CHANGING THE GAME These days, boundaries of segments are regularly crossed and broken; changing the game for good. More motorcycles are being created for multiple purposes, instead of being built for one specific endeavor. That’s exactly what we want to achieve with our new Spring Summer 2017 collection. It’s meant for you to look good, wherever you go and whatever you ride. We drew inspiration from urban sportswear and then integrated our REV’IT! technology and safety. Furthermore, we listened to our riders —from MotoGP to adventurers— and present our most versatile collection to date. Our collection is not the only thing that is game changing. So was our photoshoot. We sent passioned REV’IT! riders on a four-day trip to capture them in their natural habitat. Real people in real situations meant that even our photographers had to get down and dirty. The result is the most authentic set of photos we have ever had.
Thank you for riding with us. Team REV’IT!

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY IN THE CONTINUOUS SEARCH TO IMPROVE TECHNIQUES AND MATERIALS, OVER THE YEARS, REV’IT! HAS LED THE FIELD IN DEVELOPING SMART AND INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS.
ENGINEERED SKIN® Design method Inspired by the natural qualities of the skin, REV’IT! has developed the unique Engineered skin® design method to improve the fit and performance of motorcycle safety apparel. The result is an ergonomic, pre-shaped product that is capable of handling extreme pressure and offers the best balance of protection and comfort. REV’IT! began developing its Engineered skin® design method back in 2001, when it set out to improve the functional performance of materials by relocating seams outside and away from high-impact zones. This innovative concept further evolved with advances in 3D design, new patterns and construction techniques. Today, the principles of Engineered skin® can be found in almost every item REV’IT! develops. This indicates our commitment to safety, quality, and design. Engineered skin® has already made a significant mark on the motorcycle apparel industry, and this dynamic design philosophy will continue to influence future REV’IT! product development for years to come. Always evolving, always improving - Engineered skin® is part of our DNA.

TAILORED TECHNOLOGY
Design methodology
The Tailored Technology philosophy combines our years of experience and deep-rooted technical knowledge with our abiding love for fashion and design. The Tailored Technology concept incorporates essential road protection and functional details into REV’IT!’s stylish and elegant urban collection. All REV’IT! products are designed following the Engineered skin® philosophy that consists of three core principles: safety, functionality, design. The urban collection, however, is created according to the Tailored Technology design credo, which uses the same REV’IT! core principles, albeit with a different priority; one that puts design first, followed by safety and functionality. All three principals are equally important in both philosophies; only the sequence in which they are applied and the vision per design differs. Products with the Tailored Technology label are designed to integrate into daily life, combining just the right amount of fashionable detailing with cleverly disguised safety and functional features. These products provide both safety and comfort without sacrificing style. The result is a truly unique range of motorcycle apparel that is as sophisticated and stylish as it is functional and safe.

REV’IT! SEESOFT™
Specifically developed for use in urban motorcycle gear, SEESMART™ limb protection offers the highest level of flexibility while passing the EN16211:2012 CE-Level 1 impact tests, also in hot conditions (T+) (+40 degrees Celcius / 104 degrees Fahrenheit). The Seesmart RV34 ridged version that is used in our leather jackets even passes the EN1621-1:2012 CE-Level 1 impact tests in (T+) and cold (T-) (-10 degrees Celcius / 14 degrees Fahrenheit) conditions.
REV’IT! engineered the SEESOFT™ back protector insert with the aim to create a low profile, flexible and breathable back protector with the highest, CE-Level 2 certification. The result is a non-distracting, pliable mechanism that can absorb multiple impacts without compromising comfort, ventilation and freedom of movement.

