Eleanor never meant to get into street racing but the money is good, and her boyfriend, Jimmy, is in trouble. He’s made a few too many losing bets, and gotten in deep with some loan sharks. Jimmy’s also got a jealous streak. He thinks Randy and Alvaro are after his girl - racing to impress her. But Eleanor only has eyes for one thing: the prize money that can save Jimmy from two broken legs, when the bookies come to collect tonight. ‘Come on, Ellie. I promise, if you save my ass this time, I’m giving up gambling for good.’
Eleanor’s mind is working a mile a minute. All she needs is one moment of confusion to lift the money and make her getaway with Jimmy. But Sue and Liz, hometown girlfriends of Randy and Alvaro, are eyeing her with suspicion. They don’t trust the new girl in town. What’s her angle? Meanwhile, Mrs. B shows up. She doesn’t want her son, Alvaro, risking his neck in an illegal street race.
‘I can’t lose him, Sue. Can’t you do something to stop this?’
meanwhile... Liz is too hot-tempered to soothe her boyfriend’s mother yet again. So Sue steps in to set Mrs. B’s mind at ease. ‘Don’t worry Mrs. B,’ she says. ‘Nothing is going to happen to Al. He and Randy have been doing this for years now. They are pros.’
‘She’s really freaking out, Liz. What are you doing over here?’
‘I’m just having a talk with fresh meat here. I don’t know what your game is, guy, but you’d do well to take your girl and your bike and get the hell out of here before 5.’
‘Your son is a racer. Get used to it.’
‘Honey, please don’t do this! I can’t bear to see you get hurt. We don’t need the money.’
‘No problem. Anything for a fan. So, you been doing this long?’
Meanwhile, Randy talks to Lauren, the umbrella girl. He seems to have his mind on something other than the race. Sue keeps an eye on the now-familiar scene.
The flag goes down
and both riders take off. Randy gets out in front early.
‘Get used to the sight of my tail light, buddy.’
‘Shit! He got a fast start.’
All eyes are on the race - but the real action is in the shadows, with Eleanor and Jimmy. He puts on a brave face, but he’s sweating bullets. Little do they know, they’re about to get their big chance at the money.
‘He hit Randy on purpose! ‘
A crash!
Sue and Liz argue about who caused it, but Randy and Alvaro have bigger problems: their prize money is getting away. Talk about insult to injury.
‘The hell he did!’
‘Hold onto that cash tight, baby.’
‘Way ahead of you.’
Just then, the police arrive, responding to a tip about an illegal race. Eleanor and Jimmy make a run for it, leaving Randy, Alvaro, and the booker to take the fall. They speed away from the chaotic scene, adrenaline pumping through their veins, to make payment on Jimmy’s debt. They’ve made their Great Escape. But their addiction to adrenaline remains - and another caper can’t be far behind.

Major Change #1 REV’IT! sponsored rider Randy de Puniet moves to Pramac Ducati After the last race of the 2010 season, in the world’s premier motorbike racing series, Randy took the opportunity at the official MotoGP Test at Valencia to ride his first few kilometers on his new Ducati. He ended the two-day run with positive feelings.

Randy says: ‘I cherish my moments with the LCR Honda MotoGP team. But I’m really looking forward to riding for Pramac Ducati. The Ducati suits my riding style, and I am confident that the evolution in 2011 will be even better. Ducati uses a carbon frame and swing arm. Also, the engine character is a totally different story. On this bike you need to change your riding style, because the front of the bike is precise, but also a little more physical. I enjoyed riding it a lot. My target for 2011 is to make it my best season in MotoGP, and win my first victory in this category.’
Major Change #2 REV’IT! enters the AMA racing scene supporting PJ Jacobsen The AMA Pro Daytona SportBike championship can be compared to the Supersport class: it’s an exciting series for a large number of diverse participants, who are racing a wide variety of motorcycles. In 2011 REV’IT! will sponsor its first rider in this championship, the talented PJ Jacobsen of Celtic Racing. PJ and the team enjoyed a successful 2010 AMA Sportbike season, with 9 top-ten finishes in AMA Pro’s most competitive class. This year PJ races on the new Ducati 848 EVO. ‘2010 was a good year for us,’ PJ says. ‘We made a lot of progress and the team worked really hard. Dreams. Everybody has them. One of mine was to visit Australia. I’ve always been drawn to the continent. Australia has such an air of adventure and mystery – I just knew I had to go. If you want to see as much as you can, you have to have the freedom to move around the country. So I figured: why not do it on a motorcycle? That is where my adventure of a lifetime started. In May 2010 I started preparing for my trip. No big deal: just booking a ticket, applying for a visa, arranging a motorcycle, a proper helmet, and a TomTom to guide me, and reading about what Australia has to offer. The country is 3.700 km from

