When will things be made new?

Revelation 21:4-5 Death will no longer exist; grief, crying, and pain will exist no longer, because the previous things have passed away. Then the One seated on the throne said, “Look! I am making everything new.

Everything is being made new as I write this and as you read this. The “newness” began with a definite purpose the moment Jesus emerged from the tomb. Everything is changing; nothing just stays where it is. It has been said that we are either busy living or busy dying . The choice is ours, and there is no in-between.

Newness is four-fold. It affects how we relate to God, self, others, and creation. Are you busy being a life-giver? Are you about the newness of a life in Christ Jesus? The Light, which is God ,brings life; darkness, which is evil, brings only sin and death.

Titus 3:3 For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.

We must overcome our biases and our prejudiced thinking if we are going to have any hope of making disciples in Jesus’name. And … sometimes it isn’t unbelievers, but believers, who are the greatest challenge. Lashing out at leaders, not for truth but because of ideology or “righteous indignation,” is only giving power to the devil and his kind.

We cannot do God’s will and submit to our own petty differences. This all divides the church and alienates Christ followers from one another at a time when we need each other the most.

When have you claimed to be a believer, but discovered that you are as weak in the flesh as anyone else? If you have, then you are aware of how difficult it is to live for Jesus day in and day out. Have you confessed and sought to be forgiven? If you have, then forgive and be free to be a slave for Jesus Christ.
