Dear Readers,

Can you still remember the first year after the turn of the millennium and what was special about that year? Possibly the fact that Michael Schumacher was once again crowned Formula 1 World Champion. Apple presented the first iPod without anyone ever suspecting that years later it would invincingly become the world’s most valuable brand. The first new Mini rolled off the assembly line and the first RETRO CLASSICS® STUTTGART opened its doors at the former site of Messe Stuttgart in Killesberg. It is a unique success story: what began back then as a relatively modest meeting for automobile enthusiasts has long become the world’s largest trade fair for driving culture, a super show at one of the most modern trade fair centres in Europe, a must-attend event and a yardstick of an entire scene. The continuing popularity of RETRO CLASSICS® STUTTGART among exhibitors and visitors is due to its perfect mixture of exhibits, services and an accompanying programme. In 2018 the trade fair was crowned “Show of the Year” in the renowned Historic Motoring Awards. Long before advertising called nearly everything an “event”, we relied on a coherent overall experience which now fortunately attracts guests to Stuttgart from all parts of the world. This means that we cannot afford to rest on our laurels. Far from it. When RETRO CLASSICS® STUTTGART opens its doors for collectors, dealers, connoisseurs and lovers of classic cars for the 20th time on 27 February 2020, you will see that no great changes have been made: it is still a meeting point for automobile enthusiasts.

We would therefore be delighted if you came to visit us in Stuttgart where you can expect a warm welcome at our anniversary trade fair.

erinnern Sie sich noch an das Jahr 2001 und was dieses erste Jahr nach dem Jahrtausendwechsel besonders gemacht hat? Michael Schumacher wird damals wiederholt Formel-1-Weltmeister. Apple präsentiert den ersten iPod – noch ahnt niemand, dass sich dieses Unternehmen später unschlagbar zur wertvollsten Marke der Welt entwickeln wird. Der erste neue Mini läuft vom Band. Und: Auf dem ehemaligen Gelände der Messe Stuttgart auf dem Killesberg öffnet die erste RETRO CLASSICS® STUTTGART ihre Pforten. Ebenfalls eine beispiellose Erfolgsgeschichte: Was damals als relativ überschaubares Treffen von Automobilenthusiasten begann, hat sich längst zur weltweit größten Messe für Fahrkultur gemausert. Zur Superschau an einem der modernsten Messestandorte Europas, zum Pflichttermin und Gradmesser einer ganzen Szene. Den anhaltenden Zuspruch von Ausstellern und Besuchern verdankt die bei den renommierten ‚Historic Motoring Awards 2018‘ in London zur „Show of the Year“ gekürte Veranstaltung einer perfekten Mischung aus Angebot, Service und Rahmenprogramm. Lange bevor die Werbung so gut wie alles zum „Event“ deklarierte, setzten wir auf ein stimmiges Gesamterlebnis, welches erfreulicherweise Gäste aus aller Herren Länder zu uns nach Stuttgart lockt. Das bedeutet nicht, dass wir uns auf dem Geleisteten ausruhen. Mitnichten. Wenn am 27. Februar 2020 die RETRO CLASSICS® STUTTGART zum 20. Mal ihre Pforten für Sammler, Händler, Kenner und Liebhaber klassischer Automobile öffnet, dann werden Sie sehen, dass sich im besten Sinne nichts großartig geändert hat: Sie ist immer noch ein Treffen von Automobilenthusiasten.