North to South, and 4.000km from East to West. This varies along the coastline, which takes a lot of bends and curves. With just 4 weeks to cover much of a continent, you have to go in with a plan: What do I want to see? What do I want to do? How many kilometers am I willing and able to ride in a relatively short time? I really wanted to see the Whitsunday Islands and Phillip Island, and to ring in the New Year in Sydney: a city that really knows how to celebrate. So I figured I would start in Queensland, go on to New South Wales, Victoria, and then finish the adventure in New South Wales again. That was it for planning. Let’s just see what Australia has to offer and take it as it is.

No more ‘What ifs’
On December 5th I said goodbye to my family and friends, and on December 7th I said hello to Australia. I arrived in Cairns. After being dropped off at my hostel, I spent 2 relaxing days in Cairns, and went snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. Then I was able to collect my bike at Team Moto Yamaha Cairns. I was so excited! Finally, my adventure could really begin. Of course, at that moment I began to second-guess myself.
The Queensland coastline The coastline of Queensland is absolutely amazing. When I went to Airlie Beach I visited the Whitsunday Islands, and I can honestly say: I have never seen anything so beautiful in my life! The Whitsundays are a natural gem to be discovered, and the weather was crystal clear and sunny. I think you could go back year after year, and be up for a new experience and a different memorable holiday every time.
Brisbane - Byron Bay – Melbourne
After visiting a lot of coastal spots, I was ready for a big city: Brisbane. I left Noosa Heads and started my ritual: clean helmet, adjust TomTom, check tire pressure. It was already raining a bit, but after an hour it started to rain heavily. Another tropical rainstorm. And nothing tropical about this one! Within a couple of minutes the Bruce Highway turned into a river. I had to find a place
I fulfilled my lifelong dream to explore Australia, seeing the beautiful sights and exotic animals, and experiencing the country from the best possible perspective: astride a Yamaha XT660Z
“I’ve never driven on the left side of the road before,” “what if I get run over by a kangaroo,” what if, what if…. But the guys at the Yamaha store helped me lower the motorcycle, pack all my stuff onto it, and add the TomTom. Then there were no more what ifs. It was time to go. The first ride I wanted to do was from Cairns to Byron Bay, making several stops along the way. From the start, the Yamaha XT660Z completely blew me away. It had just 5km on it when I started, so I had the honor of breaking it in. What a great long-distance bike is this. Especially as it has a 23-liter tank, which you definitely need in Australia.