TAILORED TECHNOLOGY COLLECTION Heritage innovation
THESE DAYS, FEWER BIKES ARE BEING BUILT FOR ONE SPECIFIC ENDEAVOR. RATHER, THEY ARE BUILT TO SERVE MULTIPLE PURPOSES. The same philosophy applies to our new Heritage Innovation Collection: it’s not definitively meant for commuting, traveling or racing. It’s meant for you to do whatever you like.
MODERN CLASSICS
INVISIBLE PROTECTION
These jackets are based on archetypes: there’s always one to fit your style. We draw inspiration from iconic pieces worn throughout the decades, whether that’s the 1940s or even the 90s.
Because we think you shouldn’t sacrifice your style for safety, we incorporated our invisible protection layer into our classic pieces. Our in-house developed SEESMART™ protectors are present in all of our new leather jackets, overshirts and jeans. Because they’re so incredibly thin and flexible, you’ll experience maximum comfort, as well as protection.
We start by choosing the leather: from vegetable tanned buffalo leather and drum dyed aniline cowhide and goatskin, to two tone buffalo leather and rugged full grown buffalo leather.

TWO TONE BUFFALO LEATHER The two tone buffalo leather used for this jacket has received a dying and waxing treatment during tumbling. This treatment permits the color to seep in, allowing the wax to give the leather its natural shine.

THERE IS MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE The toe, heel and ankle areas have been reinforced for safety. These reinforced locations protect riders’ feet and contribute to better foot position without sacrificing comfort. The shoes have been fashioned from the finest leather, making them tough yet comfortable. Additionally, the materials used are highly abrasion-resistant and durable, yet naturally adaptable to various conditions.
Shoes with laces have gusseted tongues to keep out wind, water and dirt. Shoes with zippers have a v-flap behind the zipper for the same purpose. The leather won’t mar when you shift gears as the shoes are equipped either with a gearshift pad or come with a shifter strap.

REINVENTING ADVENTURE
THROUGHOUT THE GENERATIONS, ADVENTURE ATTIRE HAS HAD A REPUTATION OF BEING HIGHLY FUNCTIONAL, YET VISUALLY BUSY. We wanted to take that stigma out of this genre and create pieces that draw the eyes in, but still stay true to its purposeful roots.
Our new adventure products are functional, look pure and still retain the explorative spirit. That’s because we really focused on color, texture and materials. The result is gear that not only looks polished, but feels rich as well.
ADVENTURE PERFORMANCE WEAR We added functionality to all the different aspects of the gear. Furthermore, the design is toned down, visually rich but cost effective.
030 |
REVZINE #14 | Spring Summer 2017 | Changing the game
COLOR CROSSOVERS From color blocking and complementary accents, to a more fashion-forward approach, our new designs take on a more monochromatic approach, but with a bit of added flair. The outcome is a purer look that still retains its go-anywhere personality.

SAND® URBAN
The ultimate crossover HYDRATEX® MEMBRANE
THIS YEAR, WE DECIDED TO MIX URBAN AND ADVENTURE INTO OUR SAND® DESIGN. IT RESULTED IN SOMETHING COMPLETELY NEW IN THE MOTORCYCLE INDUSTRY: THE SAND® URBAN. It’s a cross between highly functional adventure gear and the polished pieces from our Tailored Technology collection; thus opening an entirely new segment of riding attire.
A DIFFERENT TYPE OF CAMOUFLAGE VENTILATION ZIPPERS
032 |
By balancing form and functionality, we created a crossover jacket that is perfect for outdoor adventure riding but also for moving through the urban environment. The tone-on-tone design, combined with the black details featured on the adjustment straps and zippers give the Sand® Urban its air of utility without calling too much attention to it.
REVZINE #14 | Spring Summer 2017 | Changing the game
A BALANCED MIX The installed SEEFLEX™ protectors give riders the highest level of protection, while the soft and open structure offers comfort and ventilation in any environment. The Sand® Urban shares the functionality of the adventureoriented Sand® 3. This means the three-layer construction allows for riding in conditions that vary from hot to cold.

