Story Of The Week

I

t was a rainy July day, and I returned home from school wet and shivering. I enjoyed the smell of hot pakodas boiling in the oil, well I had felt quite better after eating then. Later that evening I played cricket with my friends, and I had a huge argument with the opponent teams batsman because boiling after 3 overs I had finally made him out and he says that it was a no ball, well I didn't want get into much of fights, so I returned home and starred to chat with my friend and shares a strange fact with me that 22nd of July was a magical night that anything could happen!. Maybe he was just trying to joke with me, but

I didn't realize it until that night I had suddenly woken up from my sleep and strange uneven lights started to glow from the window beside me, and then some dark red and blue lights came out. And then I thought that maybe what my friend had said to me was right. Aliens had invaded us and the red and blue lights were of spider man who wanted to save us from them. That time I did not have that much courage to open the window and see out, I some how managed to sleep in that fear . The next morning when I went out to tell about the incident to my friend, there was a shed kept and a coffin in the middle containing a dead body .My friend was crying, I went near him and asked him the reason why he was crying and he said "My grandfather died" I was shocked and I asked him how it happens and he said "He had a heart attack"I knew it maybe grandpa got a heart attack seeing the aliens and Spider man’s fight .Then my friend said to me that sorry for the nights disturbance of the ambulance's red blue lights and its alarming horn .Then I got to know that my chatting friend was just pranking me. - Nodha Anne 8th grade, JGRVK

Here they move from dependence to independence-from shaky coordination to refined skills, from body language to verbal communication, from selfabsorption to growing social awareness. Some call it pre-school, some call it funschool, they call it Hello Kids, the chain of preschools that believes in enlightening children by entertaining them. Hello kids looks nothing like a preschool, but rather like a kids heaven. • Early Development is Fundamental to the Growth of Your Child • We provide an environment that encourages active learning through methods that stimulates the child • Empowering kids to discover their inner leader Philosophy Hello Kids believe that a sound early childhood education programme should focus on all areas of development, such as social, emotional, physical, intellectual or spiritual. To promote such growth, we strive to maintain a curriculum and daily schedule that is child centered and exercises real life experiences. Also, teachers should serve as facilitators of learning by providing essential time for students to enquire, discover and practice learning. They believe that the learning is a sequential process and that children

grow and develop at their own rate. They trust in differentiating instruction and that “one size does not fit all” instead, they lend positive reinforcement and encourgement to children's attempts to master skills appropriate for their age level. Hello Kids believe that teachers should demonstrate the fruits of the sprits “love, joy, peace forbearance , kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Curriculum The school implements the Hello Kids –curriculum, which teachers, parents and educational researchers have discovered that this participatory learning style not only helps young children excel in language and cognative learning but also promotes independence, curiosity, decision making, cooperation, persistence, creativity and problem solving. These are the fundamental skills that helps determine success in adult life. A Nurturing and Creative World At Hello Kids, teachers parents and other care givers work together offering a play bases developmentally appropriate learning experience.

SWAMI VIVEKANANDA YOGA FOR ALL AGE

Be Healthy with Mudra Yoga Our body is a mini world made of five elements, Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air), Akasha (Aether), Bhumi (Earth) and Jala (Water); and when there is disturbance in these elements, it can lead to an imbalanced mind and cause our body to suffer from diseases. While it can be restored with the physical postures, drawn to bring awareness to the body and mind, there is more in all yoga styles that can help us balance all these elements within ourselves. Such is the case of the Mudras What is a Mudra? To put it simply, a Mudra is a hand gesture that guides the energy flow to specific areas of the brain. There are many types of Mudras designed to bring different benefits, depending on what we specifically need. They are done in conjunction with breathing to increase the flow of Prana in the body. By practicing it, a connection is developed with the patterns in the brain that influences the unconscious reflexes in the different areas. The internal energy is, in turn, balanced and redirected, creating an impact on the sensory organs, tendons and glands veins. This Mudra gives rise to the root chakra reducing tension and depression. This pose is quite calming and spiritually awakening. It stimulates the air element in the body, which ultimately leads to an increase in the memory power, nervous system and pituitary gland production. It increases the level of concentration, builds mental power and sharpens the brain. If done regularly, your mental and psychological disorders such as anger, stress, anxiety depression and even insomnia can be improved considerably. How to do it: This pose is performed by touching the index finger with the thumb while keeping the other three fingers straight. It is best to perform this pose in the early morning for 35 to 40 minutes at a stretch.