Unfortunately the weather changed completely the day after I visited the Whitsundays. Rain, thunderstorms, flooding, road closures. This was just the start of the bad weather during my trip. Every morning when I woke up I checked the forecasts and talked to the locals, who could tell me whether it was wise to go, or if I needed to re-think the route I wanted to take. The Australians I met were a great help throughout my trip, and I always welcomed their advice with open arms. They know their country inside and out, and they love for every single visitor to experience Australia and its beauty, because it is so dear to them.
where I could shelter – and so I ended up in a carwash. The reactions of the people passing were pretty funny. Got a lot of thumbs up. After all that time on the coast, I needed to get used to Brisbane. It really felt like a big city, moving 24/7. In Brisbane I also stayed in a hostel – the perfect place to meet a lot of other backpackers/travelers, who shared their experiences and gave me great tips about other places to visit. One of those tips was Byron Bay, in New South Wales, and it was a bull’s eye. This was the best place for taking 3 days off to relax, after riding 1900 km’s in a couple of days’ time. Next stop: Melbourne. Make no mistake,
it’s impossible to do this in 1 day. Not only because it was a long ride, but also because I wanted to get off the coast and see more inland sights. I looked on my map and figured I could do the 1700 kilometers in 3 days. My first destination on the route was Tamworth, known as “Country Music Capital of Australia.” A little more than 500 km’s, but probably the hardest part of these 3 days. It took me 2 hours to go just 60 km’s through the mountains, with hairpin turns where 25 km/h was the fastest I’d risk. The surroundings were indescribable: beautiful forests and lots of native animals.
Locusts everywhere
Fortunately, Australia’s wildlife cooperated during my trip. Well, sort of. From Byron Bay to Tamworth, I was surrounded by beautiful butterflies. From Tamworth to West Wyalong, I was accompanied by dragonflies, which actually started to hurt. The best part came when I was riding from West Wyalong to Melbourne: I had been riding for 20 minutes, when all of a sudden a parrot felt very attracted to my helmet and decided to take a closer look. From the corner of my eye I saw the parrot approaching me. I stooped at the right moment and, luckily, it flew millimeters over my head. Yikes. That was a close call.

Then, a half-hour later, I saw a locust the size of my hand. Before I knew it, I was surrounded by them. I had to ride for more than an hour and a half through this horrible plague. My windscreen turned into a locust cemetery. When I finally arrived in Melbourne and took off my motorcycle gear, I even had bruises on my arms.
Great Ocean Road
I really wanted to ride the Great Ocean Road so, on Christmas Day, I got my gear on and rode to Torquay, which is at the start of the road. I must say, this is really another wonder of the world. The road takes you through rainforests, beautiful beaches, and amazing cliffs. I wanted to stop after every corner to take more pictures, because it just takes your breath away. On Boxing Day I left my bike at the hostel and booked myself an Ecotrip to Phillip Island. Sadly, I had seen a lot of dead kangaroos on the way down, as roadkill, so I thought it was time to see some living ones – along with some of Australia’s other animals. I visited the Wildlife Conservation Park and a Koala Conservation Centre, and went to see the Penguin Parade. The Ecotrip was amazing. Not only do you get a stunning impression of the unique beauty of the native flora and fauna, but you also help support Australia’s animals and local tourism.
Melbourne-Sydney
After spending a few days in Melbourne, I was ready to ride the last leg of my adventure. Heading down the coast from Melbourne to Sydney, I saw a lot of fellow motorcycle travelers. It was also a great tour through the mountains, national parks, and other places where you can stop to enjoy the beautiful coastlines. I arrived in Sydney on December 29th, and on December 30th I returned my motorcycle to the Yamaha Motor Australia head office. My odometer was at 5358, minus the 5 km that were on the meter when I started… that makes 5353 km’s in 20 days’ time. Not bad. And celebrating New Year’s in Sydney was the best way to end this adventure of a lifetime. I want to thank Yamaha Motor Australia for supporting me with the XT660Z, TomTom Rider for leading me through the most beautiful places, Shark for providing me with a RSR2 helmet, Oakley for giving me the perfect sunglasses (which you definitely need), and the fellow travelers who invited me to BBQs. Most of all I want to thank the residents for making me feel at home – and Australia herself, for making this an adventure of a lifetime. Although, trust me… I will be back.

