TIPS FOR SUCCESS from the Dean

Check out these top tips from our Dean of Students.

During the COVID Pandemic, please remember to following the 4Ws:

• Wash your hands • Wear a face covering • Watch your distance (6 ft please!) • Wellness Check – conduct daily

Check email. The college communicates important messages and deadlines via your VCCS email, you need to check it daily!

Reference syllabus, know the attendance policy

and go to class! A syllabus is provided for each class you take. Read it the first day of classes and reference it regularly! The syllabus includes the attendance policy for the class which is set by the instructor. Learn how attendance will be taken and go to class!

Academic Calendar. Available on the Reynolds website, includes key dates such as those drop and withdrawal dates that we referenced earlier. There are different drop and withdrawal dates for each session. Make sure to review the calendar frequently throughout the semester.

Know your policies. The college has a number of policies meant to explain your rights as students and responsibilities you have as a member of the college community. Policies such as the Student Code of Conduct, Academic Honesty and Student Sexual Misconduct policies are important ones. All student policies can be found at

Reynolds Alerts

Sign up on the Reynolds website to receive emergency and inclement weather notifications to your phone or email.

Navigate

Students can use this to register for classes, schedule appointments with an academic advisor and academic tutoring, manage reminders and more.

Canvas

The Canvas Student app allows you to view grades, due dates, and communicate through the app. It’s available for both Android and iOS devices. Directions for using your Canvas app can be found at reynolds.edu/canvasapp.

LiveSafe

LiveSafe allows you to privately choose a friend to watch you get safely to where you want to go and quickly communicate with campus police in an emergency. It’s available for both Android and iOS devices.

My Shuttle

Want to know when the shuttle will arrive? Go to myshuttleapp.com to create an account and download the app. Enter in the access code: REYNOLDS and follow the prompts to get a shuttle tracking map on your phone!
