more, visit vahi.org/summerfest.
Sweet Auburn Springfest
The 31st annual festival will be held May 8-10 along Downtown’s historic Auburn Avenue, featuring three days of food, entertainment and information. Details were still be worked out at press time, but expect a kids’ fun zone, international food court, zip line and plenty of live music. Visit sweetauburn.com for more information.
Fire in the 4th
The Old Fourth Ward Business Association, Atlanta Fire Foundation and the Imperial OPA Circus will host the inaugural Fire in the 4th Festival on Edgewood and Auburn Avenues on May 2 from 2 to 10 p.m. An homage to the historic Great Atlanta Fire of 1917, there will be fire awareness activities, street performances, music, art installations and much more. Kirkwood Spring Fling
The 13th annual Kirkwood Spring Fling and Tour of Homes is set for May 16 at Bessie Branham Park. The day begins at 8 a.m. with a 5K road race along Hosea Williams Drive, while the artist market will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be live music, a kids’ area, food from local vendors and a Barbecue Cookoff are also on tap. On May 16-17 is the Kirkwood Tour of Homes, featuring classic Victorian cottages to modern lofts and everything in between. Tickets for the home tour are $20 and available online. Admission to the festival is free, while proceeds from the home tour benefit the Kirkwood Neighbors Organization. For more, visit kirkwoodfling.com.
