Being responsible
2Thessalonians 3:7-10 For you yourselves know how you must imitate us: we were not irresponsible among you; we did not eat anyone's bread free of charge; instead, we labored and toiled, working night and day, so that we would not be a burden to any of you.
It is not that we don't have the right to support, but we did it to make ourselves an example to you so that you would imitate us. In fact, when we were with you, this is what we commanded you: "If anyone isn't willing to work, he should not eat."

Paul’s message was a message for the marketplace as was Jesus’gospel. Most of us spend more time at work, and in commuting, than we do almost anywhere else. The Bible never speaks against honest labor or the acquisition of material goods. What Paul makes plain is that no one, especially faith leaders, should have an entitlement mentality. The church should not be burdened my mortgages or leadership; the church is a spiritual body headed by Christ, not merely a physical address with a cross on the steeple.
