meditations for an everyday relationship with Jesus
Where do we turn?
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.

Romans 8:38-9 For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!
We are faced with a choice, a dilemma … one that has plagued the post-modern man in ways that no other has been burdened. We are asked to choose God or Science. It is not a choice we have to make.
While we tend to choose God when we are desperate and science at our most rational, the two combined answer the questions “why” and “how” in a complete and coherent way that science by itself cannot.
We would do well to consider both/and, not either/or. Our God is a God of inclusion and promise, not exclusion and dismay.
What do we know about Jesus’birth?
John 8:42 " Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, because I came from God and I am here. For I didn't come on My own, but He sent Me.
Isaiah 9:6 For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Surprising little is known about the birth of our Savior. The accounts we are familiar with in Matthew and Luke were written 40-50 years after His death and resurrection. Even Jesus didn’t say anything useful about His own birth if we are to believe the first-hand accounts of the Gospels.
Our Jesus is not held captive in a manger nor is He to remain on the cross. Our Lord is a living God who is not bound by any event or human expectation. Isaiah tells us that a son will be born for us; Jesus fulfills all that is hoped for.