Alvaro MotoGP is all about figures, points, and numbers. REV’IT! rider Alvaro Bautista made his MotoGP debut on a Suzuki GSV-R in 2010 and finished a very respectable thirteenth. The former 125cc world champion is not satisfied, however – he is striving for higher ranking in 2011. So we decided to talk numbers with the 26-year-old Spaniard. Three... two... one... lights off! Go!
1984
– The year of his birth “I have three sisters and I was the third child in our family. We are a very tight family. My father loved bikes, but the decision to ride came from within myself. I pushed really hard and he said, ‘Okay, let’s race.’ I started in motocross, but did not race. When I was eight years old, I started racing mini bikes. Then I knew: ‘This is what I want.’ Angel Nieto won the world championship that year, but I don’t remember if he won the 125cc or the 80cc category.”
2006
– The year of Alvaro’s 125 championship “Every year you think, ‘This is going to be my year.’ But this was different, because in 2004 I was in seventh, and the six riders in front of me moved to 250. So I was first, in a way. Unfortunately, in 2005, we had big, big technical problems with our factory Honda. In 2006 I returned to Aprilia [with the Martinez team], and from the first day on I felt a lot more confident. Also, because of the bad year before, I had a lot more motivation to show that I could do it. It was a fantastic year. Before the first race in Jerez I was so nervous, because I could not remember what it felt like to fight for a win. But it went very well, and I won the race with a good lead on the others. It was great to win a race in front of a Spanish crowd. I won eight Grand Prix, and my worst results were two fourth-place finishes, due to mechanical problems. It was an incredible season.”

– His signature race number “When I was a kid my favorite number was 27. But when I entered the world championship one other rider already had it; you know who he is [Casey Stoner]. I had to choose another, between 14 and 19. I chose 19, because guys like Spencer and Kocinski used it and got world titles. Now it’s my favorite number. It consists of the numbers 1 and 9, so in fact you’ve got all numbers covered! When I won the championship I thought about doing another 125 season carrying the number 1 plate, but I also knew this was my maximum and I wanted to continue learning as a rider. I also thought about riding in 250 and 125, but I never spoke to anyone about it. I guess it would have been too expensive and too difficult.”

“For sure my first win [in 2006] was very special, because it was in Jerez. Also in 2007 I had a very bad start in the 250 race in Estoril, but I kept pushing and I caught Dovizioso and Lorenzo. I could feel the adrenaline and the energy going like crazy. That was a special race and it gave me a lot of motivation. It was my best victory in 250. I also remember winning in Mugello that year. Lorenzo and I touched, and he crashed. He was very angry. Before that race we always spoke to each other. But never again after that race!”
46 – His rostrum positions in 125
and 250 “I can be happy with second or third. In 2007 I raced my second race in 250 in Jerez and I fought with Dovizioso and Lorenzo. We passed each other 44 times during that race and I finished second to Lorenzo. There was less than 0.3 seconds between the three of us. In 2009 I finished second again in Jerez, behind Aoyama. I think Aoyama, Simoncelli, and I passed each other 47 times! I was second and saw victory very near. So you have different emotions finishing second.”
800 – The engine capacity of a
MotoGP bike “The power was the biggest difference when I switched from 250s. Incredible... I remember my first test after the last GP of 2009 in Valencia. I got on the straight and the front wheel just refused to stay down. It seemed like the straight was 200 meters shorter! The bike weighs more, but the balance of the Suzuki felt better than my 250 Aprilia. To be honest, I like the sound of a two-stroke better. Fourstrokes sound like tractors! Like I said, at the beginning I was blown away by the power, but at the end of the year you think you could do with a lot more. You need all your strength to keep your hands on the handle bars, but that power makes you feel so good. It’s definitely a lot of fun too. If I enjoy myself I go faster. I think that goes for all of us.”

– The number of crashes in 2010 “There were too many... but they all happened in the first half of the season. At the first race in Qatar, Barbera pushed me to the outside at the start of the race. After that I got into a rhythm and in the last lap I caught Simoncelli. My idea was to pass him on the straight, but maybe I braked a little bit too late. Just a little...

I crashed trying to finish in better position, and that is not a bad reason to crash. In Le Mans I high-sided during practice. In the past high-sides happened when riders opened the gas, but this year the problem was that you could high-side closing the gas and lose rear grip in the process. That is difficult. If you crash getting on the gas too soon you know you have to be more careful next time. But if you crash while rolling off the throttle, without doing anything, that plays tricks with your mind. At the Sachsenring we were in a big group and exiting a corner, and I saw the group spread out. All of a sudden I saw De Puniet’s bike in the middle of the track and I could not do anything.”
21 – The number of leather outfits
REV’IT! made for him in 2010 “The only thing that is typical Alvaro Bautista on my outfit is my number! But I did design my very own gloves. If I compare my 2002 suit to the REV’IT! outfit I wear now, there’s a big difference. The leather is softer and a lot more comfortable, with more protection in the shoulders and elbows. The more protection, the better. But protection may limit your movement on the bike, which makes it more complicated. This year we did not need many modifications. From the first time I put on my leathers they felt right.”

