DECARBONIZATION IS MORE THAN A STRATEGY

12pm – 1:00pm

Trade show floor education theatre

One of the most talked about and important developments of the 21st century has been the issue of climate change. What were once-in-ageneration storms and weather events seem to occur on a regular basis. In fact, the Canadian Climate Institute says that by 2025, the previous 10 years of climate change will have shaved $25 billion off of national GDP. In other words, the Canadian economy will be $25 billion dollars smaller than it would have been if global warming had stabilized in 2015. This session will cover a series of important points related to decarbonization including - The business case for developing and following a decarbonization strategy is strong, decarbonizing strategies can future-proof investments by reducing risk from tightening regulatory requirements, rising utility costs, and higher carbon pollution prices, decarbonization can increase the value of an asset by increasing the longevity and usefulness of it, the broader impact that these strategies will have on the building and its occupants, increased energy savings of approximately 20 to 50 % depending on the building type and age, resulting in lower operating costs and less exposure to future utility cost escalation, and more.

Moderator: Chuck Nervick | SVP, MediaEdge Communications

Panelists: Nic Morgan | VP Business Development, Morgan Solar Inc.; Daniel Gosselin | Leader, Carbon Neutral Buildings, BGIS; William MacGowan, P.Eng., CEM | Smart/Hybrid/Sustainable Building

AND BEYOND

Noon – 12:45 p.m. | On-Floor Education Theatre

End-users responsible for facility cleanliness and improvement, as well as distributor sales representatives wanting to building their brand and increase overall success will benefit from this educational session.

The industry is changing rapidly, with or without you. How do we adapt quickly and survive? E-commerce versus brick and mortar, versus deep facility specialists are in the future forecast. How should we change?

During this session, participants will learn several key methods to affordably and quickly implement change, and add tools to their arsenal to help grow as the industry evolves.

The difference between labour efficiencies versus product spend and budgetary matters will be explained, and strategies on how best to maximize both of these areas will be shared. There is also the priority of human wellness and sustainability. No longer an option or second thought, these considerations are of critical importance and the industry must step up NOW!

When it comes to the value of specific facility audits and their ROI, this session will discover where to improve and how to prioritize facility objectives. Additionally, the value of custodial training will be outlined because one can never assume that everyone is professionally trained. From refresher training to new talent, we need to improve our value for both facility occupants and our frontline crews. And finally, virus versus outbreak prevention. WHAT’S THE BUG WITH AUDITING CLEANLINESS?

Noon – 12:45 p.m.

On-Floor Education Theatre

The recent global Pandemic has demonstrated the importance of an effective cleaning and disinfection strategy. The appropriate protocol, supported by the right products, is consistently executed by well-trained personnel and will deliver the right outcome. But how do we know the desired outcome is being achieved?

How can we measure the return on our investment in people, products and equipment?

Cleaning inspections are familiar. However, automated inspection technology is not widespread. A more critical issue is fitting cleanliness outcomes data into the larger organizational quality framework –particularly in regulated environments, such as healthcare.

So, why is it so difficult to move forward with audit technology?

Mark Heller will tap his experience with implementing quality auditing technologies in multiple organizations,. He will also discuss the essential elements of an effective audit platform mobilization and highlight the critical component of choosing the optimal technology solution and mobilizing it to success.

Halton Healthcare has successfully implemented an audit platform for Environmental Services, Food Services, and other qualitative functions, including hand hygiene. Katherine Da Silva will share experience insights and lessons that may help your organization avoid pitfalls and get automated audits happening faster and more effectively.

Speakers:

Wendy Boone | Executive Director, Canadian Healthcare Housekeeping Association

Katherine Da Silva | Environmental Services Manager, Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital
