The mission of NAS Kingsville’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program is to provide quality, varied programs of wholesome and constructive recreation/leisure activities for Navy personnel and their family members.
These programs contribute to the mental, physical, social and educational enrichment of the participants. The MWR Department takes great pride in providing outstanding facilities, programs and activities in addition to exceptional food and beverage service. MWR’s goal is to meet or exceed customer expectations at every level of service.
Auto Skills Center Phone: (361) 516-6248
Hours of Operation: Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 pm, and close Monday, Sunday and Holidays.
The Auto Skills Center provides a friendly, safe and economical place to perform all types of repairs on your vehicle. There are tools and equipment available for everything from normal maintenance to major overhauls. Personnel use the Center to repair many things including cars, trucks, boats, home appliances, and lawn mowers.
The Auto Skills Center has a great assortment of hand and power tools, in metric and SAE, as well as specialty tools. There are four bays with overhead lifts, and two bays with short rise body lifts. These are rented on an hourly basis, with most hand tools included. There are 12 additional enclosed bays without lifts for rent, available for storage and repair and all having compressed air and electricity. These are available on a day, week or monthly basis and include free use of most hand tools.
Diagnostic computers are available to assist you in diagnosing your vehicle. Additionally, a complete All-Data repair library is available on DVD for all years makes and models. The Texas State Inspection Station, located here, is open to everyone on base during regular business hours, Tuesday and Friday.
There is also a tire repair facility with the newest style tire mounting machine and spin balancing machine. Brake repairs are a snap with the Center’s brake washing machine, and there is a drum and disk brake lathe on site. The welding bay has an AC/DC arc welder, a MIG and TIG machine, and an oxy/acetylene cutting torch, as well as a metal cutting saw.

Hours of Operation: 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., weekends and holidays.
The Bowling Center has eight lanes with electronic scoring, year-round bowling leagues, locker rental, tournaments, game area, big screen TV, and a limited pro-shop. The lanes are made of synthetic surfaces guaranteed to withstand the South Texas humidity as well as resist denting and scratching. To further enhance your experience, new seating and a state-of-the-art scoring system were recently installed. The Bowling Center is available for birthdays, unit or private parties.
The Bowling Center’s snack bar serves breakfast and lunch specials Monday through Friday. The menu consists of meals and snacks available for take-out or dine-in. For your convenience, call ahead and place your order.
Construction of a new, 12-lane bowling center should be completed in mid-2014. The new facility will be located adjacent to the Captain’s Club and Santiago Fitness Center.
CarWash
Located next to the Auto Skills Center, the car wash is open 24/7. The car wash is a self-service operation with two wash bays and a vacuum bay. Normal high-pressure washing as well as a foaming brush, tire/engine cleaner and wax are available. This facility is open to all base personnel with a current price of SO cents for more than three minutes.

The Recreation Center has pool tables, PS2, X Box 360, Game Cube, foosball, ping pong, air hockey, computers, large screen HD TV, Direct TV, and more than 600 movies in stock. View your favorite movie or watch programming from Direct TV while relaxing on a comfortable leather sofa, chair or adult-sized bean bags. Each month the Recreation Center receives new movies before the video stores. This facility is open to everyone on board NAS Kingsville.

Prime South Texas acreage for hunting, horseback riding, fishing, camping and wildlife watching await you at Escondido Ranch, which is located 90 miles from NAS Kingsville, outside of Freer, Texas. Its lodge can accommodate up to 70 people and has a lounge area equipped with a pool table, large-screen television and electronic dart game. Escondido Ranch is a great get-away with a variety of things to do. Other amenities include a cook¬ house, camp sites, and RV hook-ups.
Hunting on the 6,800-acre ranch is permitted by reservation only. Active-duty service members can make reservations five weeks in advance; retirees and Reservists three weeks in advance, and DoD civilians two weeks in advance.
Lodge -Escondido Ranch has a 17room lodge with several options for your stay. There are rooms that have bunk beds that sleep 4, family rooms that sleep 4, or a separate cottage that sleeps 8 with a kitchen, bathroom and porch. Newly-renovated restrooms, shower facilities and flooring throughout the public areas as well as a large ice machine will add to your overall experience. Each room is furnished with beds, a refrigerator and an air conditioner/ neater. Adjacent to the lodge is a cookhouse with barbecue pits, electric stove and grill. Escondido Ranch is available for group activities such as parties, seminars, reunions and trail rides. Advance notice is required for scheduling such events, so please contact the Ranch at least 60 days prior to the event.
Camping - Twelve RV sites are available with electric, water and sewage hook-ups. Bring your RV or tent and enjoy the outdoors.
Hunting - The Ranch offers yearround hunting. To find out what game is in season, call theTexas Parks andWildlife Office regarding hunting in McMullen County at 1-800- 792-1112. Aggressive conservation programs have increased the abundance of wildlife on the Ranch. Over 75 different types of birds can be seen. Hog, javelina, bird and deer hunting are very popular. Deer hunting is conducted on a drawing basis, and begins with archery in October and rifle from November to January. Call the Ranch for more information on the drawing process. Hog hunts are conducted monthly, February through August, around the full moon and are very successful. These hunts are overnight events.
Fishing - Fish the Nueces River! All anglers are required to comply with Texas State Fishing Regulations.
You don't have to be a hunter or fisherman to enjoy the Ranch. There are many other opportunities to enjoy the outdoors: camping, archery, hiking, fishing, relaxing, wildlife photography, bird watching, animal watching or watching a sunset without obstruction or interference.

ties. The Nautilus/ Cardiovascular and Free Weight work-out rooms have the newest technology as well as the traditional equipment. Other indoor facilities include a basketball court, four racquetball courts, locker rooms, saunas and hot tubs. Numerous outdoor facilities include a heated pool, a football/all-pur¬pose field and a ¼-mile synthetic track.
The athletic program includes a variety of activities such as football, racquetball, basketball, bowling, volleyball, tennis and s0ftball. Captain's Cup tournaments are held throughout the year.

