Chains cannot bind us

2Timothy 2:8-9 Keep in mind Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descended from David, according to my gospel. For this I suffer, to the point of being bound like a criminal; but God's message is not bound.

God’s message is not bound by anything! No person, place or thing can stop God if He has a will and a purpose for your life.

That being said, you and I can be the obstacle to His will for us in the same way the rich young man in Matthew 19 turned away from Jesus. He was bound by his wealth and his possessions. He chose them over God. God will never make us choose Him, but He will not let us forget Him, either.

God’s message is never bound by circumstance, time or place. We, on the other hand, are bound by our obsessions and the chains of our sin. However, if we allow God to work through us no sin can prevent His work, and no prison can contain us. God’s truth will always set us free.

Are some divisions necessary?

Genesis 11:5-8 Then the Lord came down to look over the city and the tower that the men were building. The Lord said, "If, as one people all having the same language, they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let Us go down there and confuse their language so that they will not understand one another's speech."

So the Lord scattered them from there over the face of the whole earth, and they stopped building the city.

While the Holy Spirit truly binds us as the common denominator, the God-glue, there are significant factors which continue to divide us. There is, in God’s mind, a good reason for this. Issues of language, ethnicity, affiliation and origin, continue to distract us so that we do not set about to do the unthinkable:

That we might conquer the impossible, believe ourselves invincible, and crown ourselves God. Real beneficent unityoccurs onlyin the Spirit and in the body of Christ. Unity is not about buildings or facades.

Be still and know that only God is God.