REVOLUTIONIZING RACE DESIGN Stand out on the track and on the streets
COUNTLESS POLE POSITIONS, FASTEST LAPS, RACE WINS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS HAVE GONE BY EVER SINCE OUR FIRST LEATHER SUIT CAME OUT. AND WE HAVE LEARNED A LOT FROM IT, FROM PROTECTION TO DESIGN AND BEYOND. Now it’s time to take our next step so you can show your personality, wherever you ride, whenever you ride.
MOTOGP INSPIRED
UNMATCHED EMBOSSING
Our new race gear is inspired by our REV’IT! Racers: by their crashes and by their design wishes. With input from the absolute best racers, we have improved our racing suits in terms of protection, fit, look and feel.
An all-new embossing technique allows us to create a look that has never been seen before. It enables you to stand out, whether you’re riding on the track or on the streets. It also allows you to show your personality through your gear, while staying protected and safe.
SPORTIVE TECHNOLOGY We started looking at urban sports clothing and workout gear and we drew inspiration from those genres. We then mixed it with our innovative technology and inserted our smart protection. The result yields more stylistic and graphic elements, combined with a beautiful packaging of our safety construction. We cleverly relocated our seams by millimeters, so our suits are even stronger when you happen to get off your bike unexpectedly.
For the Spitfire, we have developed a very special motorcycle industry-first type of leather: heavily embossed Monaco Cowhide. The embossing adds structure to the leather, giving it a unique appearance that could have never been achieved by using different colors or finishes.

FOL025 - SPITFIRE ONE PIECE SUIT 1600 / Black-White 3200 / White-Red 4120 / Silver-Neon Yellow
PREPARED AND PROTECTED Inside the race suit, you will find CE-rated protection at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, creating a full set of up-to-spec armor. Optionally you can include our SEESOFT™ CE-level 2 back protector insert, or choose a separate back protector. In our Spitfire suit, you will find this armor working in a cohesive way with our dual-comp protectors. The same technology is found and used in our MotoGP gear. These dual comp protectors remove a majority of impact energy before it even reaches the integrated protectors and their aluminum outer body ensures a controlled slide across the asphalt in case of an unfortunate mishap.
FGS123 - SPITFIRE GLOVES 1600 / Black-White 3050 / White-Black
COMPLEMENT WITH THE PERFECT GLOVES The balanced combination of cowhide and goatskin creates the right blend of comfort and performance, which allows you to intuitively operate your motorcycle knowing you are protected. Your knuckles stay safe thanks to the ventilated dual-comp protectors, similar to the protector incorporated at the cuff. You will find TPU hard shell protectors at the palm and the knuckles of the fingers.

Track inspired streetwear
BRING YOUR ENTHUSIASM FOR RACING TO THE STREET WITH THE REV’IT! SPITFIRE JACKET. This leather, track-inspired garment offers you the look and feel of what the pros are wearing with cleverly incorporated features for street use.
The unique embossing technique on the leather panels comes straight from our Spitfire racing suit, just like the dual comp MotoGP-developed protectors at the shoulders and elbows. Impact is dealt with via our award winning SEEFLEX™ CE-level 2 protectors at the shoulders and elbows. You can further upgrade the Spitfire by installing our SEESOFT™ CE-level 2 back protector. Use the short connection zipper to attach the jacket to REV’IT!’s jeans via our Safeway belt. Early morning chill is easily warded off with the thermal body warmer. When the warmer is removed, it allows air to flow through the partially perforated outer shell.

BLAKE & BLAKE AIR
Integrated urban technology
BRINGING CASUAL SPORTS TO THE STREETS With the Blake and Blake Air, we introduce yet another motorcycle clothing segment that speaks to the demands of many riders who don’t mind showing off their biking tendencies as long as they can combine them with practical use.
FEATURES The Blake is ideal for summer riding, and hints towards use in spring and autumn. The Blake Air, however, is all about summer and warm weather riding and lives up to its name through the use of 3D Air mesh. This allows air to flow right through, making it perfect for hot days.
PROTECTION In the most important impact areas, both the Blake and the Blake Air jacket have been constructed with top-quality, highly abrasion-resistant Monaco Performance Cowhide leather, as seen in our racing products. Other areas of the Blake are reinforced with our strong PWR | shell material to create a balanced combination of leather and textile. The jackets are constructed with safety stitching and safety seams, meaning they can withstand proper use and abuse beyond what their purposeful look may declare.

