I will never replace Mick Brown Interview to Mike Kelly by Diego Centurión

The questions are based on some concerts in South America. And that in our next issue, we review three concerts, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina. But first I want to tell you, what you have caused in us fans in Latin America. I think it’s the first time, after Mick Brown, has not been a drummer who has made us forget Mick in concert. Until you came along. You’ve gotten all the fans very special way, how you interpret and feel the songs, I know the fans are very happy with you, and you were one of the pleasant comments.

Ah thank you for the kind words... I will never replace Mick Brown, he was an amazing player...I have tried to take something from how he played and studied the songs. I do also have my own style and if people think it works with the band then I am very humbled. I had not heard a lot of the different bands and versions of the songs over the years, so was referencing the original recordings and trying to get back to more like that sound.

THE 13Th. 111

How does it feel to be in The Mission? The Mission is a great bunch of friends so lots of fun but not forgetting they are great seasoned musicians too. It’s a privilege to be involved. No doubt that with his accomplice Craig, are seen grinning on stage. That did not used to be common since the departure of Brown. Especially with the new arrangements. I hold Mr Adams as a dear friend... I even produced his solo record “Demon King” in my studio in Brighton that I am very proud to have made with him... We have a rhythm section bond but also something deeper. We do also lark about quite a lot! We have been called ¡tweedle dee and tweedle dum! Is it your first time in South America? How did you feel with this audience? I have played quite a number of shows in South America now... the audiences are so warm and passionate, it’s great to see, and to play to magic people like that is great fun and exciting! Tell us what you remember about Chile A cool gig... think Wayne did not like the lights and said something funny about it on stage! Tell us what you remember about Uruguay Not a lot...??? Ha Ha! Sorry!! It all goes into a blur! Tell us what you remember about Argentina 112 .THE 13TH

Played this venue before, it’s great and has a radio station running in the top of the theatre. I went up for a look about this time whilst Wayne did an interview. The Stage is good, the drum kit is good, and it has a theatre vibe because there is a big velvet curtain that is closed, as we start playing then opens as we get into the first song of the set with smoke dry ice and lights makes a great entrance..! Was so lovely to see our pal Jimmy Rip there for a catch up too. The support band are lovely guys.. and a friend of a friend from Brighton is there at the show as she moved there recently. Nice to chat to her in English and get here take on Buenos Aries! Love that place. It would be in the top of my lists for places to go if I were looking to move.! Vibrant place, love it!! Mike thanks for joining The Mission!!! Best wishes, Mike xx