Dengue What do you think when you hear the word “DENGUE”? Fever? Mosquito? But that is not all ! Let us hear a little about Dengue here. Dengue is nothing but a vastly emerging Pandemic-Prone disease which is viral in many parts of the world. Dengue fever affects over 390 million people every year. It is mostly found in the Suburbs, Poor Urban areas and even higher in the rural areas of the country. It is a mosquito borne infection, virally causing flu-like infection, illness and sometimes causing a potentially lethal complication, Severe Dengue. Severe Dengue, previously known as Hemorrhagic Fever was discovered first in the 1950s during the epidemics in Philippines and Thailand. Asian and Latin American countries are also affected today and hospitalization has touched the peaks. It has also caused death among children and adults among these regions.

Symptoms A person suffering from dengue virus will develop flu-like symptoms. The disease is also known as ‘Break-Bone’ fever. It attacks every individual, from infants, children to adults alike and can be fatal. The symptoms can also vary with respect to the age of the person. One should suspect dengue when the body temperature reaches to 104°F and is accompanied by either of the following symptoms: • Severe Headache • Pain behind the Eyes • Nausea, Vomiting • Swollen Glands • Muscle and Joint Pains • Rash These symptoms take 4-10 days for incubation and lasts for 2-7 days after the bite from the infected mosquito. Severe Dengue, a potentially deadly complication mainly due to plasma leaking, fluid accumulation, respiratory distress, severe bleeding or organ impairment. Decrease in temperature below 100°F along with the following symptoms are the warning signs to look out for. • Severe Abdominal Pain • Persistent Vomiting • Rapid Breathing • Bleeding Gums • Blood in Vomit • Fatigue, Restlessness Proper medical health is advised to avoid the risk of death as the following 24-48 hours can be lethal.

Treatment So far, there is no proper treatment for the Dengue Fever. Infected individuals must seek medical help, get enough rest and there should be an adequate intake of fluids. To bring down the joint pains and fever, Paracetamol is advised. Medical care by experienced physicians and nurses with the effects and progression can reduce the chances of death for infected ones by severe dengue. Maintenance of the patient's circulating fluid volume is the central feature of such care. Changing your food intake during Dengue fever also helps you in recovering. Mentioned below are a few of the best food to recover from dengue.

Papaya Papaya leaves are the best option to go for when you are suffering from dengue fever. Extract the juice out of the leaves by crushing and squeezing them. The Leaf’s Extract helps in increasing the blood platelets to a high number. Boiling the papaya leaves in water and drinking the solution is an alternative way.

Broccoli Vitamin K is the key to rebuild the platelets counts, and Broccoli is the best source of Vitamin K. if there is a drastic fall in platelets of a dengue patient, broccoli must be included in their daily diet. Broccoli also provides antioxidants and minerals.

Pomegranate Dengue fever makes you feel extremely weak, pomegranate being rich in iron helps you energize and also provides essential nutrients and minerals. Pomegranate also helps to maintain optimum blood platelet count and hence is pretty beneficial for the blood as well which is essential for recovery.

Spinach Spinach being a highly rich source of iron and proteins, it helps the immune system of the body to energize to a great extent. Spinach also helps in increasing blood platelets. There is a strict NO to Non-Vegetarian Food as it is difficult to digest.

Prevention As Dengue is a mosquito- borne disease, it is as easy as preventing mosquito bites. Few suggestions are mentioned below to prevent you from Dengue: • Wear long sleeve shirts and long pants. • Treat clothes with repellents like permethrin • If you are in an area with many mosquitoes around, consider using mosquito nets. • Avoid areas with standing, stagnant water especially during high mosquito activity like dawn and dusk.

DO YOU KNOW ?

There are more trees on Earth than stars in our galaxy NASA experts believe there could be anywhere from 100 billion to 400 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy, Snopes reports. However, a 2015 paper published in the journal Nature estimated that the number of trees around the world is much higher: 3.04 trillion.

Polar bears are nearly undetectable by infrared cameras Thermal cameras detect the heat lost by a subject as infrared, but polar bears are experts at conserving heat. The bears keep warm due to a thick layer of blubber under the skin. Add to this a dense fur coat and they can endure the chilliest Arctic day.

Hobby of Rubik's cube with benets

R

ubik's cube is a 3-d combination puzzle invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik. Originally called the magic cube, there are other not-so-obvious advantages to solving the Rubik's cube that will indirectly help your brain become sharper. For one, it betters your hand - eye coordination. It improves your concentration in general and ensures that you can process your thoughts faster.

Taking time to relax and engage in an enjoyable activity can help benefit your mental health. Hobbies help improve a person's sense of identity, usefulness, and wellbeing, and eliminate feelings of worthlessness and self-doubt.

Benets of solving the Rubik’s cube: 1. It helps with improving memory. 2. Learning the ways of solving the cube improves patience.

3. It helps you become a problem solver. 4. It helps with mapping of things. 5. It keeps the mind active and makes your reflexes faster. 6. It will improve your fingers dexterity and agility. 7. It is an awesome conversation starter. 8. Solving a cube can help break mild addictions.

