International ICT Service Company Capability Mapping - Visualizing Organizational Growth Based on 80.000 skills Need assessment As an international ICT organization with the aim of becoming the leading ICT services company in Europe, several attempts had already been made to define the optimal “skill mix” that the company would require to meet the aims. This proved to be a difficult process for two main reasons: • There was no process defined and agreed on within a Common Frame of Reference on the definition of the “skill set”. • There were no tools available to steer the processes to carry out the initial skill mapping, nor support to introduce capability mapping as an effective means to manage human resources across the organization.
Solution With the help of Resilience-Europe the organization first defined a Generic Skill Management Architecture on the basis of which implementation could be done anywhere in the organization, and the organization was prepared for global implementation. Result We helped the organization towards a common understanding that: • We must be able to count on a type of technological platform (Business Capability Platform). • There must be well defined processes and procedures for taking decisions in the line (training plans, success, recognizing potential and incorporating new employees. • On the basis of this common understanding we have implemented a Customer Capability Platform, where we can support more than 80.000 employee characteristics.
