ACTIVITIES, PROGRAMS & EVENTS Something for Everyone Living in Reston is like living in a park. Over 1,350 acres of open space are maintained throughout the community, and a wide variety of facilities and programs offer year-round opportunities for fitness, fun and exploration. Fifty-five miles of paved pathways and natural surface trails connect our facilities, neighborhoods, schools and shopping, and are perfect for walkers, joggers and bicyclists. More than 700 acres of forest, 50 meadows, and four wetlands provide beautiful vistas and important habitat for local wildlife. Aquatic habitats include four lakes, three ponds and 20 miles of streams, enjoyed by boaters and anglers.
Aquatics Reston Association is currently operating 2 pools under Phase 3 guidance which permits lap swimming, exercise, instruction, and free/recreational swim. All pools are open seven days a week to members and non-members who have a valid 2020 Recreation Pass. Guests of passholders are not permitted at this time and all Season-Long Guest Passes are being extended through 2021. We hope to be able to welcome Guests of passholders later this summer.
Camps As the longest-operating camp program in our community, Reston Camps has provided children with a fun and safe way to explore Reston’s natural environment and its recreational opportunities for over 45 years. Generations of Restonians, from campers to counselors, have participated in Reston Camps. Our camps help children grow physically, emotionally and socially. Campers are encouraged to demonstrate respect for themselves, others and the environment. At Reston Camps, we explore nature, find new talents, try new activities, gain independence and make lasting friendships and memories. We are committed to providing your child with a rewarding and memorable experience. Our safety and supervision exceed the minimum standards for child day centers, as required by the Virginia Department of Social Services. We hire community leaders who will help build character and create positive experiences that will last a lifetime.