I’ve been working up the courage to try this all morning. But now it’s finally time to forget my instincts and see what happens when I hold a slide around a corner and then whack the throttle open. On a normal big enduro, that’s an easy way to turn a slide into a lowside. But this is no normal enduro. This enormous fuel-tank-on-wheels is the REV’IT! #95, and it comes complete with a two-wheel drive system. As it turns out, 2WD is a hell of a drug. REV’IT! #95 started as a KTM 950 Super Enduro Erzberg Edition. Thanks to the handiwork of Gregor Halenda, Chris Cosentino, Scott Kolb and REV’IT!’s very own design team it’s now a one-of-a-kind motorcycle. The 45-litre (12-gallon) aluminum fuel tank steals the show when you’re off the bike, while the modified Christini all-wheel drive kit is the star when you’re riding. Keihin 41mm FCR carbs and a lovely custom stainless steel exhaust round out the mechanical package.
068 |
REVZINE #14 | Spring Summer 2017 | Changing the game
Despite the giant tank and the 2WD system, the #95 weighs 6.8 kg (15 lbs.) less than a stock 950 Super Enduro. On pavement, the upright riding position and wide bars yield excellent control and it feels like a big supermoto. But let’s be real. When you get a two-wheel drive motorcycle with KTM underpinnings, you don’t want to stay on pavement. And that’s why I found myself in Rowher Flats OHV situated outside of Los Angeles, California, wondering if I was about to drop this bike due to an over-eager right hand. With 100 horsepower on tap, breaking the rear loose on dirt is easy. The question is what you do with it afterwards. Ignoring common sense, I keep twisting the throttle and the rear end slides further out. That’s when the magic happens – the front wheel starts pulling you forward, bringing the rear wheel back in line. The more power you put down, the harder the front wheel pulls. So even my ham-fisted self can hold a slide. I feel like a riding god. The helmet can barely contain my smile, and the only thing louder than my laughter is the thunderous exhaust. I haven’t had this much fun on a big dual-sport in a long time.
Because the drive system is atypical, there’s a learning curve. If you hit a whoop with the front wheel under power, and you’re not straight on, guess what? The bike now takes off in whatever direction your front wheel is pointing. You can turn two-wheel drive off with a lever on the handlebars if you want the tail-happy behavior that you’re used to, but 2WD has more to offer than the gift of idiot-proof sliding. Conquering sand and mud is a cinch, plus you can easily steer in the soft stuff. What’s truly impressive is its climbing ability. You no longer need momentum! Just sit at the bottom of the hill and pin the throttle. Once the rear wheel starts spinning 30% faster than the front, both wheels push and pull you up. No fishtailing, no drama - just effortless ascent. I ride motorcycles because they’re fun and they make me smile. The REV’IT! #95 marries these two principles perfectly. It’s comfortable, it’s fast, and the exhaust note is biblical. Whether it’s on or off-road, riding this bike makes me feel special. Now if only I could keep it…

COMING SOON… THE REVMONKEE BIKE REV’IT! TEAMED UP WITH THE GUYS AT THE HEART OF THE SCANDINAVIAN CUSTOM MOTORCYCLE SCENE: THE WRENCHMONKEES. The REVmonkee project fits the REV’IT! design philosophy perfectly: taking a beautiful foundation and complementing it with the best technology there is.
The Wrenchmonkees told us that every bike has the potential to become something cool. So we got a Kawasaki H2 and handed it over to the two Danish bike builders so they can work their magic on it. They are crazy busy working on this custom creation and it’s more or less in parts. But the fairing is positioned and mounted, and the bodywork clay modeling is finished. We just can’t wait to share our project with you. Stay tuned for more…

ABOUT THE WRENCHMONKEES
Two bike enthusiasts founded “Wrenchmonkees” in 2008 in a basement in Copenhagen. Because they like to build bikes. And they could. Both Nicholas Bech and Per Nilsen couldn’t imagine on that momentous day, one of their bikes would end up in a café in Dubai. But it did and their company evolved quickly and now they have fans all over the world.