Barcelona “Honestly, my feeling with a MotoGP bike is that I get the same speeds as on a 250. You can feel the difference coming out of a corner, as the MotoGP Suzuki accelerates a lot faster than a 250. But when you’re on the straight, full throttle in sixth gear, you don’t feel that you’re doing 327.2 km’s. You just think, ‘I wish this thing would go faster.’ Sincerely, the top speeds never impressed me this year. At my first test in Sepang, maybe it was the wind that took me by surprise, when it pushed me back getting on the brakes at the end of the straight. But that was it, really.”

– Overall position in 2010 “Changing categories is always tough, even more so when you switch to MotoGP. We only had three winter tests and as a rookie that is not enough. I was tenth in my second race: a good result. After that I broke my collar bone in France during practice. I’m fitter now than I have ever been, but after that crash obviously I was
not 100 percent. In 250 you can ride if you’re not physically fit, but in MotoGP it’s different, because of the weight and the power of the bike. From Barcelona [where Alvaro finished fifth] onward, things started to get better, but I also had some bad luck. At the Sachsenring I crashed into De Puniet’s bike, and at Laguna Seca Espargaro took me out. The last couple of races we were consistent, and if I had not been injured, I could have finished better than 13th overall. Still, I learned a lot and have more to learn, especially about electronics. It is very important to understand how the electronics can make you go faster. In 250 I used my right hand to control the throttle; on the Suzuki MotoGP bike, the electronics take care of that. It is difficult to get used to that. You know, when the bike starts to slide, you automatically close the throttle. That’s the way I learned to ride. But on this bike it is easier to open up more and keep control. If you roll off the gas, open it and close it again, the bike just gets too nervous and difficult to ride.”
120 – Days away from home
during a Grand Prix season “I like to travel and see new countries. I especially like Malaysia and Australia. You know, I have two lives. At home with family, friends, and my girlfriend, I forget all about racing. At the track it’s the other way round. I concentrate on my job. When I come home I update my website and sometimes do a video blog about the race. I’m also on Twitter. I like it when people follow me. Then they know what I do for training and what I thought about the last race.”

MotoGP “I think it is positive that I’m the only Suzuki rider next year. The bike will be made especially for me, according to my specifications. Before, it was 50-50 for Loris [Capirossi] and me. There’s also a negative side to it, of course. I have to test every new part myself now. Still, I’m happy and I hope to improve over 2010. At the last test in Valencia, we found some good things. Ladies only. for women, by women An interview with Inge Dumoulin and Hella Nijman
REV’IT! is well known in the marketplace for its innovative and stylish ladies’ motorcycle apparel. But here’s something you might not have known: not only is this apparel made specifically for women, it is actually designed and developed by women. After all, who could know better how clothes should fit the female body? REVzine sat down with Inge Dumoulin and Hella Nijman, who work in product design and development at REV’IT! to learn about their process for crafting superior garments for ladies who ride.
REVZINE > REV’IT! is well known for its ladies’ line of apparel. How did REV’IT! decide to make this area a focus? Inge Dumoulin: We are responding to a growing demand from the market. For a long time now, women have not been satisfied just to sit on the back of a bike; they themselves want to ride. The modern female motorcyclist is independent and in control, and needs apparel that look as if they were custom-made for her. Hella Nijman: Right. Ladies’ gear used to be cut exactly the same as the men’s, and simply scaled to smaller sizes. But female riders need gear designed specifically with the female body in mind – not only to ensure that the garments are optimally safe and protective, but also that they are stylish. Women want a fitted, feminine shape that is both sleek and functional. REVZINE >So, with these concerns in mind, how do you approach the creation of a new women’s collection? HN: We always begin with a thorough analysis: what does the modern, serious female motorcyclist require? Then, armed with this information, we set out to design and develop products that we think she will respond to, and to improve upon past designs.

