Tom Oldham describes himself as ‘an objective painter’. He tries wherever possible to paint from direct observation, in order to capture the immediacy of the subject. He says ‘I enjoy the sensual qualities of swiftly applied paint and am not interested in achieving a highly finished photographic effect.’ Tom prefers to keep his brushwork clearly evident in his painting, eschewing an overly blended, ‘smoothed-out’ finish.
Annie Peaker graduated from Reading University in 1978. After a period travelling Annie settled in Sheffield where she taught art at Notre Dame High School and at the Crossley Heath School in Halifax. In 2003 Annie moved to Cumbria and she set up Kirk Neuk Studio. Her work is widely exhibited in the UK and Europe.

Sobue employs a brush hatching technique using Japanese sumi ink and acrylic, which he has created and developed in recent years. With a variety of subjects he aims to gather the threads of narrative for bridging East and West.

Elizabeth Walsh gained her MDES RCA degree in textile design at the Royal College of Art. Walsh paints detailed watercolours and ink drawings of seasonal subjects, mostly plants, birds and small wildlife from the area around where she lives. She has been a member of the Lake Artists Society since 1997 and also exhibits at Upfront Gallery and with Carlisle and Cumbria Artists and Manx Art exhibitions.
Ian Walton has exhibited widely both in the UK and overseas, and has work in collections here and abroad. His work’s themes are often autobiographical and it contains narrative elements with recall incidents, places or memories over periods of time. It is primarily land-based and deals with the emotion of being amidst and part of nature, whilst reflecting the sometimes hostile edge which is so much part of it.
