Clear Communication and Results “From the first meeting and interactions with both Boofie and Margaret we felt they were knowledgeable, experienced and really understood the Reston market. They went above and beyond on so many levels to get the deal done! Boofie and Margaret were right there with us (holding our hands and doing the necessary leg work). They were

amazing all the way through these processes. We highly recommend The O’Gorman Team if you are selling or buying a home in Reston, VA. They are super responsive, caring and warm people that always had our best interests at heart and were 100% honest with us on what it would take to sell our home. Listen to their advice and recommendations. Thanks to their skills we sold our home in 4 days, even in the middle of the COVID-19 craziness. This team is amazing!”
~David & Kristy Carrithers
Fan Letter to Boofie “You did a splendid job in shepherding Lois through the many pitfalls and complications ensuing once we put that Regatta property on sale. The poor girl was not only without me to help out, she was also down in her new home much of the time. I have to admire your skill and am in absolute awe in the way you can put up with and handle the niggling problems that come up. So many of the little jobs like the right lights or painting or repair fell to you. When I saw that inspection report I was almost driven to despair. Yet, you seemed to glide right over it. Take a bow. You’re the best!”

LETTER FROM LAURA KOWALSKI
Director of Recreation and Environmental Education, CPRP, AFO We are all ready to move forward and away from the past year living amid a pandemic. Looking and listening for the bright spots kept our team going as we carefully planned for 2021. During this time, I have heard members, staff, and some of my own family remark about how lucky they are to live and work in Reston. As they explored the pathways and trails, something safe and popular this past year, their thoughts wander and slowed down as they remember childhood memories playing outside, simpler times. Outdoors was a great escape from technology and the changes thrust upon us by the pandemic. Our team has carefully planned this summer, with an eye on safety and hope that we can get back to enjoying things we missed. We invite you to bundle up and visit our parks, open space and participate in the many programs we have to offer.

Summer of Fun
O
n any given day in the summer, you will hear the nostalgic sounds of children laughing and playing as you pass through Reston recreation areas. Last summer was different. COVID-19 has impacted our lives in ways we could never could have imagined. Our youth programs were put on hold and the sounds of children were paused. School was virtual, play dates put on hold, birthday parties and family meetings were held online.
Our kids longed to be together, to play games, explore nature and foster friendships.
At Reston Camps, we are committed to coming back stronger in 2021. The need for people to recreate outdoors last summer was easy for Reston with our 55+ miles of pathways, abundance of pools, tennis courts, ballfields, basketball courts, open space, Walker Nature Center, tot lots and more. Stopping to reconnect with our natural environment was also at the top of the list, recommended by medical experts for a change of scenery, exercise, and mental health. Reston is rich with wildlife and the ability to walk through a forest on one of our paths. Our
4
camps will take full advantage of this unique benefit of Reston this summer. This summer brings your traditional favorites, or you can try something new. Dive into Aquatics Camp featuring swim instruction and traditional camp games at the pool. Join us at Adventure Camp using Reston, our summer camp playground, exploring trails, facilities and lakes with an array of activities at each. Launch into Watercraft Camp and learn boating safety, teamwork and fun while you cruise on canoes, kayaks and stand up paddle boards exploring Reston lakes, scavenger hunt style. Tap into nature at Young Naturalist Camp and explore our 72-acre park with hikes and science labs. Perfect for the young environmentalist in your family ready to protect the Earth and all living things. Something heavy on all our minds over these past few months is safety. Our priority is to ensure that everyone has a healthy and safe camp experience. Behind the scenes, we have always taken great care to develop and maintain protocols for camp following

the standards outlined by the Virginia Department of Social Services and American Red Cross. We have prepared for the reality that the pandemic may be with us through summer 2021 or beyond. We have updated our communicable disease plans and will continue to adjust based on requirements from the American Camp Association (ACA), Center for Disease Center (CDC) and our Governors Executive Orders. Therefore, below are a few key measures being implemented: Health screenings of staff and campers. Masks will be worn by staff and campers as outlined through executive orders and when physical distancing is difficult. Intensifying cleaning and disinfection practices to including frequently touched surfaces, items that may be shared, sports equipment, games, and transport vehicles. Campers will be in small

