OPEN WATER SWIM – RACE 6

We would like to say a massive well done to everyone that attended and completed Race 6 and the final race of the V Cars Open Water Swim Race Series in 2013. After a good summer and on a beautiful sunny morning a strong field of swimmers got their wetsuits on; in some cases for the last time this season; and attempt the 3 race distances on offer. We were joined by a big group of girls from ‘London Penguins water polo team’ and they made up what was possibly our strongest ever field. The water was surprisingly warm compared with past October swims so the 2600m race was the busiest of the 3 races. A great way to finish off the 2013 season and we now begin to look forward to next season! The RG Active TRAINING RACES offer the competitors an opportunity to gauge fitness, practise mass swim starts, swimming with others and to add a element of competition to your training in a relaxed and inexpensive environment. The Training races will create a series made up of 6 races spread throughout the summer season (June to Oct). The races will follow the same structure with the only things outside of your control being the British weather and the other competitors racing with you. This allows you to monitor your progress over the races throughout the season over the same course and having the series will enable you to try new things and make sure that you get a great workout as well as preparing yourself for your major ‘A’ races during the summer.