ID: Women reading this interview will recognize this: you put on all your layers and it looks as if you’ve gained two sizes. We take exactly this into consideration when designing a new product. So for the new 2011 collection, we have made fit a central focus. We have completely reviewed the fit of all female REV’IT! products, and have compared the size charts of all ladies’ jackets, analyzed them, and made them into one improved size chart. Our new products will therefore fit the female body even better, clearly recognizable by the ‘Female Fit’ label.
REVZINE > During the actual design process, how do these concerns about fit impact the overall style of the garment? ID: With our Engineered skin® design technology, we can make a more comfortable product, because it flexes better with the body. Stretch material is placed in parts where more flexibility is needed, such as the waist or hips. The garments’ lines are also placed strategically, allowing our female customers to cut a slim, feminine silhouette, but also display that they are serious riders, who are investing in quality gear.
HN: It is a real challenge to make the stretch not only functional, but also integrated beautifully into the design. Once we perfect this integration of fit and design, then we have a coherent garment that stands as one beautiful piece. REVZINE > Walk us through your design process for the 2011 ladies’ collection, please. What were the steps? HN: Well, first there was the sketching phase. Each collection is still designed by hand. We use a woman’s figure as a base, so that we can make the optimally slimming and feminine shape. For this collection we designed the gear in sets, so the seams of the design run through from the jacket into the trousers, keeping the lines clean. This way you can wear a perfectly matching pair of trousers with your jacket. ID: This year we have also made a completely new knee construction for all ladies’ trousers. We wanted a perfect fit that could offer the best protection possible for women’s knees – not simply a smaller scale of the men’s knee protector. We made the patterns for these ourselves, and we are very happy with the result. We use specific Ladies’ protection, not only because it is much safer, thanks to a more secure fit, but also because it is much more elegant due to its narrowness. REVZINE > You’ve brought up another important design component: the materials. How does designing a women’s collection differ in this regard from designing men’s apparel?

ID: To fight the cold, you need more than just a high-quality, warm jacket. It is also very important to wear the right base layers. We have designed these layers as well specifically for women, with a slim fit, and without irritating seams. REVZINE > You have mentioned being very tuned in to your female customers and what they want. How do you stay in touch with your customer base? HN: After we receive garment samples from our manufacturers, we have several women test our products, so we can judge the fit, comfort, and design straight away. In addition to that, we ask our existing female customers what they think, especially during consumer shows. REVZINE > So what can REV’IT!’s female customers look forward to next? ID: We are always striving to bring the best products to our customers at REV’IT!, so we will be bringing this spirit of continual improvement to the next collections. REV’IT! is excited for what the future holds. Just keep watching us ladies!
ID: Women are generally more sensitive, physically, than men. We take this into consideration by using softer Ladies’ protection, softer leather, and stretch materials where normally a seam would be placed. We are using a renewed stretch material that stretches better. But while the materials are softer in feel and look, they are just as strong and resistant to abrasion. We make zero concessions in the protection of our materials. HN: We also took a closer look at the thermal liners in our women’s jackets. It is obvious that women are more likely to feel cold than men are, so we added a thicker lining. This lining fits extremely well, which not only makes for better comfort, but also leaves less space for the wind to come in. This serves the dual

Product maintenance Technical products require special care…
When an outer shell is exposed repeatedly to various weather conditions, its original water-repellent coating will begin to wear off. Over time, the outer fabric absorbs more and more water. As the soaked outer shell sticks to the membrane, the garment’s breathability is compromised. Water vapor becomes trapped inside the jacket – resulting in a damp feel, even if there are no actual leaks in the jacket itself. If this happens, it’s time to restore water repellency by washing your garment and re-proofing it. Unfortunately there is no such thing as one set of instructions for maintaining your textile motorcycle garments in perfect shape. The many high-tech fabrics and materials used in today’s safety apparel require careful handling. Depending on the fabric, the same treatment can either restore a garment’s functionality or destroy it. Hand wash or machine wash? In general we advise you to wash all textile garments by hand, using specific REV’IT! TEXTILE WASH. Before washing, remove the inner liners and armor. Always rinse and dry carefully. Never dry your garments and gloves on the radiator or close to heat sources. Use REV’IT! WATERPROOF TEXSPRAY afterwards, to