Khyma a.k.a Jeerakashala is a short-grain rice with a long history. In Malabar, this humble staple brought Biryani to life in early 20th century. Soon, no other dish would compare to the popularity it garnered. Joined by the seven spices, it infused wedding feasts with grandeur, and festivals with memories. At Khyma, we relive that glory every day. A legendary recipe that remains unchanged, and complimented by the lean Leghorn meat, this Biryani we promise will be the finest you have tasted till date. Our chef Majeed Muzhupilangad comes from a long line of Ustads who practiced the Dum method rigorously and enriched the Biryani cult. We are in a pursuit to reclaim the legacy of the original Malabari Biryani and we are glad you are on-board. May Khyma be the beginning of a marvellous culinary journey. We suggest you start with our Biryani, graduate to the Mughal wonders and then explore our Arabian delicacies. It is a long gourmet voyage but it is beset with

smiles and surprises all the way. Enjoy.

Magic with Scientic Logic 1. Toothpick Torpedo How To Do? Dab a little shampoo on the blunt end of a wooden toothpick. Drop the toothpick in a pan of water. The toothpick will start moving in the direction of the sharp end.

How Does It Work? Shampoo contains agents that reduce the surface tension of liquids. As the shampoo on the end of the toothpick dissolves, it reduces the water’s surface tension around it, thus releasing the water’s hold on that end of the toothpick. The water around the other end of the toothpick still has surface tension, so it pulls the toothpick in that direction.

2. A Candle That Sucks Water How To Do? Place a candle upright in the middle of a saucer. Fill the saucer with water. Light the candle. Place a glass over the candle. When the flame goes out, the water in the saucer will get sucked into the glass.

How Does It Work?

Pet Name : Angel Do You Have A Pet ? If you have a pet, we would like to hear from you. Send in their pictures & Names to make your pets famous. You can email the details to revivebangalorepublication@gmail.com

When the candle is burning inside the glass, the heat makes the air expand, so some of the air escapes outside the glass. The candle goes out after it uses up all the oxygen, so the air inside the glass cools. As it cools, the pressure inside the glass drops. Some of the carbon dioxide formed by the flame dissolves in the water as well, decreasing the pressure even more. The water outside the glass on the saucer is forced into the glass by the higher air pressure outside.

L

ane Discipline is one of the important tests conducted during the Driver's License Examination. These days the drivers, especially the motorists do not follow the rules of Lane Discipline, which is one of the major causes for road accidents. This may cause serious damage to the vehicle as well as the driver or sometimes even death. Basic rules of Lane Discipline for safe and joyful rides are:

Maintain the Universal Lane In India, the universal lane is the right most lane where the vehicles (LMV, SUV, MUV, etc.) are only allowed to occupy when they are following the speed limits. Slow moving traffic like motorcycles, rickshaws, heavy vehicles like trucks and buses must strictly stick to the left lanes and not cause obstruction to the other fast moving vehicles. Maintaining the Lane One must strictly follow this rule of maintaining the lane and not drifting from one lane to the other at very short intervals of time. Also it is mandatory to maintain the car in the center of the lane and not drifting beyond the white markings on the roads. This may cause misunderstanding among the other drivers which may lead to crashes. If your vehicle shifts off road, you create a huge risk of hitting the pedestrians or other objects on your way. Switching the Lanes While switching between the lanes, make sure you use your rear view mirrors wisely. Sudden change of lane may cause sudden braking or mishandling of the other vehicles. Once you are sure that there will not be any disturbance to the moving traffic, turn on the indicator in the direction of the lane you want to switch to let know the traffic. Switching the lanes suddenly is a dangerous habit, hence make sure that the indicators are turned on prior enough. Use of Other Lanes The highways are normally 6-Laned or 8-Laned. Usually, the right lane is used at the most. The other lanes are used while overtaking. While switching the lanes to overtake the slow moving traffic, make sure you intend your movement clearly and use the rear view mirrors to make sure there is no other vehicle trying to overtake as your movement will be an obstruction to them. Use of Roundabouts In India, maintaining lane discipline at roundabouts is nearly impossible. That clearly does not mean there are no rules made. Using a lane at roundabouts depends on the direction you choose to move towards. Normally the roundabouts consist of 2 Lanes, the outer lane and the inner lane. The outer lane is to be used when you wish to choose the nearest exit of the roundabout. Moving towards the inner lane indicates you choosing to exit the roundabout at the later exits. Also, while entering the roundabout, make sure you give way to the vehicles presently using the roundabout. Small Steps can bring about Big Changes, so let's be the change we want to see in our society. Varadkar Mohnish