Only 25 of the deemed “Gentleman’s Racer” will be built. Its starting price? A healthy €150.000.
BUILDING THE ULTIMATE DUTCH BROTHERS ROLF AND SJORS VAN DER HEIDE BRING TO LIFE A BIKE FROM OUR FANTASIES. The bike has an all carbon fiber monocoque construction and a first-of-its-kind suspension.
THE DREAM “Our dream was to create our own motorcycle,” explains 30 year-old Rolf van der Heide, the engineering brains behind the new project. He adds, “We enjoy riding motorcycles, we love pioneering, thinking outside-of-the-box, and we saw plenty of opportunities to improve upon existing technologies.” Rolf had been involved with various forward-thinking companies before, including Dutch supercar brand Spyker, as well as unique car brand Carver. “I felt inspired by the way these companies consistently stepped out of their comfort zones to ensure innovation,” Rolf mentions. “I was also fascinated by the endless possibilities of carbon fiber composites and love thinking outside of the box.”
THE BIKE Power for the Gentleman’s Racer comes from Aprilia’s RSV4 engine: a 1000cc, V4 producing 201hp with an optional upgrade to 230+ hp. It comes with 17-inch, 5-spoke carbon fiber BlackStone Tec (BST) Black Star wheels, and the exhaust is an ultra thin, stainless steel HP Corse Pro Series Hydroform. Top speed is said to be in excess of 300+ kph (186 mph). And thanks to the all carbon fiber construction, the dry weight of the street legal version is just 175 kg (386 lbs.). The race version is said to weigh a mere 165 kg (364 lbs.), with an impressive fuel capacity of 24 liters (6.3 gallons). One of the technical masterpieces of the bike includes two Öhlins TTX 36 shock absorbers positioned in line, but opposed in their direction of operation. It’s a type of suspension common in racecars, and has now, for the first time, thanks to the Van der Heide brothers, been introduced to a two-wheeled machine.
The result is the first motorcycle to feature an all carbon fiber monocoque chassis, carbon fiber swingarm, and carbon fiber front end. Not to mention every piece of carbon fiber is engineered and hand-built by Rolf himself.
Van der Heide Bike | Game-changing Bikes |
073
THE PROCESS “The carbon fiber itself is all laid by hand,” explains Rolf. “We use the same dry fiber as Pagani uses for its Huayra supercar. On such large, double-curved surfaces like the monocoque, it is very complicated to maintain the beautiful structure of the dry fiber. This takes a lot of patience and craftsmanship.” He continues, “We add resin by vacuum injection and have built our own oven to cure the fiber. We use data loggers to keep track of temperature, pressure, humidity, etc. We do everything ourselves, in our own workshop. The only things we have outsourced are the manufacturing of the molds, and the manufacturing of the metal parts (e.g. the foot pegs).”
REV’IT! is currently teaming up with the Van der Heide brothers to produce a tailor-made race suit in the same style as the bike: all black and cuttingedge. It even has a Carbitex carbon fiber speed hump to match the bike perfectly. Make sure you stay tuned to see the result...