groups, we have prioritized outdoor activities, and implemented spacing measures where possible. Promoting healthy hygiene practices by reminding campers of the importance of washing their hands, providing hand sanitizer, and covering coughs, sneezes and more. Reminders of healthy habits will be posted around camp.
Will camp still be fun? Yes! Last summer, our team put the safety measures into practice, successfully opening pools, tennis courts and held in-person youth and family events. We are busy hiring energetic staff, planning fun, enriching activities and preparing in anticipation of the day we welcome everyone back to Reston Camps. Not sure what to try? Check out the Reston Camps section on page 28 in this guide to see descriptions to fill your summer with fun. Our Camp Team is ready

ur beautiful assisted living and memory care residence is well on its way toward completion on Sunrise Valley Drive, adjacent to Reston National Golf Course. We are proud to share that we are the third Kensington community to bring uncompromising care and service to metro DC area seniors and their families. When we ofcially open our doors in early 2021, we will uphold our promise to love and care for your family as we do our own. In fact, we will deliver more comprehensive assistance than many other traditional assisted living communities can offer. For example, excellent staff-to-resident ratios help deepen connections between caregivers and residents. Pocket programs, which are small-group activities
tailored to different interests and abilities, foster friendships and boost a sense of mastery. Two levels of memory care enable us to address the challenges unique to each phase of disease progression. Couples are welcome, even if the care needs of one half of the couple are not the same as the other. Complimentary meals for family and friends make dining together a real treat. And please note, we are taking great care to comply with all COVID safety regulations. We are currently conducting our tours in-person and are taking all recommended precautions to protect our guests from COVID. But, we will gladly make a virtual tour available if you prefer. No matter what you choose, we’re standing by, eager to listen and ready to help.
* Our residents, shown above, were photographed pre-COVID in late summer 2019. Masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) were not required at the time.

Tai Chi is an ancient form of Chinese exercise consisting of slow, beautiful, relaxed movements that develop a sense of balance and harmony between mind and body. Say goodbye to sweating, puffing and panting and say hello to feel cool, calm, refreshed and energized. This is exercise for the body and a study in concentration for the mind. Participants learn the “how” and the “why” behind each movement. Refer a friend to enroll and you both get a 10% discount at the time

RESTON ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES GUIDE
VOLUNTEER RESTON VOLUNTEER RESTON REOPENING PLAN At Reston Association, the well-being of our volunteers, staff, community partners and communities is our top priority. To help minimize the spread of COVID-19 we have had to make difficult changes to our volunteer program. Although many of our volunteer opportunities have been temporarily suspended or reduced, we are excited to begin slowly and safely welcoming volunteers back to our programs in small groups. We are closely following updates and recommendations from the CDC and local government.
During Phase 3, our volunteer opportunities will be held outdoors with 25 volunteers or less. We will continue to expand the number of volunteer, and opportunities as we are able to do so safely.
If you are ready to get involved, please review our updated volunteer guidelines below, complete our Volunteer Application and COVID-19 Waiver. We know that these guidelines are changing rapidly and we are prepared to adapt as needed.
Based on the latest guidelines and the understanding that working outdoors has a low risk for disease transmission, this is our current plan for volunteer engagement: All volunteer opportunities are outdoors. Volunteers will be asked to sign an electronic COVID-19 waiver. Opportunities will be posted in VicNet, limited 25 volunteers or less. May expand if we are able to do so safely.
Volunteers will check-in at staggered times. Volunteer groups will be limited to be able to maintain a safe distance. We will always follow the most current and local guidelines for gathering sizes. Everyone should avoid close contact with fellow volunteers and should maintain 6 foot distancing. All volunteers and staff are required to properly wear face masks or coverings while working or volunteering with Volunteer Reston and in proximity with each other or the public. Please bring your own mask, water bottles and gloves. Staff will assign volunteers specific tasks and locations at job site to facilitate and maintain safe distances while working. All participants will be asked a set of health screen questions based on the latest CDC Guidance prior to participating in any activities. Our staff will continue increased sanitizing measures for all tools and supplies, including gloves. At this time, we are not providing water coolers or snacks, so please bring your own.
Volunteer Reston will provide hand sanitizer accessible to all staff and volunteers. To help protect everyone from the spread of COVID-19 or any other illness, we ask any volunteer who is not feeling well to stay home and not attend a VR project until any symptoms such as cough, runny nose, wheezing,
elevated temperature or shortness of breath have completely subsided for at least 72 hours. Volunteers considered at higher risk should make their own decisions regarding whether to participate.
For more information on our volunteer program or reopening plan please contact Ha Brock, Volunteer Reston Manager at ha@reston.org.
