Ignorance, lack of coordination or insensitivity The city of Igualada performs a Biketrial competition over the engine “Balsareny” which takes in custody. AUTHOR: SANTI COMPTE
Between 27 and 28 July in the city of Igualada
have completed the competition for the second test Biketrial World 2012. The organization has been in charge of the City of Igualada, in their areas of sport and economic development (who has been involved with logistics and economically) and Oci-sport company, dedicated to this type of events, together with the International Federation of Biketrail. Unlike previous competitions, this time has been made for the first time in an urban environment, in order to disseminate the sport and greater citizen participation. Congratulations on the success of the test and for local athletes to the podium six times.
We regret the performance of the organization. A series of events have swept over the locomotive Balsareny. Repeatedly the Association of Friends TRAIN D’IGUALADA, has addressed verbally Igualada consistory for transfer to a more suitable place for this locomotive (inside the compound of one of the museums), as it is being plundered day day and has an important degree of corrosion. It also serves as a cause of urinary and mistreatment by different people The Association of Friends TRAIN D’IGUALADA, has received the support of the Catalan Federation of Friends of the Railroad in a letter dated July 25 reproduced on its website, which notes, with photographs included, the serious state of deterioration that is, and in which he says that is part of the Working Group on the revaluation Industrial Heritage Railway of Catalonia, together with other important entities. 6
Afterwards the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OF CATALUNYA also mentions this initiative. Well, first of all the above, failed to prevent the locomotive Balsareny out star of one of the maneuvers that the participants in the second test Biketrial World 2012, had to make. Placed in contact with the various organizers, they have expressed their ignorance about the importance of this locomotive for railway heritage, and lament the use of it in this event. The test was to climb to the ceiling height of the cab by a scaffolding alongside the locomotive as a railway sleepers, which represented a 95% exercise to crown a turning maneuver on the roof of the Balsareny (5% of the test). These maneuvers have not deteriorated over what was the Balsareny, but it has sparked a bad being in different bodies, federations, associations and railway enthusiasts, who believe that our industrial heritage railway, is a real unknown for entities the custodian. We want facts as described, not reoccur on these pieces, which are not simple irons, if they are not linked to our history, trade and industrial development. We want our descendants may see in the future, “in situ”, this type of piece railway, because unfortunately we are convinced that they can never move, it would be his ideal state, like what happens in other European countries or in the U.S..

SPECIAL SWITZERLAND
Without a doubt Switzerland is a paradise for lovers of the railway. A far and wide this small country exists a dense network which mixes railway trains and railway companies of different type and gauge. Some of its trains, tourist eminently, are an essential part of the landscape, transporting visitors to the highest peaks in Europe, through valleys and gorges, often using rack systems that save important drops. Water is one of the main elements in facing the railroad, saving lakes, rushing mountain rivers and even glaciers. That same water is a source of energy and therefore the Swiss railways are almost entirely electric, but the steam has gone no further and continue to circulate for many lines trains pulled by steam locomotives. This begins a series of articles dedicated to the Swiss railway which we hope will be of interest.

SPECIAL SWITZERLAND
A journey through the heart of Switzerland Without a doubt the hardest part when organizing a trip to Switzerland will be to choose our railway destiny. The enormous variety of existing trains and lines in this country make it impossible to cover everything in one trip. Decide what type of rail we know, is also complicated, as we tend to our disposal a wide range, with similarities and differences enough to think that we have left the country without realizing it, but no, Swiss trains run through narrow valleys, zippered sections used in narrow gauge lines princiapl, climb steep ramps in standard width as the Gothardo, run alongside lakes and glaciers rise up like the Jungfrau or bushy form metric networks such as the metric Rhaetian railways. All have in common their interconnection and high cadence of its services, comfortable and fast trains, where it is still possible down the window and enjoy the scenery and train in a way that can not be done elsewhere, for Switzerland the train is more than a means of mass transport, is part of their identity. Our railway journey through the heart of Switzerland begins in Geneva after falling a comfortable flight with SWISS from Madrid. In the same airport terminal we took a Inter Regio train that will take us to Vevey, passing Nyon and Lausanne, always bordering the stunning Lake Geneva.
10
HOW TO GET THERE The quickest and easiest way to reach to Switzerland from Spain is by plane. SWISS offers 8 daily flights between Barcelona and Switzerland, one in Basel, Geneva and three to four to Zurich. From Madrid SWISS offers 6 daily flights, three to Geneva and three to Zurich. It is also possible to fly to Geneva from Malaga and Palma de Mallorca and Zurich from Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Valencia. For train lovers have the option of riding the Talgo “Pau Casals between Barcelona and Zurich, with stops in Girona, Figueres, Perpignan, Geneva, Lausanne, Fribourg and Bern. Travel time is about 15 hours that will comfortably sleeping, because the output is at 18:25 and arrival from Barcelona to Zurich at 10:09. SBB trains are fast, comfortable and clean, cars have first and second class with air conditioning, and on some trains is still possible to find cars where you can roll down the window. The trip lasts just over an hour and will have many frequencies throughout the day and no reservation fee.
SPECIAL SWITZERLAND After descending from the train in Vevey, just across Lake Geneva, 72-km long, we take at the same station narrow gauge train company Transports Montreux-Vevey-Riviera (MVR) that would take us to Blonay.

