A partnership between Banyan Street Capital and Oaktree Capital Management has acquired the 50-story office tower 191 Peachtree in Downtown from Cousins Properties. The building is home to the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, Deloitte, Cooper Carry, Hall Booth Smith and The Commerce Club. The Metro Atlanta Chamber is also relocating to the building this year.

After Churchill Grounds Jazz Cafe shuttered at the Fox Theatre in Midtown, patrons were left wondering where the 20-year-old music venue would land. The location has been revealed: the new mixed-use retail development in Grant Park called The Beacon, which is slated to be complete by fall 2017. The Beacon, a group of industrial and warehouse spaces at 1039 Grant Street, will be transformed into the retail and dining destination. Tenants already announced include Third Street Goods, The Grant Park Public House, Balanced Fit Life and Salon Vagabond.
Downtown Atlanta’s Peachtree Center has unveiled Peachtree Marketplace, a pop-up retail concept in the mall area of the mixed-use property. The marketplace features four retailers – Baker Dude Cupcakes, Southern Candy Company, Qwik 2 Fix Smartphone Repair & Accessories and aromatherapy retailer Flame of Life
The Masquerade has finally departed its iconic home in the old Excelsior Mill on North Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward for Undergound Atlanta. The new address is 50 Lower Alabama St. in Kenny’s Alley. The mill complex, which was home to the Masquerade since 1989, is being transformed into a mixed-use residential and food hall.

ATLiER Props & Design, owned and founded by Eric Bomba-Ire and Phoebe Brown, features a curated collection of luxury and designer contemporary furniture, mid-century furniture, cleared art from local artists, rustic décor and collectibles, rugs, lighting and accessories. A new smartphone app created at Atlanta Tech Village has launched to help motorists who receive traffic tickets get legal help. Atticus connects drivers with lawyers who can help, even if they’re already at the courthouse awaiting their turn before a judge. Atticus charges a flat fee of $249 to hire an attorney. The app is available in Georgia via the Apple Store or Google Play and will roll out to the southeast next year.
The parent company of health insurance provider Georgia Blue Cross Blue Shield will create 1,800 new technology-related jobs in Midtown when it establishes a new IT hub in the Bank of America building. Anthem, Inc. will invest more than $20 million in the community throughout the next six years.

WeWork, the collaborative workspace, has leased three floors in the 100 Colony Square building in Midtown and is expected to open in mid 2017.
Co-working club concept Room to Work is the first tenant at The Willoughby office building under construction in the Old Fourth Ward. The 15,000-square-foot space will feature private conference and collaboration areas, food and beverage facilities, fitness and shower facilities, a staff of concierges, and other key amenities.

Gamma Real Estate has purchased the historic Hurt Building in Downtown Atlanta for $33.5 million from Boxer Properties. Designed in 1913 by architect Joel Hurt, the 18-story, 436,340-square-foot building is located at 50 Hurt Plaza and is one of Atlanta’s earliest skyscrapers.