GEARED UP TO MAKE HISTORY AUGUST 14, 2016- FOR MOST, IT’S PROBABLY JUST ANOTHER SUNDAY. BUT NOT FOR A TEAM OF INDIVIDUALS FROM THE EINDHOVEN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE NETHERLANDS. It’s a day they’ve been working towards for the better part of two years.
STORM Bike | Game-changing Bikes |
077
THE LABOR OF LOVE ABOUT TO BE EXECUTED HASN’T BEEN DONE IN THIS CAPACITY BEFORE. A TEAM OF OVER 20 PEOPLE WORKED TOGETHER ON THE STORM PROJECT; A PROJECT THAT WOULD LAUNCH THE WORLD’S FIRST ELECTRIC TOURING MOTORCYCLE ON AN 80-DAY WORLD TOUR. While the concept of circumnavigating the globe on a bike isn’t a new one, the idea of doing it on an all-electric motorcycle is. So where did the idea come from to create and execute such a plan? Yorick Heidema, one of the team members and one of five designated riders of the bike says, “The realization of STORM Wave –the motorcycle – and the STORM World Tour was really a collaboration. The Storm Team consisted of volunteers/experts that helped us out, our partners and professors from the university.”
The bike, in full touring mode, takes 24 Lithium-ion batteries, with a combined output of 28.5 kWh. It gives the motorcycles a range of 380 kilometres (236 miles) after charging. When empty, the energy cells can be switched out for charged units in just 7 minutes.
He also mentions that there is no one person that can be deemed the creator of the bike – which was built in-house. Rather it was a combined effort and it was a way to show what one can achieve with open innovation and collaboration.
Charging time to full capacity is eight hours, with an 80% ‘fastcharge’ time of just 38 minutes. The chassis is an in-house sheet aluminium design with a Hossack front suspension and double swingarm with custom shock absorbers. Total weight of the bike is 340 kilograms (750 lbs.).
Because of the team’s extensive planning, they were regularly able to enjoy the fruits of their labor worldwide; riding hours without glitches, meeting and greeting locals, educating people about electric technology, and even fixing/replacing parts on the fly. But there were a few instances that had the team scrambling to find solutions.
This meant they had to look at regulations concerning the transportation of lithium-batteries by air, which are quite strict. Fortunately, they anticipated these problems and had the know-how to overcome them.
Yorick recounts, “There were various moments where we were really getting worried and had to ask our partners to help us out. Worst of which was the moment when the inverter of the motorcycle broke down at the start of our tour. Luckily the team managed to pull through that, but that night was a terrible one.” He also mentions that the there was some anxiety around getting the bike through Chinese and US customs. Another challenge of traveling with an electric motorcycle in a fixed timeframe, was having to fly the motorcycle across stretches of water, rather than send it by boat.
078 |
Having to cover 23,000 kilometres (14,292 miles) in 80 days challenged the STORM team to create a motorcycle capable of not only holding great amounts of energy, but also allowing the rider to replenish this energy in a short period of time.
REVZINE #14 | Spring Summer 2017 | Changing the game
Hiccups and all, on November 2, 2016 their mission was accomplished. “Arriving back in Eindhoven gave a feeling of both great pride and achievement,” Yorick says. “After these 2 years, the team and our followers had experienced a lot and had become a large family in some way.” As for what comes next for the STORM team, that’s in the planning phase! They are considering the possibility of using this experience as a platform to promote electric mobility, which would mean setting up a new team and challenge. They’re also looking at putting the motorcycle into production, or at least parts of it. Stay tuned for their next adventures…