restore the water repellency of the outer shell. Clothing equipped with GORE-TEX® membrane technology, however, can be washed in the washing machine. It should also be dried in a dryer, as the heat actually helps to restore the waterproofing of the membrane. The most important thing to remember, whether you wash by hand or machine, is: never use fabric softeners. They destroy the functionality of the membrane. Where to find Wash & Care Instructions We recommend that you follow closely the wash & care instructions in every REV’IT! product on the market. This way, you can be sure your favorite piece of apparel stays in perfect condition, in all weather conditions.

Collection Spring-Summer 2011 When we launched our Fall-Winter 2010 collection, the market responded with enthusiasm to the new range of products, which featured GORE-TEX® and Windstopper® technology for the serious touring and adventure rider. Based on this success, we have incorporated the same technology into our Spring-Summer 2011 collection, but with a distinctive style, attention to detail, and functionality specifically for the warmer months.
This close partnership with GORE-TEX® has pushed us at REV’IT! to raise the bar further and develop products with an even higher quality standard than before. Our constant drive to improve upon the functional performance of our products is evident in the new Spring-Summer 2011 collection. Ventilation Our climate is changing. Winters are getting colder and summers are getting warmer. REV’IT! is also selling more and more products to countries where the sun is always shining. All in all, we have noticed a serious increase in the demand for versatile, ventilated summer products. As a result, almost every newly developed style in our Spring-Summer collection features improved ventilation properties. From the sportive Tarmac series to the fashionable Ace jacket, the REV’IT! design team has developed no fewer than 10 new styles that have ventilation as a key feature. Focus on women We are also distinguishing ourselves through a focus on women’s gear. Women’s gear has always been a smaller segment of the market, but we at REV’IT! believe it’s high time this changed. There are many serious enthusiasts among female riders, but they have different requirements for gear than most male riders. Our goal for the Spring-Summer collection was to develop some serious technical products, specifically designed and developed by and for women, and equipped with womanspecific functionalities. We improved upon fitting shape by using more stretch panels, while Prolife ladies’ armor was included as a standard in every

style. Plus, we have paid extra attention to the development of better insulation for the female body. Already well-regarded in many markets as a category leader in serious touring and adventure jackets, we are now introducing the Ventura ladies’ style, to reinforce REV’IT!’s claim in this segment of the market. Race oriented products Having our sponsored riders Alvaro Bautista and Randy de Puniet in Moto GP, we are represented and fiercely competing on the highest level of international road racing. As we slowly become a more visible player in the sports scene, REV’IT!’s brand credibility increases – resulting in a growing demand for more race-oriented products. After a full racing season, it is clear that our Victory suit, worn by Randy de Puniet, has set a new standard in terms of movement, control, and flexibility. As a result, are continuing this line of development, which has been the primary source of inspiration for the Tarmac series. Other features derived from the MotoGP experience, such as the speed hump that has room for a water reservoir, are now being incorporated into our products. We already knew from the feedback of our sponsored riders that the Jerez glove worked perfectly for all of them – but we were extremely proud when the Jerez won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award, an internationally recognized prize for superior design and product development. In our view the Jerez glove is the perfect example of how we see the development of all future REV’IT! products. VCS | speedhump hydrabag prepared REV’IT! has taken its ventilated speed hump and improved it even further, with a new design that allows riders to put a hydra bag inside it. The REV’IT! ventilated speed hump has an air inlet at the top of the hump, and the perforated foam inside this leather speed hump is designed to let air flow through the garment, spreading over the rider’s back for comfortable ventilation. Extra cooling of the area is especially beneficial now that riders are wearing back protectors more and more – and now, with a hydra bag inside, riders can keep hydrated during races and rides.