LAUSANNE Is the capital of the canton of Vaud and of the district of Lausanne. Located next to Lake Geneva on a slope descending from the hills of the Swiss plateau to the north shore of Lake Geneva. The city is crossed by four rivers: the river Flon, the Louve, the Vuachère and Riolet. It is the fourth most populous city in Switzerland, with about 130,000 residents. This city is the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Museum.

Among the steam locomotives find a Spanish locomotive, this is the locomotive No. 23 OlotGirona, built by MTM in Barcelona in 1926, acquired by the railroad and awaiting restoration functional The collection of steam locomotives consists of 10 individuals, from different Swiss and German railways. Also a former steam snowplow Fuka. The electric locomotive fleet consists of four units, all Swiss, while diesel locomotives are only represented by a Swiss locomotive MOB. The electric vehicles are a family of 15 members, all from different companies.

In Oberwald we enter a long tunnel to the complicated Real replacing the Furka mountain pass. This step was interrupted in winter due to heavy snow that prevents its removal, as well as the need to remove a metal bridge over a channel that snow drag. Currently the Furka pass line is held by an association that operates on a tour this beautiful journey during the summer months. For exploitation have recovered several steam locomotives originating from this line, as well as cars and wagons.

MODELISMO
IMPROVING OUR 269 AUTHOR: REDACCIÓN
It is well known to all fans as the quality of the business models, much higher than a few decades ago. However, there are models with no reproduce or a bad reproduction we can improve on our part. In the case of 269 locomotives have two views, first Ibertren signature made in the 80’s and the other we have made a few years ago by the mark Electrotren. Both models are not in relief plates, these plates being carried by tampon order to ride the molds for other versions of locomotives.
56
MODELISMO With the 269 upgrade kit “Japanese” Electrotren / Ibertren H0 RO-001 which can buy on our online store, we can improve the appearance of our beloved “Japanese”. We begin by familiarizing with the kit, we can see that there are several versions of manufacturer plates and faceplates that can be used in five locomotives: 269,504 and 269,078 green livery livery Estrella livery Mil rayas livery Mazinguer livery Cercanías Also can be used for decorations Taxi and great lines. We will describe the placement for the green version, note that there are two versions of faceplates, a logo with the letters RENFE periods III and IV and the other with the “cookie” epoch IV. We proceed to paint on a green Tamiya X28 or X25 X4 with drops of up to the tone of the bodywork or paint brand we use. Once the paint is dry proceed to sand with P600 grit blade wet water so as not to make scratches on the brass. As observation is true that in the plates with the letters previously RENFE tin can set the tone for silver, we will use a soldering tin almost nothing, apply flux to the plates and had the welder, with this process we have to be tinned very smooth one.
57
MODELISMO In case of excess, clean the soldering iron and reapply flux, bringing a piece of brass to phase out the excess. Once this process thoroughly clean with warm soapy water and cleaning solvent to remove any dirt. For placement will use 2-component epoxy adhesive Araldite type, Poxipol, etc. to paste into the body plates. The cyanoacrylate is not recommended since they do not make permanent joints between plastic and metal. Once painted and glued varnish is advisable to protect the color of metal or tin. In the other versions will only use plates manufacturer, you are placed on the sides of the body With this kit we give a new look to one of the most representative models of the Spanish rail while enjoyed an afternoon modeling for a good price. Above we see the locomotive with his new brass plate with the background painted. Below: In the lateral plates are located builder, in this case tin

AUTOR: REDACCIĂ“N
After the creation of the DRG, it was decided to modernize 629 Bavarian locomotives due to economic hardship that crossed Germany and the inability to acquire new material. Despite this it was decided to build a series of new locomotives based on the GTL model 4/4 with some differences, such as the adoption of a rear axle load increase allowing water and coal. 45 units were built by KraussMaffei, who survived the war and passed on to the DB that remained in service until his retirement. 60

With this model Brawa will allow us to make countless maneuvers yards, short haul or local trains in secondary lines from our model. Our analysis of this model begins, as always, from the packaging, which as usual in Brawa protects perfectly the model and its small and compact design allows adequate storage space. The first impression of the locomotive is very positive, and that despite its small size is replete with details. Would be impossible to list them all, but you look at the perfect reproduction of the injection pump, the steam generator, faucets and valves that run the boiler, as well as numerous handrails on the side tanks, doors and stairs. The multitude of rivets in the body of the locomotive, made entirely of metal, as well as the many accessories make discover new elements in every part of this beautiful model. The chassis was made accurately and has a good set of rods, which works with excellent accuracy. From top to bottom: The front of the locomotive has many details, such as lamps, plates and pumps The boiler body has all the elements on the dome, sandpit and bell. The pad is very elegant, offering excellent sharpness.

Set on the track, the speed is very low, reaching 50 km / h at 12V and a maximum of 60 km / h, a speed that allows you to enjoy some benefits commensurate with the model.
Two switchable white lights in the direction of the light up from within the two lanterns that have the locomotive on each front, with good effect.
The traction is adequate in size and employment, without adherence problems because of their weight, exceeding 200 g. thanks its metal construction.