TAKING THE PLUNGE LATVIAN-BORN KATE AFANASYEVA HAS BEEN FASCINATED BY MOTORCYCLE RACING SINCE SHE WAS 12-YEARS-OLD. Her brother is the one to credit for that fascination, which has now become a huge part of her life. She is also one of the REV’IT! riders in our SS17 photoshoot. This is her story.
FAVORITE T-SHIRT When Kate was about 12, her brother started developing and interest in motorcycles. With them being very close, Kate was naturally drawn to his new hobby, as well. She says, “We would regularly go watch motorcycle racing together and were fascinated by the sport. When he took up racing, I couldn’t have been prouder. I had a t-shirt made with a photo of him dragging knee through a corner that said: ‘My brother is faster than your brother.’ I loved wearing that shirt around my High School!” KATE AFANASYEVA
Kate adds, “Spending weekends at racetracks with him and being surrounded by motorcycles was satisfying enough. Never did I think that at some point in my life I’d be dragging knee through those same corners, too. ”
Kate Afanasyeva | Game-changing People |
083
THE COOL FACTOR
FROM HOBBY TO JOB
Kate learned to ride on her brother’s Kawasaki KX125 and remembers that the bike was a little too tall for her. She recounts, “I was nowhere near being able to reach the ground and I broke so many levers that our buddy would carry spare parts in his trunk when we’d ride to replace them on the go.” At the age of 15, Kate bought her own dirt bike, a Honda CRF 230, and rode it for years, though her parents were not completely supportive of her hobby.
Leaving a corporate job to work at a motorcycle gear dealer is not something Kate was expecting to do, but she couldn’t resist. She reflects, “My brother, Dennis Afanasyev, approached me about joining him at Beach Moto –a motorcycle gear dealer– but I was hesitant for a while. I had a steady corporate job at the time with a decent salary, so it was hard to make the decision to walk away from that. But I took the plunge. It was the best decision of my life.
She explains, “My parents were very against me riding, so I couldn’t get a road bike until I moved out of home. At 18, I got my motorcycle license and started learning to ride street. I was really concerned with the ‘cool factor’ of riding, so I refused to own a smaller displacement bike and rode liter bikes instead. I then took a break from riding for a couple of years and got back into it the ‘right’ way – on a more appropriate bike with an actual desire to properly learn how to ride. I got a small, 250cc café racer even though my heart belonged to sport bikes. After the café racer, I quickly traded that for a Kawasaki Ninja 300. I started taking a bunch of riding classes and going to the track and eventually worked my way up to the bike I ride now – a Honda CBR 600RR. Looking back, I really wish I had started riding on a smaller displacement bike. Being a stubborn teenager and wanting to prove myself on a motorcycle that was obviously way too much for me temporarily set me back from progressing as a rider. ”
I love meeting new people and the stories I get to hear. I’ve met riders who have traveled around the world, met current and former racers, motorcycle builders, actors and athletes. Knowing that we can enhance these people’s riding experience by providing them with some of the best riding gear is an exceptionally rewarding feeling. ”
WHERE THERE IS A WILL… “I’m very inspired by people who break through barriers to ride”, Kate says. “For example, when you walk through the pits at professional races, you see two types of racers – those with thousands of dollars in equipment and a 10-person pit crew, and the guy / gal out there with a van and a tool box and their dad or friend helping them tune their bike. Those are the types of riders that truly inspire me – the ones who prove that where there is a will, there is a way. Dennis Matson is an example of a person like that. Where most riders, myself included, complain about how uncomfortable it is to ride long distances on a sport bike, Dennis has traveled the world on a Ducati Panigale. Robert Dunlop is another big inspiration because of how far he was able to come as a racer after some severe injuries. ”
“Whether you want to tour around the world, race, ride dirt, or just ride in general – where there is a will, there is always a way. ”

26 SECONDS 400 KPH 2682 METERS BEYOND BELIEF IT TOOK WORLD SUPERSPORT CHAMPION, KENAN SOFUOGLU, AND HIS SUPERCHARGED KAWASAKI H2R JUST 26 SECONDS TO REACH A WORLD SPEED RECORD OF 400 KPH (249 MPH) ALONG THE 2,682 METER (8,799 FEET-LONG) OSMAN GAZI BRIDGE IN TURKEY. We asked him where the idea came from and to tell us about the experience.