Push the limit When you’re pushing your limits at the race track, you need a leather suit with protection you can rely on. The REV’IT! TT one-piece is based on the fully customized suit that Honda LCR MotoGP rider Randy de Puniet wore during the 2008 season. This was the first REV’IT! suit that featured the newly developed elbow sliders, in addition to the 3D honeycomb shoulder parts. The slightly less pre-shaped TT jacket is derived from the TT one-piece suit, and made of the same A-grade cowhide, but with a fixed liner. Since both jacket as well as the suit are still in popular demand, we didn’t dare to take it out of the collection!

The best of both worlds Most summer riders prefer leathers to textiles – not only because leather is stronger than textile and thus safer, but also because of its comfortable feeling on the skin. The downside is that leather doesn’t ventilate well unless it’s fully perforated. Extensive perforation isn’t safe, however, because it compromises the protective properties of the leather (unless, of course, you use the laser-perforation technique – see VICTORY suit). So we’ve come up with a solution for spring, summer and fall: the PHOENIX jacket. Designed as a summer sports leather jacket, it offers a sportive fitting shape, along with 3D-Prolife CE armor. The jacket is equipped with a removable 3-layer membrane that offers 100% water and wind protection. Both the front and back panels are constructed of the strongest mesh material available on the market, so when the liner is removed, you’re left with a fully ventilated outer shell. The best trousers to match the PHOENIX jacket are the GEAR trousers, or the non-vented AURORA trousers. The Apollo project Every now and then, the REV’IT! design department comes up with a signature line that is so strong it can carry a whole range of products, from suits to jackets, from gloves to trousers. This means that they often have a more relaxed fitting shape, suited for an upright sitting position. Not the RAPTOR. The RAPTOR textile jacket and trousers are designed for the sport and tour sport rider who prefers the weather protection features of textile over the comfort and safety of leathers. This uncompromising, top-level design and pre-shaped sportive fit are especially great for commuting on a sportive bike at relatively high speed, when a snug fit is vital for keeping the suit waterproof – plus, the jacket and trousers can be easily zipped together, with the 360 degree round zipper. The RAPTOR set is also fully equipped with CE armor by Prolife and has removable thermo liners for warmer days. All-weather protection wrapped in casual simplicity The Tribeca GTX jacket has been developed for the experienced urban rider, who knows that – for real comfort and allweather protection – you need to pay just a little bit more. 100% waterproofing is guaranteed with GORE-TEX® Performance Shell technology. The waterproof and windproof membrane of the Tribeca GTX jacket floats freely between a comfortable, functional, and fashionable outer shell and a moisture-managing inner lining, in an optimal construction for the urban rider. The jacket has a wide fitting shape, which enables the rider to wear it comfortably over a business suit and arrive at the office no worse for the wear. It also features a removable, thermallined collar, which you can easily take off during spring and summer, as well as a removable, thermal-lined body warmer. The Tribeca GTX also has plenty of storage room on the inside and outside, with two front pockets that are 100% waterproof. Help your gear help you The most underestimated form of protection while riding is the passive protection you get from comfort inside your gear. When you’re uncomfortable on your bike, you lose focus, making accidents more likely to happen. So if you want your technical outer shell to perform to its potential, all layers must contribute for the optimal protection: from your skin up. REV’IT! mid layers are worn directly over a base layer and are constructed in various ways, according to the primary functionality you wish to achieve: wind blocking, insulation, or a combination of the both. When insulation is the primary and only desired function for a mid layer, it is often made of fleece, a synthetic material that maintains its capacity to insulate even when wet, and which dries very quickly to prevent heat loss through soaking. When keeping cold air out is the primary functionality, REV’IT! most often applies only WINDSTOPPER® Softshell material, which is so comfortable, it could even be worn on bare skin. Climate control for the body The Mid Layer helps the body regulate its temperatures, by trapping body heat between the skin and the mid layer. This acts as a climate control – cooling the body when it is too hot and insulating when it is too cold. Mid layer products comprise three separate layers: an insulating fleece lining, a windproof and breathable membrane, and a comfortable outer shell.