Located inside the Outdoor Recreation Buildings, the Outdoor Recreation Building, the Information, Tickets & Travel office is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Closed for lunch from 1 to 2 p.m.) ITT provides information and discount tickets to base personnel to a host of area attractions. ITT also sponsors monthly bus trips to various festivals, sports events, shopping centers, and concerts throughout South Texas.
The ITT office sells discount tickets for attractions such as Schlitterbahn, SeaWorld and Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, and the Texas State Aquarium, USS Lexington and the new Hurricane Alley Waterpark in Corpus Christi. ITT also has discount ticket packages for Disney World, Universal Studios, Blue Man's Group and Medieval Times and more! Feel Free to call or stop by the ITT office and the staff will assist you with your travel. Tickets may be purchased at the ITT office by phone or in person.

The Library has collections of fiction and nonfiction books, periodicals, newspapers and magazines. Books are updated through a contract leasing program. Video cassettes, audio tapes, books on tape, copier, fax machine, a microfiche reader and more are available for patron use. There is also a paperback book exchange program.
In addition, there are nine computers for; use. They are connected to the internet with printers, an NMCI connection, numerous word-processing, spreadsheet and educational software programs, and instructional CDs. Special events are held throughout the year for both children and adults.

Hours of Operation: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Outdoor Recreation is the place to go for your camping, fishing, picnicking and hunting needs. There is a wide variety of equipment ready to rent for your recreational requirements. For those who enjoy water sports, Outdoor Recreation has motor boats, kayaks, and canoes equipped with life preservers, paddles and car carriers for trailers. For campers, Outdoor Recreation has trailers, camp stoves, lanterns, water jugs, tents, cots and sleeping bags.
Outdoor Recreation also manages the hunting and fishing programs on base and is the sole provider for station fishing and programs on base and is the sole provider for station fishing and hunting permits. It manages two fresh-water ponds stocked with blue channel catfish and has complete fishing supplies including rods and reels, bait buckets and tackle. The base hunting program includes dove, quail, and turkey when in season. Outdoor Recreation provides complete information on hunting and fishing both on station and in the region.
Station picnic facilities are also maintained through this activity. Each pavilion has restroom facilities, playground equipment, BBQ pits and shade areas. There are no fees for picnic facility use: however, reservations must be made in advance.
Enjoy Outdoor entertaining, BBQ or grilling? Rental equipment includes tables, chairs, ice chests and two 7ftBBQ pits on trailers, one of which is a smoker. Also available are utility trailers for moving furniture, vehicle trailers, gasoline generators, garden tillers ang augers.

Located behind Outdoor Recreation is a 13-slot RV park. All 13-slots have 10x10 concrete slabs with individual shelters and picnic tables. Five of the 13-slots have water, electricity and sewer with the remaining eight having only water and electricity. There is a free on-site dump station available for use. The RV Park also has showers, bathrooms and a coin-operated laundry with large-capacity machines. The RV Park is open 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. Reservations may be made in person or by phone with a credit card and there are daily, weekly or monthly rates.

The Army Veterinarian visits NAS Kingsville monthly. Appointments are made by calling the Corpus Christi Army Veterinary at (361) 961-3952. Veterinarian services are available to active-duty and retired military personnel.

CHILD & YOUTH SERVICES

The Child Development Center provides outstanding care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Its primary goal is to ensure that children in our care are offered every opportunity to flourish in a safe and caring atmosphere that offers an abundance of learning activities. The CDC provides an environment that nurtures and challenges the growth and development of each child.
Developmentally appropriate activities and experiences are offered to meet the needs of each child. All meals and snacks are prepared in accordance with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines. The CDC has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) for eight years.

Child Development Home Providers are active-duty military spouses who provide quality child care services in their homes for eligible children between 6 weeks and 12 years of age, on a full, part-time or drop-in basis. Hours are flexible and care is excellent. Providers undergo an extensive background check, orientation training, and home inspections prior to authorization by the Commanding Officer. Homes are monitored on a regular basis and training is ongoing to ensure program quality. Each provider is enrolled in the Child and Adult Care Food Program to ensure children receive nutritious meals. Homes are equipped with state of the art materials and equipment.

Hours of Operation: After School Care is from 2:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.; Summer Camp Hours are from 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
A variety of activities is offered for children ages kindergarten through 12 years of the state-of-the-art sound system enabling you to age. Children are picked-up at area schools and brought back to the SAC Center for snacks, homework assistance and playtime. Holiday Camps are available during school closing. SAC supports and encourages military and DoD children to participate in community youth events.
Families eligible to participate in the program are military dependents, DoD civilians, and contractors on board NAS Kingsville. Full-time and part-time care is available to meet the varying needs of our parents and children.
CLUB FACILITIES
Captain's Club
Hours of Operation: 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. Also open on weekends for scheduled events.
The Captain's ballroom is a versatile facility for hosting events ranging command events to weddings, seminars, reunions and community gatherings. The ballroom can also be reserved for private events on weekends such as weddings, parties and socials. Its premier turn-key operation makes it possible to have an elegant event without the hassle of booking decorators, DJ's, caterers and planners. K-BAR: Located inside The Captain's Club in the No-Fly Zone, the K-BAR has something for everyone. For sports fans, there are flat screen televisions with a state-of-the-art sound system enabling you to listen to any TV in the house. A 150” projection screen makes you feel like you're in the action. If you like to dance, there is a huge dance floor, special effects lighting and a great assortment of music and videos.