THE CHALLENGE
FEAR
Originally, I had no intention to try and make a record with this bike. I’d asked Kawasaki how fast they thought it might go, and they had told me somewhere between 360-370 kph (224-230 mph). But riding the bike, I knew it could go faster. It became my goal to find out how fast it could go. I hoped maybe I could become the first person to reach its maximum speed.
I was very scared before the attempt. For me, it was more dangerous than racing. On a racetrack, you have wide-open places to run off if something goes wrong. On the bridge, you have no margin for error. It’s why after hitting the 400 kph (249 mph) barrier I decided there would be no more attempts. That would be it. During testing we had several attempts. The first run was clocked at 350 kph (218 mph), then 375 kph (233 mph), 381 kph (237 mph), 391 kph (243 mph), 396 kph (246 mph). Then finally, 400 kilometres per hour (249 mph). I knew then that I was done.
When you’re going for that speed, everything matters. To bridge the gap between 390 and 400 kph (242 -249 mph) is so difficult. Every kilogram or gram of unnecessary weight kills your speed. That’s why the REV’IT! suit was so important in being especially made for the record attempt. It was lighter and tighter than a regular race suit, all to make that last bit of difference.
THE BRIDGE For a place to make the record attempt, I called the Turkish President and told him about my project. We both agreed that the opening of the new Osman Gazi Bridge - the fourth longest expansion bridge in the world - was the perfect place and opportunity. The bridge had some incredible wind conditions to factor in. If it’s coming from either the left or the right, it is impossible and dangerous to make these speeds. Also if the wind is coming straight towards you, it is also very difficult to get the high speeds to break the record. After three days of waiting and preparation, we established that the best time to make an attempt was just as the sun was coming up in the morning. That’s usually when the wind was either neutral or coming from behind.
TRAINING The only training I did was finding the right tire. Beyond 350 kph (218 mph) a tire begins to overheat and can start to break down. Pirelli came up with a speciallyformulated compound for the tires that I used for the run. But this was my biggest concern about the record; the tire. I knew I wouldn’t have long at those sort of speeds before the rubber began to deteriorate. Other than that, the bike was stock, apart from small changes to the gearing and it running on a race-grade fuel; allowing the bike to make maximum power.
LOOKING BACK Millions of people watched the video on YouTube. It brought me more coverage than any of my racing. The event also made the bridge more famous, though I never expected it to be this huge. I’m also very proud to have done it for my country and for the young racers coming through. Turkey is one of the hardest places to get into motorsport. But it’s getting easier now. When I started there was no motorsport in Turkey. But if I can do it, then so can others.

REV’IT! AT THE TRACK AT REV’IT!, WE MADE OUR FIRST EVER LEATHER SUIT IN 1997, JUST TWO YEARS AFTER THE COMPANY WAS FOUNDED. SINCE THEN, WE’VE LEARNED THE IMPORTANCE THAT A LEATHER RACING SUIT CAN HAVE THROUGH THE SPONSORSHIP OF RIDERS. We started out in our country of origin; supporting riders in the Dutch National championships. And boy did we evolve since then.
OUR FIRST LEATHER SUIT AND WHAT HAPPENED NEXT The first ever leather REV’IT! suit was made in 1997. Immediately afterwards, the suit was well received by many motorcycle enthusiasts and track riders, praising it for its fit and –by the less unfortunate- for its protective features. Because it caught the eye of motorcyclists for its unique style, our suits soon became a fixed item in our dealers’ showrooms and on the European racetracks. Throughout the years, we have supported many riders globally. In return, they’ve provided us with invaluable insight on what a suit needs to cope with during the use and abuse from a racer. We’ve used this information to continuously develop our suits in many ways. And as the sport became more demanding on riders, we became more demanding on ourselves to take our products to the next level and keep delivering the best of the best.

STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE: THE START OF OUR MOTOGP PRESENCE To truly understand what a racing suit should be and feel like, you have to go racing. You will also have to take your racing endeavors to the highest level. This is what we did in 2008, by starting to work with a team of riders that we call our Heroes. Professional riders who look into every single detail in order to constantly improve their lap times, even if it is just by a thousandth of a second.
DANILO PETRUCCI MotoGP
Our first ever Hero was Randy De Puniet and he’s still part of our ambassadors. He was able to point out several points of improvement right from the get-go. Because of that information, we were able to translate that into the products sold through our dealers.
Since 2008, we have expanded our reach in professional motorcycle racing. Today we have a solid presence in many prestigious motorcycle world championships, such as MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3, World Superbike, and World Supersport. At the same time, we support many talents on the national level; helping them realize their ambitions to compete on the world stage. Not only does it enables us to continuously develop our products, it also gives us the possibility to show our love for the sport that is deeply rooted in our DNA: the love for motorsport.
